Teaching first‐year statistics students with COVID‐19 real‐world data: Graphs

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, but what about graphs? Although graphs have the potential to bring data to life, numerous studies show that learners struggle with graphical comprehension. Furthermore, many textbook examples on graphs are boring and appear meaningless to students. Students want to know more about something which is interesting, meaningful, and worth knowing, in other words, something relevant. With the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in December 2019, COVID‐19 is dominating the news worldwide, and the internet is flooded with visual presentations about the virus. To make statistics more fascinating and exciting, relevant and real‐world data such as these can be used in the classroom to stimulate the learning of important statistical concepts such as graphs. Curcio's three levels of graphical comprehension were used as a framework in this study, while the importance of developing a global view on distributions was also emphasized.     

Meta‐analysis and mega‐analysis: A simple introduction

Statistical methods are increasingly being used to integrate findings from the ever‐expanding universe of empirical research. Meta‐analysis encompasses various techniques for synthesizing summary statistics, and mega‐analysis pools raw data across studies. This paper offers an introduction to meta‐analysis and mega‐analysis that complements the study of analysis of variance (ANOVA). After a brief conceptual discussion, we provide simple numerical examples.     

Structural Equation Modeling With Unknown Population Distributions: Ridge Generalized Least Squares

This article proposes 2 classes of ridge generalized least squares (GLS) procedures for structural equation modeling (SEM) with unknown population distributions. The weight matrix for the first class of ridge GLS is obtained by combining the sample fourth-order moment matrix with the identity matrix. The weight matrix for the second class is obtained by combining the sample fourth-order moment matrix with its diagonal matrix. Empirical results indicate that, with data from an unknown population distribution, parameter estimates by ridge GLS can be much more accurate than those by either GLS or normal-distribution-based maximum likelihood; and standard errors of the parameter estimates also become more accurate in predicting the empirical ones. Rescaled and adjusted statistics are proposed for overall model evaluation, and they also perform much better than the default statistic following from the GLS method. The use of the ridge GLS procedures is illustrated with a real data set.     

大学生的情感状况研究

本研究的主要目的是：对大学生的情感状况进行描述统计分析。主要测量工具为Bradburn的《正性情感量表和负性情感量表》。被试取自北京市三所高校的一至三年级大学生，共788人。结果显示：报告正性情感的大学生人数高于报告负性情感的人数。性别，年级及学科均不影响大学生的情感状况。     

运用实际问题改进《概率统计》教学

结合教学实际,总结和探讨了在《概率论与数理统计》教学教改过程中加强与实际问题相联系的几个途径,以期激发学生学习兴趣,培养其素质和应用能力。     

旅游者人数变动的统计预测分析

旅游业是一个波动性较强的产业，由于受旅游市场多种因素的影响，往往导致旅游目的地和旅游景点旅游人数经常发生变动，因此对旅游人数进行统计、分析和预测有助于调节旅游市场的供求平衡，合理安排和开发旅游景点，做好旅游接待工作。本通过使用一些统计预测模型及相应的预测方法，对旅游的人数变动、流向变动和季节变动进行了一定的统计、分析和预测，对旅游业实践具有一定的指导意义。     

基于学科应用的国内翻转课堂研究文献综述

对中国知网(CNKI)近五年来有关学科应用翻转课堂的文献进行统计,分析了翻转课堂在具体学科应用研究的文献分布现状。通过内容分析法,深入分析相关文献,按照学科研究对象分为初等教育、中等教育、高等教育、职业教育和成人教育,提出当前国内对基于具体学科的翻转课堂的研究趋势。     

对义务教育实验教科书中概率内容的评述

从频率出发引出概率概念和把统计与概率相互融合的处理,比较符合信息时代的概率定义,能够体现《九年义务教育数学课程标准》的要求.北师大版与华东师大版两套中学数学新教材,在处理理论概率与实验概率的关系、统计与概率的联系这两个根本问题上,存在着差别.北师大版统计初步内容靠近描述统计学,统计与概率是分开的,联系不密切.华东师大版统计初步内容靠近推断统计学,统计与概率是密切联系、相互融合的.关于统计与概率教材可按如下原则处理:(1)以数据处理为主线,将统计和概率结合起来.(2)教材中出现的统计数据,尽可能不用或少用固定的记录数据,多用随机实验或随机抽样所得数据.(3)比较固定数据的平均值与随机数据的平均值,注意它们之间的本质区别.     

高校综合统计工作的现状与改革思路

高校综合统计为高校领导决策提供了科学、规范的依据，具有重要的意义。当前高校综合统计工作现状不容乐观，加强高校综合统计工作必须采取切实可行的措施，才能把统计工作提高到一个新的水平，为高校的改革和发展作贡献。     

《仓央嘉措情歌》用词特征分析

本文利用计算机作为分析工具，对流传在藏族地区的第六世达赖喇嘛创作的《仓央嘉措情歌》进行了词频统计和文本搭配索引，并根据计算机的处理结果对《仓央嘉措情歌》的用词特点作出了简要分析。
