A multipurpose electronic filter and integrating level detector suitable for electroencephalographic (EEG) and electromyographic recording and analysis is described. A bremsstrahlung tagging system was installed at the Mainz microtron facility and was successfully used for experiments. At a primary electron energy of 184 MeV photons from 14 to 144 MeV could simultaneously be tagged. The magnetic electron optics for the tagging spectrometer were chosen in such a way, that the linear polarization of an off-axis tagged photon beam was considerably enhanced. The setup is described and results of performance tests are discussed.  相似文献

Mine drainage from the St Louis Tunnel (located at the Rico-Argentine Site) is circumneutral most of the year, with spring freshets increasing flow, decreasing pH and increasing metals concentrations. This study was designed to test the performance of a demonstration-scale horizontal wetlands passive treatment train, comprised of a settling basin, surface flow wetland, horizontal-flow anaerobic wetland, aeration channel, and rock drain, during two years of influent water chemistry at a constant 113 L/min (30 gpm) flow rate. Total Zn, Cd, and Mn effluent concentrations met project treatment goals (PTGs) 75, 96.9, and 100% of the time, respectively, and 93.9, 100, and 100% of the time for the dissolved metals. Most PTG exceedances occurred during the freshet events. Most Zn and Cd attenuation was attributed to sulfide precipitation in the anaerobic cell and capture/filtration of suspended ZnS particles in the anaerobic wetland and rock drain. Manganese was attenuated in the aerobic portion of the anaerobic cell (influent transition zone) as Mn oxides and carbonates. Oxidation of Mn occurred in the rock drain as biogenically formed Mn oxides adhered to the rock matrix. Carryover of dissolved sulfides from the anaerobic cell limited the rock drain’s Mn removal efficiency. Low temperatures did not significantly affect biological activity within the system; the effects of seasonal water quality were more important.

In this letter, we report high-speed photoconductive switches based on low-temperature (LT) grown GaAs on Si substrate. Epitaxially grown LT GaAs was separated from its substrate, transferred on an SiO/sub 2/-coated Si substrate and integrated with a transmission line. The 10/spl times/20-/spl mu/m/sup 2/ switches exhibit high breakdown voltage and low dark currents (<10/sup -7/ A at 100 V). The photoresponse at 810 nm shows electrical transients with /spl sim/0.55-ps full-width at half-maximum and /spl sim/0.37-ps decay time, both independent on the bias voltage up to the tested limit of 120 V. The photoresponse amplitude increases up to /spl sim/0.7 V with increased bias and the signal bandwith is /spl sim/500 GHz. The freestanding LT GaAs switches are best suited for ultrafast optoelectronic testing since they can be placed at virtually any point on the test circuit.  相似文献

Complex methods of statistic analysis for parameters of automated perimetry and visual evoked potentials were presented. The examinations were performed in 14 patients with compressive visual neuropathy, in 14 patients with optic neuritis, in 20 patients with demyelinative visual neuropathy and in 20 patients with optic nerve atrophy. Multidimensional analysis of variance (MANOVA) was performed. The methods proved useful for differential diagnosis of optic neuropathy.  相似文献

The survival of rat cerebellar granule cells maintained in vitro is enhanced by a KCl-enriched medium. This effect is classically interpreted as resulting from a higher cytosolic calcium concentration. This implies the presence of voltage-dependent Ca2+ channels and a membrane potential that can respond to changes in external K+. Since previous studies cast a doubt on these two conditions, we reinvestigated the resting membrane potential and Ca2+ influxes in rat cerebellar granule neurones during the first week in vitro using a fluorescence imaging approach. Membrane potential was assessed with the fluorescent dye bis-oxonol, and intracellular free calcium with Fura-2. Resting potential was shown to progressively decrease from -40 mV at the first day in vitro to -60 mV at day 7. At all times in culture, as early as day 0, cells were depolarized when external KCl concentration was increased from 5 to 30 mM. This depolarization resulted in an increased cytosolic calcium concentration due to Ca2+ influx through L-type and N-type voltage-activated Ca2+ channels, functional at day 0. Gross estimations of the permeabilities of Na+ and Cl- were obtained at various times in culture by measuring the changes in resting potential brought about by a reduction of their external concentration. A progressive increase of the relative permeability to K+ ions seems to underlie the evolution of the resting potential with time.  相似文献

We present a novel, free-standing low-temperature GaAs (LT-GaAs) photoconductive switch and demonstrate its femtosecond performance. A 1-microm-thick layer of a single-crystal LT-GaAs was patterned into 5-10-microm-wide and 15-30-microm-long bars, separated from their GaAs substrate and, subsequently, placed across gold coplanar transmission lines deposited on a Si substrate, forming a photoconductive switch. The switch was excited with 110-fs-wide optical pulses, and its photoresponse was measured with an electro-optic sampling system. Using 810-nm optical radiation, we recorded an electrical transient as short as 360 fs (1.25 THz, 3-dB bandwidth) and established that the photo-carrier lifetime in our LT-GaAs was 150 fs. Our free-standing devices exhibited quantum efficiency of the order of approximately 7%, and their photoresponse amplitude was a linear function of the applied voltage bias, as well as a linear function of the excitation power, below a well-defined saturation threshold.  相似文献
