Intermittent drying may be of interest in the future to address energy issues. Such drying conditions are also likely to help stress relaxation through mechanosorptive creep. The influence of applying oscillations of temperature and relative humidity during the drying of beech timber on time and drying stresses is discussed in the paper by means of nonsymmetrical and loaded drying. Experimental data were used to validate a numerical model in the case of intermittent drying. The model was then used to perform a numerical investigation of the possibility of using an intermittent energy source to dry wood.  相似文献

Among oil compounds, fatty acids, tocopherols and xanthophylls (lutein and zeaxanthin) are of special interest due to their nutritional properties. The identification and quantification of these compounds in pecan nuts (Carya illinoinensis) could therefore be very useful to produce functional foods rich in compounds of this type. This paper reports studies on their accumulation and the effect of ripening on the content of these high value-added compounds. The total lipid content increased during the ripening. Saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids decreased significantly, whereas, monounsaturated fatty acids increased during the ripening of pecan nut fruit. Maximum levels of total tocopherol (279.53 mg/kg oil) and xanthophyll (6.18 mg/kg oil) were detected at 20th weeks after the flowering date. These amounts decreased gradually as ripening advances. The early stages of pecan ripening seem to have nutritional and pharmaceutical interests. These results may be useful for evaluating the pecan nut quality and determining the optimal period when the pecans accumulated the maximum of these nutritional and healthy compounds.  相似文献

In order to increase cognitive radios (CRs) operation efficiency, there has been an increasing interest in strengthening awareness level about spectrum utilisation. In this respect, this paper proposes to exploit the fittingness factor concept to capture the suitability of spectral resources exhibiting time-varying characteristics to support a set of heterogeneous CR applications. First, a new knowledge management functional architecture for optimizing spectrum management has been constructed. It integrates a set of advanced statistics capturing the influence of the dynamic radio environment on the fittingness factor. Then, a knowledge manager (KM) exploiting these statistics to monitor time-varying suitability of spectrum resources has been proposed to support the spectrum selection (SS) decision-making process. In particular, a new Fittingness Factor-based strategy combining two SS and spectrum mobility (SM) functionalities has been proposed, following either a greedy or a proactive approach. Results have shown that, with a proper fittingness factor function, the greedy approach efficiently exploits the KM support at low loads and the SM functionality at high loads to introduce significant gains in terms of the user dissatisfaction probability. The proactive approach has been shown to maintain the introduced performance gain while minimizing the signalling requirements in terms of spectrum handover rate.  相似文献

In this paper, a new visual and interactive user interface for OLAP is presented, and its strengths and weaknesses examined. A survey on 3D interfaces for OLAP is detailed, which shows that only one interface that uses Virtual Reality has been proposed. Then we present our approach: it consists of a 3D representation of OLAP cubes where many OLAP operators have been integrated and where several measures can be visualized. A 3D stereoscopic screen can be used in conjunction with a 3D mouse. Finally a user study is reported that compares standard dynamic cross-tables with our interface on different tasks. We conclude that 3D with stereoscopy is not as promising as expected even with recent 3D devices.  相似文献

In this context, this paper builds a new cognitive management functional architecture for spectrum selection (SS). It relies on a knowledge manager (KM) retaining a set of advanced statistics that track the suitability of spectral resources to support a set of heterogeneous applications under varying interference conditions. Based on this architecture, a novel proactive strategy is proposed for both SS and spectrum mobility (SM) functionalities. The required interactions between the proposed decision-making processes are described, and their capability to exhibit robustness to unexpected changes in the radio environment is highlighted. The results show that the proposed strategy efficiently exploits the KM support for low loads, while the SM functionality introduces significant gains for high loads with respect to other strategies. Finally, to assess the practicality of the proposed approach, the signaling requirements in the radio interface are evaluated.  相似文献

This paper investigates the influence of liquid fuel presence on the autoignition of n-heptane/air mixtures over a wide range of conditions encountered in internal combustion engines. To this end, evaporating droplet physics and skeletal chemistry mechanisms are simultaneously solved considering a homogeneous constant-pressure reactor. A skeletal mechanism is introduced to account for specific kinetics behavior in the Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) region. The impact of mass and heat source terms during evaporation is emphasized by comparing a two-phase flow scenario with a purely gaseous case. The competition between fuel vapor availability and the evaporation-induced gas temperature decrease is specific to two-phase flow autoignition. On the one hand, droplet evaporation delay restricts the gaseous local fuel/air equivalence ratio and consequently the kinetics runaway. On the other hand, temperature reduction due to evaporation may either reduce or enhance chemical reactivity, depending on the local thermodynamic conditions lying either inside or outside the NTC region. By simultaneously accounting for evaporation source terms and skeletal chemistry, we can reproduce the already experimentally observed transformation of the NTC region into a Zero Temperature Coefficient (ZTC) region depending on thermodynamic conditions and droplet size. The ZTC phenomenon appears when combustion heat-release starts before complete droplet evaporation. Since the ZTC behavior can be captured using the point source approach, in which droplets are considered only as zero-dimensional source terms of mass and energy, the present results pave the way for future exploration of NTC chemistry in sprays with a direct numerical simulation of discrete particles considering detailed chemistry and turbulent flows.  相似文献

This study focuses on the corrosion phenomena occurring between aluminium AA5083 and AZ31 magnesium sheets, joined with a coated steel self‐piercing rivet, by punch rivet technology. These assemblies were studied by immersion tests and scanning vibrating electrode technique (SVET) in sodium chloride solutions, in order to evaluate the effects of joint geometry on corrosion resistance. The observed results were also used for validation of transient finite element method (FEM) simulations. A fully coupled continuum model was used to compute the evolution of electrochemically and chemically induced corrosion attack, formation of corrosion products and their influence on the overall system kinetics. Additionally, X‐ray diffraction (XRD) analysis of the corrosion products provided evidence for the formation of layered double hydroxides (LDH), which is in accordance with the model outputs. The current study targets the optimization of joint setup for corrosion resistance. The suitability of corrosion simulation for the AZ31‐AA5083‐Almac ternary galvanic system is shown alongside. The developed modelling approach represents a step forward in terms of digital service‐life assessment of multi‐material joints.  相似文献
