Blends of plasticized casein (CA) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) at various ratios were prepared using the solution‐casting method. The prepared blend solutions were cast onto polystyrene petri plates and bend films were obtained. The characterization of films was performed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, tensile testing, thermogravimetric analysis, contact angle measurements and water vapour permeability. According to spectroscopic analysis, there were interactions between the CA and PVA molecules. The tensile test results showed that the tensile strength of CA increased with increasing PVA content. The flexibility of plasticized CA film increased with the incorporation of PVA. The thermal stability and water vapour barrier properties of plasticized CA improved on blending with PVA. As a result, it was seen that blend films were successfully produced using plasticized CA and PVA with potential for use in biodegradable packaging applications. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

In the present study, the effect of slip on entropy generation in magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow over a rotating disk is investigated by semi-numerical analytical solution technique. The nonlinear governing equations of flow and thermal fields are reduced to ordinary differential equations by the Von Karman approach, then solved via differential transform method (DTM), a recently-developed, powerful analytical method. Related entropy generation equations are derived and nondimensionalized using geometrical and physical flow field-dependent parameters. For a rotating surface the form of slip introduced into the governing equations is rarefaction. For comparison, slip and no-slip regimes in the range 0.1 > Kn > 0 and their interaction with magnetic effects are investigated by minimum entropy generation. While minimizing entropy generation, equipartitioning is encountered between fluid friction irreversibility and Joule dissipation.  相似文献

The morphological evolution of hillocks at the unpassivated sidewalls of single-crystal metallic thin film interconnects is investigated via computer simulations using the free-moving boundary value problem. The effect of drift-diffusion anisotropy on the development of surface topographical scenarios is fully explored under the action of electromigration and capillary forces, utilizing numerous combinations of the surface texture, the drift-diffusion anisotropy and the direction of the applied electric field. The simulation studies yield analytical relationships for the velocity of the surface solitary waves and the drift velocity of electromigration-induced internal voids as a function of the applied current densities, which contain intrinsic and structural properties of the single-crystal thin films. The threshold value of the applied current density, above which electromigration-induced internal voids can be formed and may cause the catastrophic failure of interconnects by breaching, also appears explicitly in this relationship.  相似文献

Estimation of Peak Flood Discharges at Ungauged Sites Across Turkey   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
The reliable forecasting of the peak flood discharge at river basins is a common problem, and it becomes more complicated when there is inadequate recorded data. The statistical methods commonly used for the estimation of peak flood discharges are generally considered to be inadequate because of the complexity of this problem. Recently, genetic programming (GP) which is a branch of soft computing methods has attracted the attention of the hydrologists. In this study, gene-expression programming (GEP) and linear genetic programming (LGP), which are extensions to GP, in addition to logistic regression (LR) were employed in order to forecast peak flood discharges. The study covered 543 ungauged sites across Turkey. Drainage area, elevation, latitude, longitude, and return period were used as the inputs while the peak flood discharge was the output. Model comparison results revealed that GEP predicted the peak flood discharges with R 2?=?57.4?% correlation, LGP with 56?% and LR model with 42.3?%, respectively. The peak flood discharges in all river basins can now be determined using the single equation provided by the GEP model.  相似文献

During the last two decades, researchers have noticed that the use of soft computing techniques as an alternative to conventional statistical methods based on controlled laboratory or field data, gave significantly better results. Gene-expression programming (GEP), which is an extension to genetic programming (GP), has nowadays attracted the attention of researchers in prediction of hydraulic data. This study presents GEP as an alternative tool in the prediction of scour downstream of a flip-bucket spillway. Actual field measurements were used to develop GEP models. The proposed GEP models are compared with the earlier conventional GP results of others (Azamathulla et al. 2008b; RMSE = 2.347, δ = 0.377, R = 0.842) and those of commonly used regression-based formulae. The predictions of GEP models were observed to be in strictly good agreement with measured ones, and quite a bit better than conventional GP and the regression-based formulae. The results are tabulated in terms of statistical error measures (GEP1; RMSE = 1.596, δ = 0.109, R = 0.917) and illustrated via scatter plots.  相似文献

In this study, convection in a porous medium for a laminar, incompressible, non-Darcy model flow in an inclined channel has been investigated. The flow field considered is composed of porous and clear viscous layers. The solutions are carried out for both clear fluid and porous regions by using the differential transform method (DTM). For the solutions of governing equations, constant values for some parameters such as angle of inclination (φ), porous parameter (σ), and the ratio of the heights of two layers (h) are assigned. In order to verify the applied solution technique, the results obtained are compared to the already existing ones evaluated by perturbation method. It is noticed that the results by two methods are in agreement for small values of Brinkman number (Br). However, for higher values of Br, the solutions carried out by perturbation method lose accuracy but the results of the DTM are still valid. The entropy generation number (N s ) is derived and plotted by using dimensionless velocity and temperature profiles. One of the advantages of this study to similar studies is to give an open form series solution, which gives a tractable and easily applicable recurative form of nonlinear field equations. In similar studies, it is said that the equations are solved; however, neither solution technique nor accuracy or applicability of given technique are clear. The purpose of this study is to increase of the flammability properties of the glass fiber (GF)–reinforced poly (lactic acid)/polycarbonate (PLA/PC) composites. Ammonium polyphosphate (APP) and triphenyl phosphate (TPP) were used as flame retardants that are including the organic phosphor to increase flame retardancy of GF‐reinforced composites. APP, TPP, and APP‐TPP mixture flame retardant including composites were prepared by using extrusion and injection molding methods. The properties of the composites were determined by the tensile test, limiting oxygen index (LOI), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and heat release rate (HRR) test. The minimum Tg value was observed for the TPP including PLA/PC composites in DSC analysis. The highest tensile strength was observed in GF‐reinforced PLA/PC composites. In the LOI test, GF including composite was burned with the lowest concentration of oxygen, and burning time was the longest of this composite. However, the shortest burning time was obtained by using the mixture flame retardant system. The flame retardancy properties of GF‐reinforced PLA/PC composite was improved by using mixture flame retardant. When analyzed the results of HRR, time to ignition (TTI), and mass loss rate together, the best value was obtained for the composite including APP.  相似文献
