Obesity and hyperlipidemia are major risk factors for developing vascular diseases. Bee bread (BB) has been reported to exhibit some biological actions, including anti-obesity and anti-hyperlipidemic. This study aims to investigate whether bee bread can ameliorate vascular inflammation and impaired vasorelaxation activity through eNOS/NO/cGMP pathway in obese rats. Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups (n = 10/group), namely: control (normal group), obese rats (OB group), obese rats treated with bee bread (0.5 g/kg/day, OB/BB group) and obese rats treated with orlistat (10 mg/kg/day, OB/OR group). The latter three groups were given a high-fat diet (HFD) for 6 weeks to induced obesity before being administered with their respective treatments for another 6 weeks. After 12 weeks of the total experimental period, rats in the OB group demonstrated significantly higher Lee obesity index, lipid profile (total cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein), aortic proinflammatory markers (tumor necrosis factor-α, nuclear factor-κβ), aortic structural damage and impairment in vasorelaxation response to acetylcholine (ACh). Bee bread significantly ameliorated the obesity-induced vascular damage manifested by improvements in the lipid profile, aortic inflammatory markers, and the impaired vasorelaxation activity by significantly enhancing nitric oxide release, promoting endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) immunoexpression. These findings suggest that the administration of bee bread ameliorates the impaired vasorelaxation response to ACh by improving eNOS/NO/cGMP-signaling pathway in obese rats, suggesting its vascular therapeutic role.  相似文献

Amorphous anodic oxide films on InAlP have been grown at high efficiency in sodium tungstate electrolyte. The films are shown to comprise an outer layer containing indium species, an intermediate layer containing indium and aluminium species and an inner layer containing indium, aluminium and phosphorus species. The layering correlates with the influence on cation migration rates of the energies of In3+-O, Al3+-O and P5+-O bonds, which increase in this order. The film surface becomes increasingly rough with increase of the anodizing voltage as pores develop in the film, which appear to be associated with generation of oxygen gas.  相似文献

This paper uses selection criteria from various models in a bounds testing approach to cointegration to estimate the price and income elasticities of demand for total petroleum products (gasoline and diesel) and gasoline share in total products in Indonesia. The results suggest that both total products and gasoline share estimates are more responsive to changes in income than changes in the real price of petroleum products. These results have important policy implications as they suggest that policy makers may need to use market-based pricing policies and other policies such as public enlightenment in addition to regulations like minimum energy efficiency standards to promote efficiency and conservation and curb the rising consumption of petroleum products in Indonesia.  相似文献

This study estimates the electricity demand function for the residential sector of South Korea with the aim of examining the effects of improved energy efficiency, structural factors and household lifestyles on electricity consumption. In the study, time series data for the period from 1973 to 2007 is used in a structural time series model to estimate the long-term price and income elasticities and annual growth of underlying energy demand trend (UEDT) at the end of the estimation period. The result shows a long-term income elasticity of 1.33 and a long-term price elasticity of −0.27% with −0.93% as the percentage growth of UEDT at the end of the estimation period. This result suggests that, in order to encourage energy efficiency in the residential sector, the government should complement the market based pricing policies with non-market policies such as minimum energy efficiency standards and public enlightenment.  相似文献

Anodizing of InSb at 5 mA cm−2 in sodium tungstate electrolyte is shown to produce barrier-type amorphous oxide at relatively low voltages, to about 40 V, and porous-type amorphous oxide at increased voltages. The barrier-type amorphous oxide, consisting of units of In2O3 and Sb2O3, distributed relatively uniformly throughout the film, develops at a formation ratio of 2.2 ± 0.2 nm V−1. The outer 15–20% of the film also contains tungsten species. The relatively high efficiency of barrier film growth reduces significantly with transition to porous oxide, which is associated additionally with generation of oxygen at the film surface. The final oxide, at 65 V, comprises pores, of typical diameter 80 nm, orientated approximately normal to the substrate and extending from a barrier region to the film surface.  相似文献

This study describes the influence of counterion substitution on the transport of urea and water through sulfonated poly(styrene-isobutylene-styrene) (SIBS) membranes. SIBS was sulfonated to 66.4% to allow for enough ionic domains to transport urea and water through the membrane. Counterions, including alkyl-substituted ammonium ions, influenced the ionic domains creating a selective barrier that hindered the transport of urea and water through SIBS. Permeability measurements demonstrated that counterion substitution significantly affected the transport of urea. Membranes with higher charge counterions exhibited a more pronounced reduction in permeability due to the formation of crosslinks and increased restriction on molecular diffusion. Membranes substituted with ammonium salts showed reduced permeability due to the alkyl chains' hydrophobic nature, which created a physical barrier against the passage of urea molecules. Pure water flux tests indicated that counterion substitution also reduced the water flux of the membranes. Membranes with +1 counterions showed a small reduction in the water flux, while membranes with higher charge counterions and alkyl chain substitutions exhibited larger reductions, highlighting the influence of crosslinking and hydrophobicity on water transport.  相似文献

This paper describes a rapid test-procedure that can be used to derive parameters of a proposed battery model. The battery model is a non-linear dynamic equivalent circuit model, which is based on Randle’s model for electrochemical impedance [J. Power Sources 54 (1995) 393]. The level of sophistication has been selected such that it gives a satisfactory prediction of battery performance, but simple enough to enable on-line identification and adaptation of model parameters based on measurements of terminal voltage, current and temperature during usage. The paper also presents test data for a commercial 100 Ah battery including ageing effects.  相似文献
