The presence of Mn(II) in water exceeding the permitted concentration limits declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) influences individuals, animals, and the ecosystem negatively. Therefore, there is a necessity for an efficient material to eliminate this potentially toxic element from wastewater. We herein focused on the adsorptive removal of Mn(II) ions from polluted aqueous media using natural Egyptian glauconite clay (G) and its nanocomposites with modified chitosan (CS). We applied modified chitosan with glutaraldehyde (GL), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), and cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB). The utilized nanocomposites were referred to as GL-CS/G, EDTA-GL-CS/G, SDS-CS/G, and CTAB-CS/G, respectively. The point of zero charge values of the materials were estimated. The adsorption properties of the G clay and its nanocomposites toward the removal of Mn(II) ions from polluted aqueous media as well as the adsorption mechanism were explored using a batch technique. The glauconite (G) and its nanocomposites: GL-CS/G, CTAB-CS/G, EDTA-GL-CS/G, and SDS-CS/G, exhibited maximum adsorption capacity values of 3.60, 24.0, 26.0, 27.0, and 27.9 mg g?1, respectively. The adsorption results fitted well the Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. The estimated thermodynamic parameters: ΔH° (from 1.03 to 5.55 kJ/mol) and ΔG° (from ? 14.5 to ? 18.8 kJ/mol), indicated that Mn(II) ion adsorption process was endothermic, spontaneous, and physisorption controlled. Furthermore, the obtained adsorption results are encouraging and revealing a great potentiality for using the modified adsorbents as accessible adsorbents for Mn(II) ion removal from polluted aqueous solutions, depending on their reusability, high stability, and good adsorption capacities.

Coumarin, thiazole and their respective derivative products are some of the oldest and most commonly known class of nitrogen and sulphur containing compounds. In recent years there has been considerable interest in this coumarin–thiazole derivatives, which have been reported to exhibit significant biological activity and are widely used as pharmaceuticals. They are capable of imparting anti-microbial activity properties when incorporated into polymers and polymer composites. In this research, coumarin–thiazole derivative 2-(2-amino-1,3-thiazol-4-yl)-3H benzo[f]chromen-3-one (compound III), was prepared and its structure was confirmed by means of its spectra data. It was also screened for its anti-microbial activity against eight different micro-organisms when physically incorporated into a polyurethane varnish formula. Experimental coatings were manufactured on a laboratory scale and applied by means of a brush on both glass and steel panels. The results of the biological activity indicated that the polyurethane varnishes containing the 2-(2-amino-1,3-thiazol-4-yl)-3H-benzo[f]chromen-3-one (compound III) derivative, exhibit a very good antimicrobial effect. The molecular modeling study revealed that it is biologically safe, it is active and it fulfills Lipinski's rule of five. The physical and mechanical resistances of the polyurethane varnish formulations were also studied to evaluate any drawbacks associated with the addition of the derivative. The studies indicate that the physical incorporation of compound III actually enhances slightly both the physical and mechanical properties.  相似文献

The Key Expansion Function is a vital constituent component of any block cipher. Many of Key Expansion Functions generate subkeys through the algorithms which are based on Feistel or Substitution Permutation Network (SPN) structures against which cryptanalytic methods have been well researched. In this very paper, an efficient method for generating subkeys based on chaotic maps has been suggested. The phenomenon behind the proposed Key Expansion Function is the mixing property of Tent Map. Using chaotic binary sequences, the proposed Key Expansion Function satisfies the specific statistical and cryptographic properties of chaotic generators. A new Bit Extraction Technique based on IEEE-754 Floating-point Standard (binary32) is used to extract the bits of subkeys from the chaotic binary sequences. The generated subkeys are then analyzed. The results show that the given Chaos-based Key Expansion Function is well protected and fully strengthened in all respects.  相似文献
