In this study a two-dimensional graphene sheet (GS) doped with palladium (Pd) nanoparticles was physically mixed with a superactivated carbon (AC) receptor and used as a hydrogen adsorbent. The hydrogen adsorption/desorption isotherm of the Pd-doped GS catalyst/AC composite (Pd-GS/AC) is determined using a static volumetric measurement at room temperature (RT) and pressure up to 8 MPa. The experiments show that the H2 uptake capacity of 0.82wt.% for Pd-GS/AC is obviously enhanced, measuring 49% more than the 0.55wt.% for Pd-free GS/AC at RT and 8 MPa. Highly reversible behavior of Pd-GS/AC is also observed. Moreover, the isosteric heat of adsorption for Pd-GS/AC (−14 to −10 kJ/mol) is higher than that for pristine AC (−8 kJ/mol). An increase in H2 uptake in the Pd-GS/AC suggests the occurrence of a relatively strong interaction between the spilt-over H and the receptor sites due to the spillover effect.  相似文献

We consider a multi‐rate system where stream and elastic flows receive service. Both the stream and the elastic classes are associated with peak rate limitation. In contrast to the constant bit rate stream flows, the elastic flows tolerate bandwidth compression while in service. Because of the occasional bandwidth compression, the holding time of elastic flows depends on their perceived throughput. Although this model is Markovian under quite non‐restrictive assumptions, the model's state space grows exponentially with the number of traffic classes. The model is not quasi‐reversible, and therefore, it cannot be evaluated by efficient recursive formulae. We propose a method whereby the original state space is mapped to a two‐dimensional one, independently of the number of the stream and the elastic traffic classes. The special structure of the two‐dimensional model allows us to develop an efficient method that approximates the average throughputs of elastic flows. The state space reduction together with the proposed approximation provides a powerful tool for the performance analysis of this model as it allows the approximation of the average throughputs of elastic flows reasonably accurately in large models as well. We consider a multi-period staffing problem in a single-shift call center. The call center handles inbound calls, as well as some alternative back-office jobs. The call arrival process is assumed to follow a doubly non-stationary stochastic process with a random mean arrival rate. The inbound calls have to be handled as quickly as possible, while the back-office jobs, such as answering emails, may be delayed to some extent. The staffing problem is modeled as a generalized newsboy-type model under an expected cost criterion. Two different solution approaches are considered. First, by discretization of the underlying probability distribution, we explicitly formulate the expected cost newsboy-type formulation as a stochastic program. Second, we develop a robust programming formulation. The characteristics of the two methods and the associated optimal solutions are illustrated through a numerical study based on real-life data. In particular we focus on the numerical tractability of each formulation. We also show that the alternative workload of back-office jobs offers an interesting flexibility allowing to decrease the total operating cost of the call center.  相似文献

Proton-conducting membranes based on sulphonated poly (ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) polymer matrix and tin dioxide have been synthesized. Their local structure has been studied by FTIR and XRD whereas their structural features at nanometer scale has been investigated by Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). SAXS and TEM results show that incorporation of the inorganic particles in SPEEK promotes dispersion of the hydrophilic sulfonic groups in the polymer matrix, inhibiting the formation of the water-filled ionic clusters usually observed in hydrated SPEEK membranes. The changes in SPEEK nanostructure are induced by incorporation of particles modified by Tiron that promotes the connectivity between hydrated channels and reduces diffusion of alcohol, as evidenced by permeability measurements. The resulting increase of proton conductivity compared to pristine SPEEK, particularly at medium temperature (80°C), combined to an improved dimensional stability, make this family of membranes very promising for future applications in fuel cell.  相似文献

The characterization of the metabolites accumulated in the grapes of specific cultivars grown in different climates is of particular importance for viticulturists and enologists. In the present study, the metabolite profiling of grapes from the cultivars, Alvarinho, Arinto and Padeiro de Basto, of two Portuguese Controlled Denomination of Origin (DOC) regions (Vinho Verde and Lisboa) was investigated by gas chromatography-coupled time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC-TOF-MS) and an amino acid analyzer. Primary metabolites, including sugars, organic acids and amino acids, and some secondary metabolites were identified. Tartaric and malic acids and free amino acids accumulated more in grapes from vines of the DOC region of Vinho Verde than DOC Lisboa, but a principal component analysis (PCA) plot showed that besides the DOC region, the grape cultivar also accounted for the variance in the relative abundance of metabolites. Grapes from the cultivar, Alvarinho, were particularly rich in malic acid and tartaric acids in both DOC regions, but sucrose accumulated more in the DOC region of Vinho Verde.  相似文献

Recently, the importance of lysosomes in the context of the metabolic syndrome has received increased attention. Increased lysosomal cholesterol storage and cholesterol crystallization inside macrophages have been linked to several metabolic diseases, such as atherosclerosis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Two-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-B-CD) is able to redirect lysosomal cholesterol to the cytoplasm in Niemann-Pick type C1 disease, a lysosomal storage disorder. We hypothesize that HP-B-CD ameliorates liver cholesterol and intracellular cholesterol levels inside Kupffer cells (KCs). Hyperlipidemic low-density lipoprotein receptor knockout (Ldlr−/−) mice were given weekly, subcutaneous injections with HP-B-CD or control PBS. In contrast to control injections, hyperlipidemic mice treated with HP-B-CD demonstrated a shift in intracellular cholesterol distribution towards cytoplasmic cholesteryl ester (CE) storage and a decrease in cholesterol crystallization inside KCs. Compared to untreated hyperlipidemic mice, the foamy KC appearance and liver cholesterol remained similar upon HP-B-CD administration, while hepatic campesterol and 7α-hydroxycholesterol levels were back increased. Thus, HP-B-CD could be a useful tool to improve intracellular cholesterol levels in the context of the metabolic syndrome, possibly through modulation of phyto- and oxysterols, and should be tested in the future. Additionally, these data underline the existence of a shared etiology between lysosomal storage diseases and NAFLD.  相似文献

Low-temperature pack chromization is utilized in combination with various activating pretreatment methods, including rolling and electrical discharge machining, to improve the performance of SS 420 stainless steels in the simulated environments of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). The corrosion resistance and hydrophobicity of chromized steels are enhanced with the pretreatments. The rolled and chromized steel possessing a continuous, uniform, and hydrophobic coating exhibits the best corrosion resistance and stability among all tested specimens. Furthermore, the specimen exhibits the smallest interfacial contact resistance at a compaction pressure of 140 N cm−2, among all tested specimens.  相似文献

An ecological nixtamalisation process (EP) for making whole corn flour for tortillas was compared with the traditional nixtamalisation process (TP). One of the problems of TP is high level of solid losses. The aim was to evaluate the composition of these losses. In EP, dry matter losses of nejayote were from 1.2% to 1.4%, while in TP 3.2%. Nejayote from TP showed a pH of 11.9, whereas EP showed a pH close to neutral. The pericarp was retained in EP with the use of calcium salts, whereas in TP lime destroyed it almost completely. Losses of total dietary fibre in nejayote solids were about 41.2% for TP compared to an average of 17.4% for EP. Most of nejayote losses in TP were soluble fibre (30.4%), compared with EP that ranged from 6.2% to 7.9%. All compounds retained by nixtamal from EP are important sources of nutrients and dietary fibre.  相似文献
