In this paper, the non-premixed hydrogen-enriched methane-air combustion was investigated numerically with the use of a CFD code. In the first part of the study, the combustion experiments were performed in a back- pressure boiler using natural gas. The intake rate of fuel was kept constant as 45 Nm3/h while the coefficient for the air excess ratio was changed between 1.2 and 1.35. After the experiments, the numerical analyses were performed. The Fluent code was utilized as the simulation instrument. The eddy dissipation combustion model was selected to be used in the numerical analyses, since it is known that this combustion model can save computational time and fairly predict the combustion flame structure and emissions. Pure methane and natural gas were taken as fuels in the numerical analyses. The obtained results from the numerical analyses were validated with the experimental flue gas temperature and emission measurements. Then, the hydrogen-enrichment of pure methane fuel was investigated numerically in such a way that the boiler capacity (432 kW) was kept constant. The coefficient for the air excess ratio was 1.2 for all the considered combustion simulation cases. The hydrogen addition ratio was 25%, 50% and 75% by mass, respectively. The thermal NO emissions and temperature distributions in the combustion chamber were obtained according to the different hydrogen-enriched methane fuel combustion cases. In addition, the emissions contained in the flue gas together with the temperature values were calculated. The obtained results from the numerical studies indicate that the hydrogen-enrichment of methane reduces the carbon emissions, while it substantially augments the formation of the thermal NO emissions. The calculated thermal NO emission value in the flue gas is 147 ppm for the pure methane combustion case, and it is 566 ppm for the combustion case with 75% by mass of hydrogen addition ratio. Therefore, it is determined that hydrogen fuel is a pollutant from the thermal NO emission aspect for the considered enrichment ratios in the studied domestic boiler-burner system.  相似文献

In the present study, the effects of hydrogen enrichment of methane are investigated numerically from the diffusion flame structure and emissions aspect. Fluent code is utilised as the simulation tool. In the first part of the study, four experiments were conducted using natural gas as fuel. A non-premixed burner and a back-pressure boiler were utilised as the experimental setup. The natural gas fuel consumption rate was changed between 22 Nm3/h and 51 Nm3/h. After the experimental studies, the numerical simulations were performed. The non-premixed combustion model with the steady laminar flamelet model (SFM) approach was used for the calculations. The methane-air extinction mechanism was utilised for the calculation of the chemical species. The numerical results were verified with the experimental results in terms of the flue gas emissions and flue gas temperature values. In the second part of the study, four different hydrogen-enriched methane combustion cases were simulated using the same methane-air extinction mechanism, which included the hydrogen oxidation mechanism as a sub mechanism. The same energy input (432 kW) was supplied into the boiler for all the studied cases. The obtained results show that the hydrogen addition to methane significantly change the diffusion flame structure in the combustion chamber. The hydrogen-enriched flames become broader and shorter with respect to the pure methane flame. This provides better mixing of the reactants and combustion products in the flame regions due to the use of a back-pressure boiler. In this way, the maximum flame temperature values and thermal NO emissions are reduced in the combustion chamber, when the hydrogen addition ratio is less than 15% by mass. The maximum temperature value is calculated as 2030 K for the case with 15% hydrogen addition ratio by mass, while it is 2050 K for the case without hydrogen enrichment. Therefore, it is determined that the hydrogen-enriched methane combustion in a back-pressure combustion chamber has the potential of reducing both the carbon and thermal NO emissions.  相似文献

Low NOx burner and air staged combustion are widely applied to control NOx emission in coal-fired power plants. The gas-solid two-phase flow, pulverized coal combustion and NOx emission characteristics of a single low NOx swirl burner in an existing coal-fired boiler was numerically simulated to analyze the mechanisms of flame stability and in-flame NOx reduction. And the detailed NOx formation and reduction model under fuel rich conditions was employed to optimize NOx emissions for the low NOx burner with air staged combustion of different burner stoichiometric ratios. The results show that the specially-designed swirl burner structures including the pulverized coal concentrator, flame stabilizing ring and baffle plate create an ignition region of high gas temperature, proper oxygen concentration and high pulverized coal concentration near the annular recirculation zone at the burner outlet for flame stability. At the same time, the annular recirculation zone is generated between the primary and secondary air jets to promote the rapid ignition and combustion of pulverized coal particles to consume oxygen, and then a reducing region is formed as fuel-rich environment to contribute to in-flame NOX reduction. Moreover, the NOx concentration at the outlet of the combustion chamber is greatly reduced when the deep air staged combustion with the burner stoichiometric ratio of 0.75 is adopted, and the CO concentration at the outlet of the combustion chamber can be maintained simultaneously at a low level through the over-fired air injection of high velocity to enhance the mixing of the fresh air with the flue gas, which can provide the optimal solution for lower NOx emission in the existing coal-fired boilers.  相似文献

An industrial burner operating in the MILD combustion regime through internal recirculation of exhaust gases has been characterized numerically. To develop a self-sufficient numerical model of the burner, two subroutines are coupled to the CFD solver to model the air preheater section and heat losses from the burner through radiation. The resulting model is validated against experimental data on species concentration and temperature. A 3-dimensional CFD model of the burner is compared to an axisymmetric model, which allows considerable computational saving, but neglects some important burner features such as the presence of recirculation windows. Errors associated with the axisymmetric model are evaluated and discussed, as well as possible simplified procedures for engineering purposes. Modifications of the burner geometry are investigated numerically and suggested in order to enhance its performances. Such modifications are aimed at improving exhaust gases recirculation which is driven by the inlet air jet momentum. The burner is found to produce only 30 ppmv of NO when operating in MILD combustion mode. For the same air preheating the NO emissions would be of approximately 1000 ppmv in flame combustion mode. It is also shown that the burner ensures more homogeneous temperature distribution in the outer surfaces with respect to flame operation, and this is attractive for burners used in furnaces devoted to materials' thermal treatment processes. The effect of air excess on the combustion regime is also discussed.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this study, the effects on combustion characteristics and emission were investigated in a direct injection diesel engine. In experimental and numerical studies, the engine was operated at 2000 rpm. The analyzes were made in the AVL-FIRE ESE Diesel part with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software. Standard combustion chamber (SCC) and Modified combustion chamber (MCC) geometry were compared in the modeling. By means of the designed MCC combustion chamber geometry, the fuel released from the injector was directed to the piston bowl area. Therefore, the mixture was homogenized and the combustion had been improved. In addition, the evaporation rate of the mixture increased with the MCC geometry. Also, lower NO and CO emissions were obtained with the MCC model compared to the SCC model. On the other hand, diesel fuel and mass 5% hydrogen fuel was used into diesel fuel as fuel in the study. The combustion process was investigated using hydrogen in different combustion chambers. The use of hydrogen as additional fuel resulted in higher combustion pressure, temperature and NO emissions. Compared to SCC type combustion chamber in the MCC type combustion chamber used diesel fuel, CO emission decreased of 6% and 3% for hydrogen-added mixture fuel. Also, compared to SCC type combustion chamber in the MCC type combustion chamber used diesel fuel, NO emission decreased of 11% and 32% for hydrogen-added mixture fuel. Moreover, flame velocity, heat release rate and flame propagation increased with the addition of hydrogen fuel.  相似文献

氨具有氢密度高、生产成本低、基础设施完善等优点,作为一种潜在的可再生替代燃料受到了广泛的关注。目前,仅有少数研究关注氨气燃烧喷嘴的研究,针对氨气稳定燃烧喷嘴的研究尤其不足。为实现氨燃料的稳定燃烧和低污染物排放,本研究提出了一种氨用多孔介质燃烧器。对氨用多孔介质燃烧器建立了二维数值模型,并对预混氨/空气在多孔介质燃烧器中的燃烧性能进行了评价,考察了不同进口速度u0、当量比Φ和多孔介质导热系数对氨/空气火焰特性和NO排放的影响。结果表明,多孔介质燃烧器能在u0 = 3 ~ 7 m/s和Φ = 0.9 ~ 1.2条件下稳定燃烧;随着多孔介质导热系数的增大,火焰最高温度下降且火焰位置向上游移动;减小进口速度和增大当量比能够显著降低NO的排放。  相似文献

Colorless distributed combustion (CDC) has been demonstrated to provide ultra-low emission of NOx and CO, improved pattern factor and reduced combustion noise in high intensity gas turbine combustors. The key feature to achieve CDC is the controlled flow distribution, reduce ignition delay, and high speed injection of air and fuel jets and their controlled mixing to promote distributed reaction zone in the entire combustion volume without any flame stabilizer. Large gas recirculation and high turbulent mixing rates are desirable to achieve distributed reactions thus avoiding hot spot zones in the flame. The high temperature air combustion (HiTAC) technology has been successfully demonstrated in industrial furnaces which inherently possess low heat release intensity. However, gas turbine combustors operate at high heat release intensity and this result in many challenges for combustor design, which include lower residence time, high flow velocity and difficulty to contain the flame within a given volume. The focus here is on colorless distributed combustion for stationary gas turbine applications. In the first part of investigation effect of fuel injection diameter and air injection diameter is investigated in detail to elucidate the effect fuel/air mixing and gas recirculation on characteristics of CDC at relatively lower heat release intensity of 5 MW/m3 atm. Based on favorable conditions at lower heat release intensity the effect of confinement size (reduction in combustor volume at same heat load) is investigated to examine heat release intensity up to 40 MW/m3 atm. Three confinement sizes with same length and different diameters resulting in heat release intensity of 20 MW/m3 atm, 30 MW/m3 atm and 40 MW/m3 atm have been investigated. Both non-premixed and premixed modes were examined for the range of heat release intensities. The heat load for the combustor was 25 kW with methane fuel. The air and fuel injection temperature was at normal 300 K. The combustor was operated at 1 atm pressure. The results were evaluated for flow field, fuel/air mixing and gas recirculation from numerical simulations and global flame images, and emissions of NO, CO from experiments. It was observed that the larger air injection diameter resulted in significantly higher levels of NO and CO whereas increase in fuel injection diameter had minimal effect on the NO and resulted in small increase of CO emissions. Increase in heat release intensity had minimal effect on NO emissions, however it resulted in significantly higher CO emissions. The premixed combustion mode resulted in ultra-low NO levels (<1 ppm) and NO emission as low as 5 ppm was obtained with the non-premixed flame mode.  相似文献

This paper presents an experimental study of mild flameless combustion regime applied to methane/hydrogen mixtures in a laboratory-scale pilot furnace with or without air preheating. Results show that mild flameless combustion regime is achieved from pure methane to pure hydrogen whatever the CH4/H2 proportion. The main reaction zone remains lifted from the burner exit, in the mixing layer of fuel and air jets ensuring a large dilution correlated to low NOx emissions whereas CO2 concentrations obviously decrease with hydrogen proportion. A decrease of NOx emissions is measured for larger quantity of hydrogen due mainly to the decrease of prompt NO formation. Without air preheating, a slight increase of the excess air ratio is required to control CO emissions. For pure hydrogen fuel without air preheating, mild flameless combustion regime leads to operating conditions close to a "zero emission furnace", with ultra-low NOx emissions and without any carbonated species emissions.  相似文献

The utilization of hydrogen as a fuel in free jet burners faces particular challenges due to its special combustion properties. The high laminar and turbulent flame velocities may lead to issues in flame stability and operational safety in premixed and partially premixed burners. Additionally, a high adiabatic combustion temperature favors the formation of thermal nitric oxides (NO). This study presents the development and optimization of a partially premixed hydrogen burner with low emissions of nitric oxides. The single-nozzle burner features a very short premixing duct and a simple geometric design. In a first development step, the design of the burner is optimized by numerical investigation (Star CCM+) of mixture formation, which is improved by geometric changes of the nozzle. The impact of geometric optimization and of humidification of the combustion air on NOx emissions is then investigated experimentally. The hydrogen flame is detected with an infrared camera to evaluate the flame stability for different burner configurations. The improved mixture formation by geometric optimization avoids temperature peaks and leads to a noticeable reduction in NOx emissions for equivalence ratios below 0.85. The experimental investigations also show that NOx emissions decrease with increasing relative humidity of combustion air. This single-nozzle forms the basis for multi-nozzle burners, where the desired output power can flexibly be adjusted by the number of single nozzles.  相似文献

This study is concerned with combustion characteristics of a biogas under varying turbulator angle conditions and hydrogen addition in a combustor. Turbulator angles have been changed 15°–45° at intervals of 15°. Investigations have been performed by using a CFD code. PDF/Mixture Fraction combustion and k-? standard turbulence models were used during predictions. The predicted temperature and emission profiles of the biogas are compared with the existing experimental measurements under turbulator angle of 15°. These predictions are in good agreement with the measurements in terms of distributions and values. It has been determined that percentage differences between the measured and the predicted values vary from about 0% to 12%. Then, predictions have been performed under 30° and 45° of turbulator angle cases and compared with each other. The effect of the hydrogen addition to the biogas fuel on combustion performances of the biogas has also been studied in the present study. Findings show that changes in turbulator angles highly affect the temperature and emission profiles of the biogas throughout the combustion chamber. Especially, the flame temperature zones move to the downstream of the burner. It may be also said that the flame temperatures of the biogas increase as the turbulator angle is changed due to better fuel–air mixture. In addition to these findings, it is demonstrated that the axial temperature levels increase as the hydrogen is added into the biogas.  相似文献

燃料质量浓度分布在一定程度上影响混合气体的燃烧效率,能使燃气充分混合的同轴射流、旋片同轴、轴切结合、切向旋流等典型混合模式在航空发动机、燃气轮机及火箭发动机等先进燃烧技术应用中较为常见。因此,设计了甲烷/空气部分预混的燃烧实验装置,较为系统地实验研究了旋流数和轴向流速对混合气体在约束空间燃烧室内燃烧特性的影响。结果表明:对于有中心射流的混合结构,燃气轴向流速较低时产生黄色火焰,增大轴向流速,黄色火焰转为蓝色湍流火焰,且温度分布趋于均匀;纯切向旋流燃烧器的掺混效果较好,受燃气轴向流速的影响小,火焰结构稳定,均为蓝色火焰,温度轴/径向分布均匀且趋势一致,同当量比下燃烧产物中的污染物体积分数最小。  相似文献

Combustion characteristics of methane jet flames in an industrial burner working in high temperature combustion regime were investigated experimentally and numerically to clarify the effects of swirling high temperature air on combustion.Speziale-Sarkar-Gatski(SSG) Reynolds stress model,Eddy-Dissipation Model(EDM),Discrete Ordinates Method(DTM) combined with Weighted-Sum-of-Grey Gases Model(WSGG) were employed for the numerical simulation.Both Thermal-NO and Prompt-NO mechanism were considered to evaluate the NO formation.Temperature distribution,NO emissions by experiment and computation in swirling and non-swirling patterns show combustion characteristics of methane jet flames are totally different.Non-swirling high temperature air made high NO formation while significant NO prohibition were achieved by swirling high temperature air.Furthermore,velocity fields,dimensionless major species mole fraction distributions and Thermal-NO molar reaction rate profiles by computation interpret an inner exhaust gas recirculation formed in the combustion zone in swirling case.  相似文献

以工业炉的高温空气燃烧技术应用为背景,对一个新型轴向旋流式单烧嘴燃烧室内天然气的高温空气燃烧特性进行了数值研究。采用数值模拟的方法研究了同心式轴向旋流燃烧器(HCASbumer)中螺旋肋片的旋转角度对燃烧特性的影响,其中湍流采用Reynolds应力模型,气相燃烧模拟采用β函数形式的PDF燃烧模型,采用离散坐标法模拟辐射换热过程,NOx模型为热力型与快速型。计算结果表明,对预热空气采用旋转射流时,能明显降低NOx生成量。对于HCAS型燃烧器,随着空气射流旋转角度的增大,燃烧室内的回流区域增大增强,降低了局部的氧体积分数分布,燃烧室中平均温度和最高温度都有所增加,且燃烬程度大幅度提高,而局部高温区缩小,只在靠近入口处出现。总的NOx排放量随着空气射流旋转角度的增大先减小,后增大。因此,适当调整肋片的旋转角度可以降低NOx生成量。  相似文献

The purpose of this study is to determine how different design parameters in an idealised small-scale combustor affect the emission of particulates in the flue gas and to provide insight that can be used for design optimisation. The design parameters are the primary air factor, the total air factor and the magnitude of swirling flow in the combustion chamber. Particles from the reactor were collected from two different sampling lines, one located in the combustion zone, just above the fuel bed, and the other in the flue stack after the reactor. The measurements show that this burner gives very low emissions of particulates and CO in the flue gas. Furthermore, the concentration of particles in the flue gas is uncoupled to the concentration of particles immediately above the fuel bed, probably as a result of a well-designed secondary air supply. The variable that had the strongest effect on the total particulate emission from the combustor was the total air factor. In order to understand the qualitative differences in the flow nature between different operating conditions, CFD simulations of the flow field were also performed.  相似文献

为了开发适用于富氧燃烧的NO抑制技术,以对向流扩散火焰这一扩散燃烧的典型形态为对象,利用所建立的基元反应动力学模型研究了燃料稀释(CO2为稀释剂)以及速度梯度的改变对富氧空气/甲烷扩散火焰中NO生成的影响.用CO2稀释燃料甲烷得到的计算结果表明,随着燃料中CO2浓度的增大,火焰结构和NO生成的机理发生了显著变化,NO排放指数EINO(Emission index of NO)单调减少.改变速度梯度发现,随着速度梯度的增加,热力型NO质量生成速率以及EINO快速下降.这些研究表明,用CO2稀释燃料以及增加速度梯度可以减少富氧火焰中NO的生成.  相似文献

In nonpremixed combustion, edge flames can form as a region of flame propagation or flame recession. Forwardly propagating edge flames, as occur in lifted flames, have a local gas velocity at the flame edge that is from unburned partially premixed fuel and air into the flame. These flames represent an ignition process, and permit the flame itself to either stabilize against an incoming gas stream or propagate into unburned fuel and air. Negative edge flames represent the opposite case of a local gas velocity from burned products through the flame edge. The negative edge flame represents a local extinction process, and occurs, for example, during vortex-induced extinction of a nonpremixed flame sheet. A technique for generating steady negative edge flames in a standard counterflow burner is presented, which permits detailed examination of their properties. A coannular counterflow burner is used to create a strain gradient that quenches a central diffusion flame. Unlike previous research on strain-induced flame edges, the axisymmetric flow field ensures gas flow from products through the edge. Measurements of the edge flame's sensitivity to global strain rates and fuel mixtures are presented, along with measurements of the edge flame structure using OH fluorescence and CH emission imaging.  相似文献

The use of fossil fuel is expected to increase significantly by midcentury because of the large rise in the world energy demand despite the effective integration of renewable energies in the energy production sector. This increase, alongside with the development of stricter emission regulations, forced the manufacturers of combustion systems, especially gas turbines, to develop novel combustion techniques for the control of NOx and CO2 emissions, the latter being a greenhouse gas responsible for more than 60% to the global warming problem. The present review addresses different burner designs and combustion techniques for clean power production in gas turbines. Combustion and emission characteristics, flame instabilities, and solution techniques are presented, such as lean premixed air‐fuel (LPM) and premixed oxy‐fuel combustion techniques, and the combustor performance is compared for both cases. The fuel flexibility approach is also reviewed, as one of the combustion techniques for controlling emissions and reducing flame instabilities, focusing on the hydrogen‐enrichment and the integrated fuel‐flexible premixed oxy‐combustion approaches. State‐of‐the‐art burner designs for gas turbine combustion applications are reviewed in this study, including stagnation point reverse flow (SPRF) burner, dry low NOx (DLN) and dry low‐emission (DLE) burners, EnVironmental burners (including EV, AEV, and SEV burners), perforated plate (PP) burner, and micromixer (MM) burner. Special emphasis is made on the MM combustor technology, as one of the most recent advances in gas turbines for stable premixed flame operation with wide turndown and effective control of NOx emissions. Since the generation of pure oxygen is prerequisite to oxy‐combustion, oxygen‐separation membranes became of immense importance either for air separation for clean oxy‐combustion applications or for conversion/splitting of the effluent CO2 into useful chemical and energy products. The different carbon‐capture technologies, along with the most recent carbon‐utilization approaches towards CO2 emissions control, are also reviewed.  相似文献

We review research on lean methane combustion in porous burners, with an emphasis on practical aspects of burner design and operation and the application of the technology to real-world problems. In particular we focus on ‘ultra-lean’ combustion, where the methane concentration is actually at or below the lean flammability limit for a free flame (5% methane by volume in air). Porous burners are an advanced combustion technology whereby a premixed fuel/air mixture burns within the cavities of a solid porous matrix. They are capable of burning low-calorific value fuels and very lean fuel/air mixtures that would not normally be flammable, potentially allowing the exploitation of what would otherwise be wasted energy resources. Possible lean-burn applications include the reburn of exhaust gases from existing combustion systems, and the mitigation of fugitive methane emissions. Porous burners operate on the principle that the solid porous matrix serves as a means of recirculating heat from the hot combustion products to the incoming reactants. This results in burning velocities higher than those for a free flame, as well as extended lean flammability limits. Burner performance is also characterised by low emissions of combustion related pollutants and stable operation over a wide range of fuel concentrations and flow rates. Stable combustion of methane/air mixtures below the conventional lean limit has been observed by a number of researchers; in one study the combustion of a mixture with a fuel concentration of only 1% was reported. A number of design considerations are important as regards optimising burner performance for lean-burn applications. Foremost among these is the selection of a suitable material for the porous matrix. Possibilities include packed beds of alumina spheres or saddles, and reticulated foams made of silicon carbide or high temperature metal alloys. Other potentially significant design issues include the length of the porous bed, the use of ‘multi-section’ designs where different porous materials are used in each section, the incorporation of external heat exchangers to supplement the heat recirculation provided by the porous matrix, and the ability to operate the burner at elevated pressures. There is an extensive body of research relating to porous burners, comprising experimental and numerical investigations. However the majority of previous studies have been directed towards the use of porous burners for radiant heating applications rather than for the combustion of low-calorific value fuels. Consequently there is a lack of reliable data relating specifically to ultra-lean combustion. We identify specific areas where further research is required to progress this field. These include the influence on burner performance of the design considerations listed above, the stability of the combustion process to fluctuations in fuel concentration and flow rate, the development of reliable models specifically for ultra-lean combustion in practical burners, and the investigation of issues relating to scale-up and commercial application.  相似文献

提出了一种多段式自预热燃烧器及其4种典型的预热室结构,通过计算流体力学(CFD)方法研究了燃烧室内流场、烟气卷吸率、温度场、燃气燃尽率以及NOx体积分数,并与传统燃烧器的情况进行了对比.结果表明:与传统燃烧器相比,多段式自预热燃烧器改变了燃烧室内流场,对低热值燃料适应性强,其预热室结构同时影响烟气卷吸率和预热效果,并最终影响燃尽率与NOx体积分数;此外,燃烧器负荷对燃尽率影响甚微,但对NOx体积分数影响较大.  相似文献

为了响应政府业及民用天然气锅炉达到超低氮排放,要求绝大多数天然气锅炉采用低氮燃烧器+烟气再循环系统的技术路线,实施后普遍出现NOx、CO含量偏高、炉膛振动较大等问题。借助116 MW天然气锅炉进行试验研究,研究了燃烧器燃料配比、燃烧火焰长度、助燃空气氧含量三个因素对NOx及CO的影响,并对投入烟气再循环前后炉膛振动情况进行了检测。试验表明:燃烧器燃料内外配比对NOx、CO生成影响较大,两者呈现相反趋势变化;燃烧火焰长度对NOx生成影响较大,对CO含量影响较小;助燃空气氧含量对NOx、CO生成以及锅炉振动影响较大。三种影响因素相比,助燃空气氧含量影响更为突出。  相似文献
