Abstract:The development of intelligent substation and intelligent power grid demand a higher performance of time synchronization in electric power system, in this paper, a basic method of network time synchronization is explained, and the main principle of IEEE 1588's realization at high accuracy clock synchronization is analyzed. Two synchronization methods, namely point-to-point IEEE 1588 and network IEEE 1588 are experimentally verified based on the study of IEEE 1588 master clock, slave clock and switch. The results show that above two clock synchronization methods can both meet synchronization accuracy requirements of intelligent substation.
