Abstract:In this paper, a systematic method based on shape sensitivity analysis is proposed to optimize the blank shape of arbitrary shape cups in deep-drawing.The final deformation shape is defined by the drawn piece with a uniform trimming allowance at the flange,the corresponding initial blank i.e. the optimal blank shape which gives the final shape after deformation can be found.By using a well-known dynamic explicit analysis code LS-DYNA3D,the deformation of the assuming initial blank and the offset blank are calculated and the shape sensitivity of the outmost node can be obtained numerically,then the initial blank is modified and the deformation process is analyzed again.Only after a few times of modification,the contour error reaches a specified allowance.
