The Interview for Decisional Abilities (IDA): a tool to assess the decisional capacity of abused and neglected older adults

We present the Interview for Decisional Abilities (IDA), a semi-structured tool for use by adult protective services (APS) workers as part of their comprehensive assessments of clients. The IDA was created in response to a Federal mandate to standardize the procedures and competencies of APS agencies with a view to improving client assessments and facilitating cross-jurisdictional research on adult mistreatment. The proximal aim of the IDA is to guide workers in gathering information on the ability of suspected victims of adult mistreatment to make decisions about the risks they face.     

Elder Abuse and Neglect vs. Parricide: A Letter From Russia

In Russia, elder abuse is rarely discussed in the professional literature and the media. However, it is posited that parricide can be considered a form of elder abuse in Russia, as the line between elder abuse and parricide can be vague. Instances of parricide can appear trivial, hardly realized as such by victims and the social environment. Borderline cases can include involving older people in binge drinking, denying them help, and manipulating them to commit suicide. The perpetrators are often nonpsychotic, although sometimes exhibiting abnormal personality traits. Anger toward the victim can be absent on the part of the perpetrator, with their actions often driven by economic desires. A concluding point is that for better prevention of parricide and, therefore, elder abuse, it should not be considered only an unusual horrific crime committed by the mentally ill.

国内语言焦虑与大学英语学习研究述评

在国外，对语言焦虑的研究起步较早，成果也较多。然而国内此类研究主要始于2000年，虽然短短的几年，但所发表的论文很多。作者仅从语言焦虑对听说读写的作用以及与英语学习成绩相关性两个角度，对国内学者发表于国内各种刊物上的调查报告和实证研究进行综述，在指出这些研究不足之处的同时提出今后研究的建议，最后简要探讨了焦虑研究对英语教学的启示。

张庆五教授户籍管理学术观点述评

作为户籍管理问题专家 ,张庆五教授的研究领域涉及到户籍制度史、户籍制度改革、户口登记、户口统计、户口迁移、流动人口管理等诸多方面。在中国户籍制度史研究方面 ,他的成果为深入研究民国户籍制度史打下了良好的基础。他很好地总结了户口登记和户口统计两个制度之间的关系 ,主张应把市镇建制标准和城乡人口的划分作为两个问题分别考虑 ,主张改革人口管理统计体制。他认为我国现行户口迁移政策既有弊端 ,又有积极功能 ,认为我国现阶段通过户口迁移控制大城市人口机械增长具有必要性。他认为应该根据我国的国情 ,以现行户口登记制度的基本原则为依据来表述流动人口的概念。他估算分析了我国流动人口的规模、特点和发展趋势。他依据乡镇工业的发展状况 ,乡村城市化的要求 ,鲜明地主张以小城镇为先导改革户籍制度
