Purpose

To evaluate the effect of metabolic parameters of pretreatment primary tumor and regional lymph nodes with F-18-FDG PET/CT compared with MRI findings for the prognostic value and disease-free survival (DFS) in locally advanced cervical cancer.

Material and Methods

From 2011 to 2016, 112 patients with a diagnosis of cervical cancer stages IB2-IVA treated with concomitant chemoradiation therapy with 3D intracavitary brachytherapy were analyzed. From this group, 50 patients who underwent pretreatment and posttreatment FDG PET/CT and MRI were enrolled. LRFFS, DFS, and overall survival were analyzed in comparison with FDG PET/CT and MRI data. Relationship between SUVmax data and DFS was also assessed.

Results

The median followup was 21 months, and median age was 54 years. The estimated 5-year locoregional failure-free survival, DFS, and overall survival rates were 87.4%, 70%, and 81%, respectively. DFS was 59.5% in patients with nodal metastases in FDG PET/CT and 100% in node negative patients (p:0,017). DFS was 50% and 79.4% in MRI node-positive and in node-negative patients, respectively (p:0,260). In addition, the nodal SUVmax (p: 0.005) and posttreatment response in FDG PET-CT (p < 0.001) were significant prognostic factors for DFS. Furthermore, primary tumor volume in MRI (p:0,982), node positivity in MRI (p:0,301), and response in posttreatment MRI (p:0,26) are not significant prognostic factors for DFS.

Conclusion

As a result, FDG PET/CT has higher accuracy than MRI in detecting lymph node metastasis, and tumor volume reduction on FDG PET/CT images was greater than that on MRI images after CCRT.  相似文献

AIM:To evaluate the outcome of chronic hepatitis B(CHB)in children with or without malignancies.METHODS:Twenty four children(15 boys and 9 girls)with malignancies,followed up by the pediatric gastroenterology outpatient clinic for CHB between January 2000 and December 2013,were enrolled in the study(Group 1).Group 2 was formed with twenty five children(11 girls and14 boys)diagnosed with CHB without malignancies.The data from the patients’records were compared between the two groups.RESULTS:Hepatitis B e antigen(HBe Ag)/anti HBe seroconversion was observed in 3 patients(12.5%)in group 1 and 15 patients(60%)in group 2,with annual seroconversion rates of 1.61%and 16.6%,respectively,and the difference was significant(P0.01).One patient(6.6%)in Group 1 and 9 patients(53%)in Group 2 showed HBe Ag/anti HBe seroconversion after treatment and the difference between the two groups was significant(P0.06)Loss of hepatitis B surface antigen was observed in one patient in each of group1 and 2.No clinical,laboratory and imaging findings of liver disease were observed in any of the patients at the end of the study.CONCLUSION:HBe Ag/anti HBe seroconversion rate was lower in patients who had recovered from cancer.  相似文献

Different methods have been used throughout the years for syndesmotic injury but there is no consensus on the ideal treatment. Some methods are expensive and some have more complications. The aim of this study is to compare single suture endobutton with double suture endobutton and screw fixation for syndesmotic injury.Sixty nine patients with syndesmotic injury with fibular fractures whom were treated with a single interosseous suture endobutton system (ZipTightTM, Zimmer Biomet), a double interosseous suture endobutton system (ZipTightTM, Zimmer Biomet) and 1 syndesmotic screw (TST, Istanbul, Turkey) were included in this study. Functional and radiological results from patient records between 2015 and 2018 were retrospectively evaluated.Twenty patients were treated with the double interosseous suture endobutton, 23 were treated with the single interosseous suture endobutton, and 26 were treated with traditional AO screw fixation. Three patients from the screw fixation group (11.5%) required revision surgery (P < .05). All the radiologic and clinical outcomes were statistical similar in all 3 groups.Our findings showed that the interosseous suture endobutton system is at least as safe as the screw fixation technique for treatment of syndesmosis joint injuries and can be used as an alternative to the screw method. The interosseous suture endobutton system eliminates the need for a second surgery to remove the hardware, which minimizes the probability of re-diastasis. Since our results showed no statistical difference between single and double interosseous suture endobutton systems, the less costly single endobutton system may be the better alternative.  相似文献

Abstract

Aim: Dietary miRNAs in foods were recently suggested to be absorbed into the human circulation and engage in human gene regulation. This started a debate on their possible impacts on human diseases which need further investigation. In this study, we aimed to identify the putative functions and possible implications of selected Xeno-miRs in human diseases by using bioinformatic tools.

Methods: Seventy-five human absorbable Xeno-miR candidates were selected from literature and narrowed down the list to miRNAs that share sequence homologies with human miRNAs. Sixteen distinct Xeno-miRs of animal species (cow, pig, chicken) were identified to have homologs in human and they were subsequently analyzed with target prediction, functional and pathway analysis tools.

Results and Conclusion: Thirteen human genes were common targets of the miRNA sets grouped by species and shown evidence of associations with various cancer categories, specifically in large intestine adenocarcinoma by Ingenuity Pathway Analysis. miRNA functional enrichment analyses also highlighted the putative involvements of the dietary miRNAs in cancer pathways. Our effort provides “in silico” evidence for implications of animal-derived dietary miRNAs in cancer-associated pathways, and this shed on light the necessities of future translational research design to investigate the roles of dietary Xeno-miRs in cancer pathophysiology and nutrition-based interventions towards cancer management.  相似文献

Inflammation in the liver is an extraintestinal manifestation that is frequently seen during inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). The authors investigated histopathologycal, ultrastructural and antioxidant effects of dexmedetomidine (Dex) on liver during trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced inflammatory bowel disease. Thirty-two BALB/c mice were divided (n?=?8) as follows: control; Dex (dexmedetomidine) (30?μg/kg) for 6 days; TNBS 150?μL, TNBS?+?ethanol (50% w/v) intrarectally; TNBS?+?Dex. The histopathological and ultrastructural changes were evaluated. The levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), activity of antioxidant enzymes (GPx and SOD) were measured in liver tissue. Induction of colitis induced histopathological and ultrastructural changes of damage in liver. Those changes were markedly reduced in the TNBS?+?Dex group and that reduction was even significant in comparison to the TNBS group. MDA levels were significantly higher in the TNBS group and dexmedetomidine significantly elevated SOD levels in the TNBS?+?Dex group. These results suggest that the administration of dexmedetomidine reduces the histopathological and ultrastructural damage and increases the defense capacity against oxidative damage on liver in this IBD mice model.  相似文献

Conclusions: This study revealed a significant correlation between red-green-blue (RGB) values of tympanic membrane (TM) images and the presence of effusion in the middle ear. These results confirm that endoscopic RGB evaluation is a rapid and non-invasive procedure yielding objective results. Objective: To investigate, in cases of otitis media with effusion (OME), the correlation of the TM color changes with the presence and viscosity of the effusion in the middle ear. Methods: Endoscopic images of the TMs of 52 patients (group 1) and 52 healthy controls (group 2) were taken during their otologic examinations. RGB values of particular points were measured on the TM images of both groups. Additionally, in group 1 the viscosity of each effusion taken by paracentesis during surgery was also measured intraoperatively with a viscometer. Patients with viscosity values lower and higher than 450 cP (centipoise) were subdivided into groups 1a and 1b, respectively. Results: Study and control groups were comparable regarding the number of patients and their mean ages (p > 0.05). Statistically significant differences were found in RGB values of the TM between groups 1 and 2, but not between groups 1a and 1b.  相似文献
