Chain extension/branching by reactive processing is a well-known method to enhance the rheological properties of polymers. In this study, pyromellitic dianhydride, poly(glycolic acid), triglycidyl isocyanurate, and bisphenol A diglycidyl ether were used as chain extender/branching agents to produce branched Polyethylene terephthalate (PETs) with four different molecular structures. According to the linear rheological characterizations, the storage modulus and complex viscosity of modified PET samples enhanced significantly after branching. The shear viscosities of modified PET show a pronounced shear-thinning behavior and a remarkable increase at low frequencies, which can be an indication of the existence of long-chain branches (LCBs) in the molecular structure of polymer and broadening the molecular weight distribution. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis were used to investigate the effect of branching agents on the chemical structure and thermal properties of PET, respectively. DSC results show that higher amounts of LCBs lead to lower melting and crystallization temperatures.  相似文献

A simplified dynamic mathematical model for a simulated moving‐bed adsorption process is presented. The model is adopted to simulate the separation process of p‐xylene from the other 8‐carbon aromatics by means of the Parex? technology. Operating conditions and the moving‐bed structure for a commercial plant were used and the performance of the unit was simulated. The model results are in good agreement with the findings of similar existing studies. Comparison of the results of this simplified model with those obtained by other researches indicates a considerable decrease in central processing unit (CPU) time.  相似文献

In this paper, a discrete‐time piecewise affine (PWA) model of a wind turbine during Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) region is identified. A clustering‐based identification method is utilized to create PWA maps for nonlinear aerodynamic torque and thrust force functions. This method exploits the combined use of clustering, pattern recognition, and parameter identification techniques. The well‐known K‐means clustering method is employed along with a perceptron‐based multiclassifier for pattern recognition and the least squared technique for parameter estimation. The identified maps are approximated the nonlinear static functions of the dynamic model of the wind turbine. Characteristics of a 5‐MW wind turbine are considered and the resulting model, which consists of 25 subregions is compared with the nonlinear dynamic model. Two test cases are studied in order to validate the presented model. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and accuracy of the PWA model such that the response of the identified PWA model is fitted well to the nonlinear one. The PWA model identified in this paper can be widely used for advanced control systems design and long‐term performance and security assessment of the power grid.  相似文献

This study proposes a systematic approach for retrofitting a steam-injection gas turbine (SIGT) with a multi-effect thermal vapor compression (METVC) desalination system. The retrofitted unit's product cost of the fresh water (RUPC) was used as a performance criterion, which comprises the thermodynamic, economic, and environmental attributes when calculating the total annual cost of the SIGT–METVC system. For the feasibility study of retrofitting the SIGT plant with the METVC desalination system, the effects of two key parameters were analyzed using response surface methodology (RSM) based on a central composite design (CCD): the steam air ratio (SR) and the temperature difference between the effects of the METVC system (?TMETVC) on the fresh water production (Qfreshwater) and the net power generation (Wnet) of the SIGT–METVC system. Multi-objective optimization (MOO) which minimizes the modified total annual cost (MTAC) and maximizes the fresh water flow rate was performed to optimize the RUPC of the SIGT–METVC system. The best Pareto optimal solution showed that the SIGT–METVC system with five effects is the best one among the systems with 4–6 effects. This system under optimal operating conditions can save 21.07% and 9.54% of the RUPC, compared to the systems with four and six effects, respectively.  相似文献

We studied the optimization of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) removal from aqueous solution using the synthesized zero-valent iron nanoparticles stabilized with sepiolite clay (S-ZVIN), under various parameters such as reaction time (min), initial solution pH and concentration of S-ZVIN (g·L?1) using response surface methodology (RSM). The kinetic study of Cr(VI) was conducted using three types of the most commonly used kinetic models including pseudo zero-order, pseudo first-order, and pseudo second-order models. The rate of reduction reaction showed the best fit with the pseudo first-order kinetic model. The process optimization results revealed a high agreement between the experimental and the predicted data (R2=0.945, Adj-R2=0.890). The results of statistical analyses showed that reaction time was the most impressive factor influencing the efficiency of removal process. The optimum conditions for maximum response (98.15%) were achieved at the initial pH of 4.7, S-ZVIN concentration of 1.3 g·L?1 and the reaction time of 75 min.  相似文献

Abstract

Discourses regarding homeownership in the United States emphasize housing as an economic investment. This focus fosters a number of problems, including inflated housing values, increased segregation, economic divisions, and the foreclosure crisis. Community land trusts (CLTs) put land in a non-profit trust to keep it affordable long-term. We examine CLTs as affordable housing organizations where individual residents own homes in the trust and lease the land underneath from the CLT. Interviews of CLT homeowners and staff in Minnesota, USA, show that the use value of CLT housing creates opportunities for different life choices. CLT homeowners cite stability and autonomy as the primary benefits of homeownership. They expressed newfound confidence and freedom to pursue personal goals and live less restricted lives after moving into CLT homes, a finding also emphasized by CLT staff. Limited equity housing such as CLTs can both reinforce dominant meanings of homeownership as providing security and autonomy, while also fostering access and affordability for low-income residents.  相似文献

Implementing differential rotation speeds of pin and shoulder in the friction stir welding process is considered. Experimental investigations were carried out using a newly designed and fabricated apparatus for dual-rotation speed friction stir welding. Metallographic studies demonstrated that appropriate selection of separate pin and the shoulder rotation speeds not only results in defect-free joints, but also affects the weld zone by controlling the heat input delivered. An energy model for predicting maximum temperature was extended to the dual-rotation speed friction stir process. The model was verified using the previous experimental results reported in the literature.  相似文献
