In this paper, we examine the impact of antenna correlation on transmit antenna selection with receive maximal ratio combining (TAS/MRC) in multiple‐input multiple‐output multiuser underlay cognitive radio network (MIMO‐MCN) over a Nakagami‐m fading environment. The secondary network under consideration consists of a single source and M destinations equipped with multiple correlated antennas at each node. The primary network composed of L primary users, each of which is equipped with multiple correlated antennas. For the considered underlay spectrum sharing paradigm, the transmission power of the proposed secondary system is limited by the peak interference limit on the primary network and the maximum transmission power at the secondary network. In particular, we derive exact closed‐form expressions for the outage probability and average symbol error rate of the proposed secondary system. To gain further insights, simple asymptotic closed‐form expressions for the outage probability and symbol error rate are provided to obtain the achievable diversity order and coding gain of the system. In addition, the impact of antenna correlation on the secondary user ergodic capacity has been investigated by deriving closed‐form expressions for the secondary user capacity. The derived analytical formulas herein are supported by numerical and simulation results to clarify the main contributions. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper studies the behavior of the low‐complexity switch‐and‐examine diversity combining (SEC) and switch‐and‐examine diversity combining with post‐examine selection (SECps) antenna selection schemes with interference. In this paper, we first derive the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the end‐to‐end (e2e) signal‐to‐interference plus noise ratio at the selection scheme combiner output. This CDF is then used to derive closed‐form expressions for the e2e outage and symbol error probabilities for the independent nonidentically distributed and independent identically distributed cases of diversity branches. In the analysis, the channels of the desired user and the interferers are assumed to follow Rayleigh distribution. Furthermore, to have more details about the system insights, the performance is evaluated at the high signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) values where the diversity order and coding gain are derived and analyzed. The derived analytical and asymptotic results are validated via a comparison with Monte‐Carlo simulations. Main findings show that with interference power does not scale with average SNR; the system can still achieve performance gain when more receive antennas are used. This happens at the values of switching threshold that are close to average SNR. Also, results illustrate that the interference is noticeably affecting the gain achieved in system performance when more antennas are used. Furthermore, findings show that the SECps selection scheme outperforms the conventional SEC scheme when more antennas are added with the switching threshold is much larger than the average SNR. Finally, findings show that the SEC and SECps antenna selection schemes are efficient for systems which operate at the range of low SNR values and this makes them attractive candidates to be implemented in the emerging mobile broadband communication systems. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems are commonly used to mitigate frequency-selective multipath fading and provide high-speed data transmission. In this paper, we derive new union bounds on the error probability of a coded OFDM system in wireless environments. In particular, we consider convolutionally coded OFDM systems employing single and multiple transmit antennas over correlated block fading (CBF) channels with perfect channel state information (CSI). Results show that the new union bound is tight to simulation results. In addition, the bound accurately captures the effect of the correlation between sub-carriers channels. It is shown that as the channel becomes more frequency-selective, the performance get better due to the increased frequency diversity. Moreover, the bound also captures the effect of multi-antenna as space diversity. The proposed bounds can be applied for coded OFDM systems employing different coding schemes over different channel models.  相似文献

Block-fading is a popular channel model that approximates the behavior of different wireless communication systems. In this paper, a union bound on the error probability of binary-coded systems over block-fading channels is proposed. The bound is based on uniform interleaving of the coded sequence prior to transmission over the channel. The distribution of error bits over the fading blocks is computed. For a specific distribution pattern, the pairwise error probability is derived. Block-fading channels modeled as Rician and Nakagami distributions are studied. We consider coherent receivers with perfect and imperfect channel side information (SI) as well as noncoherent receivers employing square-law combining. Throughout the paper, imperfect SI is obtained using pilot-aided estimation. A lower bound on the performance of iterative receivers that perform joint decoding and channel estimation is obtained assuming the receiver knows the correct data and uses them as pilots. From this, the tradeoff between channel diversity and channel estimation is investigated and the optimal channel memory is approximated analytically. Furthermore, the optimal energy allocation for pilot signals is found for different channel memory lengths.  相似文献

An experimental campaign was carried out studying laminar and turbulent heat transfer in uniformly heated smooth glass and rough stainless steel microtubes from 0.5 mm down to 0.12 mm. Heat transfer in turbulent regime proved to be coherent—within experimental accuracy—with the classic Gnielinski correlation for the Nusselt number. For the laminar case, an anomalous drop in Nusselt number for decreasing Reynolds number was observed in the smooth glass tubes. As the stainless steel tubes manifested relatively normal diabatic behaviour in this regime (apart from the evident influence of the thermal development region that increases heat transfer above the thermally fully developed value), the explanation of this unexpected diminution of the Nusselt number must be sought in the dispersion of heat, put in externally through the thin film deposited on the glass tube outer surface, to peripheral attachments to the test section. This distorts the measured energy balance of the experiment, especially as the convective force of the fluid diminishes, resulting in lower Nusselt numbers at lower Reynolds numbers.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider bidirectional decode-and-forward buffer-aided relay selection and transmission power allocation schemes for underlay cognitive radio relay networks. First, a low complexity delay-constrained bidirectional relaying protocol is proposed. The proposed protocol maximizes the single-hop normalized sum of the primary network (PN) and secondary network (SN) rates and controls the maximum packet delay caused by physical layer buffering at relays. Second, optimal transmission power expressions that maximize the single-hop normalized sum rate are derived for each possible transmission mode. Simulation results are provided to evaluate the performance of the proposed relaying protocol and transmission power allocation scheme and compare their performance with that of the optimal scenario. Additionally, the impacts of several system parameters including maximum buffer size, interference threshold, maximum packet delay and number of relays on the network performance are also investigated. The results reveal that the proposed bidirectional relaying protocol and antenna transmission power allocation schemes introduce a satisfactory performance with much lower complexity compared to the optimal relay selection and power allocation schemes and provide an application dependent delay-controlling mechanism. It is also found that the network performance degrades as the delay constraint is more restricted until it matches the performance of conventional unbuffered relaying with delay constraints of three. Additionally, findings show that using buffer-aided relaying significantly enhances the SN performance while slightly weakens the performance of the PN.  相似文献

Layered Steered Space–Time Codes (LSSTC) is a recently proposed multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system that combines the benefits of vertical Bell Labs space–time (VBLAST) scheme, space–time block codes (STBC) and beamforming. In this paper, we derive the error performance and capacity of a single-user LSSTC system. The analysis is general enough to any layer ordering and modulation schemes used. In addition, the derived analysis is general for any LSSTC structure in which layers may have different number of antenna arrays and may be assigned power according to any power allocation. Furthermore, we analytically investigate the tradeoff between the main parameters of the LSSTC system, i.e., diversity, multiplexing and beamforming. Our results give recursive expressions for the probability of error for LSSTC which showed nearly perfect match to the simulation results. Results have also revealed the possibility of designing an adaptive system in which it was shown that combining beamforming, STBC, and VBLAST has better performance than VBLAST at high SNR range.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the performance of a dual-hop fixed-gain amplify-and-forward relay system in the presence of co-channel interference at the destination node. Different fading scenarios for the desired user and interferers’ channels are assumed in this study. We consider the Rician/Nakagami- \(m\) , the Rician/Rician, and the Nakagami- \(m\) /Rician fading environments. In our analysis, we derive accurate approximations for the outage probability and symbol error probability (SEP) of the considered scenarios. The generic independent non-identically distributed (i.n.d.) case of interferers’ channels is considered for the Rician/Nakagami- \(m\) scenario; whereas, the independent identically distributed (i.i.d.) case is studied for the Rician/Rician and the Nakagami- \(m\) /Rician environments. Furthermore, to get more insights on the considered systems, high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) asymptotic analysis of the outage probability and SEP is derived for special cases of the considered fading scenarios. Monte-Carlo simulations and numerical examples are presented in order to validate the analytical and asymptotic results and to illustrate the effect of interference and other system parameters on the system performance. Results show that the different fading models of interferers’ channels have the same diversity order and that the interference degrades the system performance by only reducing the coding gain. Furthermore, findings show that the case where the fading parameter of the desired user first hop channel is better than that of the second hop gives better performance compared to the vise versa case, especially, at low SNR values; whereas, both cases almost behave the same at high SNR values where the performance of the system is dominated by the interference affecting the worst link. Finally, results show the big gap in system performance due to approximating the Rician fading distribution with the Nakagami- \(m\) distribution which is an indication on the inaccuracy of making such approximations in systems like the considered.  相似文献

A new union bound on the bit error probability of bit-interleaved space?time (BI-ST) coded systems is derived. Unlike existing performance analysis tools for BI-ST systems, the new bound provides a general framework for analysing the performance of BI-ST systems employing finite interleaver sizes. The derivation is based on the uniform interleaving assumption of the coded sequence prior to transmission over multiple antennas. The new bound is a function of the distance spectrum of the code, the signal constellation used and the space?time (ST) mapping scheme. The bound is derived for a general BI-ST coded system and applied to two specific examples, namely, the BI space?time coded modulation and the BI space?time block codes. Results show that the analysis provides a close approximation to the BI-ST performance for a wide range of signal-to-noise ratios. The analysis can also accurately characterise the performance differences between different interleaver sizes, which is a breakthrough in the analysis of BI-ST coded systems.  相似文献

New union bounds are derived for space-time block coded systems over Rayleigh fading channels. Both maximal ratio combining and generalised selection combining are considered as combining schemes at the receiver. The union bounds are easy to be evaluated using the transfer function of the code. Furthermore, the bounds are general to any coding scheme with a known weight distribution. Results show that the proposed union bounds are tight to simulation results for wide ranges of diversity orders and signal-to-noise ratio values.  相似文献
