E-textiles contain electrically conductive elements and electronic devices that are integrated in textile substrate. Wearable e-textiles are expected to perform like textiles in terms of breathability, conformability, and comfort despite the presence of the electrically conductive elements and electronics. E-textiles are also expected to provide reliable data and signal processing like electronic devices while they are subjected to normal wear and tear under different environmental conditions. The goal of this research was to investigate the electrical integrity of e-textiles while they are subjected to environmental conditions. Different woven samples of electronic-improved outer tactical vest with two narrow conductive traces woven in the warp direction were subjected to range of temperatures and humidity, including extreme conditions. The effects of formation parameters (e-yarn type, number of e-yarns/trace, and weldability), temperature, and humidity on the integrity of the e-textiles were studied. It was found that resistance of networks was affected by changes in air temperature and humidity and the quality of the weld had the greatest impact on electrical integrity of the conductive network. This impact was pronounced in more extreme environmental conditions, which revealed that there was a strong interaction between the weldability, temperature, and humidity.  相似文献

An active thermoplastic film made of low‐density polyethylene (LDPE) filled with oxygen scavengers made of powdered activated carbon (PAC) impregnated with sodium erythorbate (SE) was developed for packaging applications. Initial tests indicated that the impregnation of PAC with SE enhanced the heat resistance of SE, thereby allowing processing at temperatures typical of LDPE manufacturing. Subsequently, LDPE films with PAC/SE particles were manufactured in coupons that represented a typical juice package, and experiments indicated that these films absorbed 3.57 mg of oxygen in 11 days. This amount corresponded to 80% the concentration of oxygen in the headspace of the package. Furthermore, findings indicated that active particles alone have 10 times higher oxygen absorption capacity than the active LDPE film. Finally, the physical properties of the film were characterized by microscopy where oxygen scavengers showed a good dispersion within the matrix. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of pasture-based versus indoor total mixed ration (TMR) feeding systems on the chemical composition, quality characteristics, and sensory properties of full-fat Cheddar cheeses. Fifty-four multiparous and primiparous Friesian cows were divided into 3 groups (n = 18) for an entire lactation. Group 1 was housed indoors and fed a TMR diet of grass silage, maize silage, and concentrates; group 2 was maintained outdoors on perennial ryegrass only pasture (GRS); and group 3 was maintained outdoors on perennial ryegrass/white clover pasture (CLV). Full-fat Cheddar cheeses were manufactured in triplicate at pilot scale from each feeding system in September 2015 and were examined over a 270-d ripening period at 8°C. Pasture-derived feeding systems were shown to produce Cheddar cheeses yellower in color than that of TMR, which was positively correlated with increased cheese β-carotene content. Feeding system had a significant effect on the fatty acid composition of the cheeses. The nutritional composition of Cheddar cheese was improved through pasture-based feeding systems, with significantly lower thrombogenicity index scores and a greater than 2-fold increase in the concentration of vaccenic acid and the bioactive conjugated linoleic acid C18:2 cis-9,trans-11, whereas TMR-derived cheeses had significantly higher palmitic acid content. Fatty acid profiling of cheeses coupled with multivariate analysis showed clear separation of Cheddar cheeses derived from pasture-based diets (GRS or CLV) from that of a TMR system. Such alterations in the fatty acid profile resulted in pasture-derived cheeses having reduced hardness scores at room temperature. Feeding system and ripening time had a significant effect on the volatile profile of the Cheddar cheeses. Pasture-derived Cheddar cheeses had significantly higher concentrations of the hydrocarbon toluene, whereas TMR-derived cheese had significantly higher concentration of 2,3-butanediol. Ripening period resulted in significant alterations to cheese volatile profiles, with increases in acid-, alcohol-, aldehyde-, ester-, and terpene-based volatile compounds. This study has demonstrated the benefits of pasture-derived feeding systems for production of Cheddar cheeses with enhanced nutritional and rheological quality compared with a TMR feeding system.  相似文献

Recently, performance optimization on multi-core platforms has received more and more research interest especially for networking applications. While a number of case studies have been made with success, there is however a lack of analytical treatment on the modeling of parallel processing in applications. In this paper, we tackle the performance optimization problem using queueing analysis. Modeling macroscopic pipeline processes with a constrained tandem model, an optimization principle is derived. We then employ the derived principle to analyze two network applications: intrusion detection and image retrieval. Both theoretical performance analysis and simulation results confirm the effectiveness of our optimization principle.  相似文献

This paper presents the development of a vision-based neuro-fuzzy controller for a two axes gimbal system mounted on a small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The controller uses vision-based object detection as input and generates pan and tilt motion and velocity commands for the gimbal in order to keep the interest object at the center of the image frame. A readial basis function based neuro-fuzzy system and a learning algorithm is developed for the controller to address the dynamic and non-linear characteristics of the gimbal movement. The controller uses two separate, but identical radial basis function networks, one for pan and one for tilt motion of the gimbal. Each system is initialized with a fixed number of neurons that act as rules basis for the fuzzy inference system. The membership functions and rule strengths are then adjusted with the feedback from the visual tracking system. The controller is trained off-line until a desired error level is achieved. Training is then continued on-line to allow the system to accommodate air speed changes. The algorithm learns from the error computed from the detected position of the object in image frame and generates position and velocity commands for the gimbal movement. Several tests including lab tests and actual flight tests of the UAV have been carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the controller. Test results show that the controller is able to converge effectively and generate accurate position and velocity commands to keep the object at the center of the image frame.  相似文献

Effective and efficient background subtraction is important to a number of computer vision tasks. We introduce several new techniques to address key challenges for background modeling using a Gaussian mixture model (GMM) for moving objects detection in a video acquired by a static camera. The novel features of our proposed model are that it automatically learns dynamics of a scene and adapts its parameters accordingly, suppresses ghosts in the foreground mask using a SURF features matching algorithm, and introduces a new spatio-temporal filter to further refine the foreground detection results. Detection of abrupt illumination changes in the scene is dealt with by a model shifting-based scheme to reuse already learned models and spatio-temporal history of foreground blobs is used to detect and handle paused objects. The proposed model is rigorously tested and compared with several previous models and has shown significant performance improvements.  相似文献

Chromium is an essential engineering metal used in stainless and alloy steels, chemicals, and refractory products. Using material flow analysis, all major anthropogenic chromium flows are characterized for the year 2000, from mining through discard, on three spatial levels: fifty-four countries, nine world regions, and the planet. Included is the first detailed quantification of chromium in internationally traded finished products and diverse waste streams. Findings include (1) 78% of chromium flow entering final use is added as a net addition to stock on the global level; most countries are close to this figure; (2) the majority of mining occurs in Africa (2400 Gg Cr/yr) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (1090 Gg Cr/yr), while the major end-users are Asia, Europe, and North America at 1150, 1140, and 751 Gg Cr/yr, respectively; (3) waste flows of chromium are the greatest in Europe (420 Gg Cr/yr), Asia (370 Gg Cr/yr), and North America (290 Gg Cr/yr), but the composition of these waste flows varies greatly among the world regions; (4) releases of chromium by the global system, which total 2630 Gg Cr/yr, are nearly evenly divided among tailings, ferrochromium slag, downgraded scrap, and post-consumer losses; (5) many countries have a heavy foreign dependence on chromium in the all forms, as is demonstrated for the United States. The findings relating to in-use stock changes and finished product trade are relevant to industry, allowing for more accurate planning for future scrap availability. The quantification of releases due to discards and dissipation hold environmental and human health relevance, while the full life cycle international trade assessment addresses local scarcity.  相似文献
