The cytotoxicity of monticellite based bioactive ceramic powder, which was synthesized from boron derivative waste has been determined by in vitro assays of MTT, NRU, and JC-1 staining. The toxicity of powder on different mammalian cell lines (3T3-L1, HUVEC, CRL-2120) was evaluated at the concentrations of 10, 100, 200, 400 and 800?µg/mL to justify its potential for biomedical applications. The obtained results showed that monticellite based bioactive ceramic powder possesses not only bioactive feature but also biocompatible characteristic at the concentration range of 10–200?µg/mL. Hence, monticellite based bioactive ceramics have high potential as a bone graft substitute for bone void filling and coating applications.  相似文献

In-stent restenosis is a common complication after stent surgery which leads to a dangerous wall narrowing of a blood vessel. Laser assisted patterning is one of the effective methods to modify the stent surface to control cell–surface interactions which play a major role in the restenosis. In this current study, 316LS stainless steel substrates are structured by focusing a femtosecond laser beam down to a spot size of 50 μm. By altering the laser induced spot density three distinct surfaces (low density (LD), medium density (MD) and high density (HD)) were prepared. While such surfaces are composed of primary microstructures, due to fast melting and re-solidification by ultra-short laser pulses, nanofeatures are also observed as secondary structures. Following a detailed surface characterization (chemical and physical properties of the surface), we used a well-established co-culture assay of human microvascular endothelial cells and human fibroblasts to check the cell compatibility of the prepared surfaces. The surfaces were analyzed in terms of cell adherence, proliferation, cell morphology and the differentiation of the fibroblast into the myofibroblast, which is a process indicating a general fibrotic shift within a certain tissue. It is observed that myofibroblast proliferation decreases significantly on laser treated samples in comparison to non-treated ones. On the other hand endothelial cell proliferation is not affected by the surface topography which is composed of micro- and nanostructures. Such surfaces may be used to modify stent surfaces for prevention or at least reduction of restenosis.  相似文献

In the present study, 17 wt % TiN reinforced α-β SiAlON composites were sintered at low temperature by susceptor-assisted microwave heating. The effect of TiN addition on dielectrical properties of starting powders, as well as the influence of sintering temperature on phase evolution, microstructure development and mechanical properties of α/β-SiAlON-TiN composites were investigated. The obtained results showed that TiN addition increased the microwave absorbing properties which is reflected in the peak sintering temperature. Thus, the α:β ratio decreased and mechanical properties were improved, especially the fracture toughness of the composites. Furthermore, an estimate of energy consumption during microwave assisted sintering at the laboratory scale is presented. As a result, the highest values for relative density (97.1%), Vickers hardness (13.35 ± 0.47 GPa), and fracture toughness (7.52 ± 0.54 MPa m1/2) were obtained by microwave sintering for 30 min at 1300 °C.  相似文献

In this paper, a solver for poroelasticity problems related to osteoporotic human bones is discussed. Osteoporosis is a major health problem that compromises the integrity of bones. A good understanding of the disease requires an accurate simulation of the physics. For that purpose, a finite element solver based on Biot’s consolidation equations has been developed. A mixed formulation is used to discretize the geometries taken from medical imaging. The resulting indefinite linear systems are solved by Krylov space methods supplemented by variants of Schur complement-based block preconditioners.  相似文献

The rapid growth in the mobile application market presents a significant challenge to find interesting and relevant applications for users. An experimental study was conducted through the use of a specifically designed mobile application, on users’ mobile phones. The goals were; first, to learn about the users’ personality and the applications they downloaded to their mobile phones, second to recommend applications to users via notifications through the use of experimental mobile application and learn about user behavior in mobile environment. The question of how the personality features of users affect their compliance to recommendations is explored in this study. It is found that conscientiousness is positively related with accepting recommended applications and being agreeable is related with the preference for the applications of editor’s choice. Furthermore, in this study, applications owned by the user and the composition of applications under categories and their relation with personality features are explored. It is shown that the number of user owned applications and their category differ according to gender and personality. Having similar applications and the number of applications owned under specific categories increase the probability of accepting recommended applications.  相似文献

2,4,6-Trichloro-1,3,5-triazine (cyanuric chloride, C3N3Cl3, 1) was used as the starting material. 2-(4-Carboxyphenylamino)-4,6-dichloro-1,3,5-triazine (2) was obtained from the reaction of cyanuric chloride with 4-aminobenzoic acid in the presence of sodium bicarbonate in acetone. A mononuclear complex (4) was obtained by reacting 2 and [FeSalen]2O (3). A series of polymeric compounds was obtained by reacting 4 with a series of diamines. The polymeric complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, AAS, FT-IR, 1H NMR, TGA and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The complexes are low-spin, distorted octahedral Fe(III) species that are bridged by carboxylic acids. The [FeSalen]-containing compounds may have the electronic structure t2g5eg0. All the complexes have six coordination and are polymeric.  相似文献

The present study is focused on the production of light weight silicate based macroporous filler for hardened gypsum and its effect on the product properties. Highly porous, durable foam like silica granules were produced from the relatively low cost material of silica gel desiccant. Swelling behaviour and mineralogical structure of the granules after swelling were examined. Different sample series were produced by replacing gypsum by expanded silica gel. Physical properties of the hardened gypsum were improved by the addition of expanded silica gel granules. Thermal conductivity of the gypsum decreased significantly when the expanded silica gel granules introduced into the gypsum. Expanded silica gel addition also improved the high temperature durability of gypsum. Much better integrity was observed after the testing of samples at 700 °C when compared to control series.  相似文献

In this study, a novel azocalix[4]arene derivative, 5,11,17-tris[(1-naphtyl)azo]-25,26,27,28-tetrahydroxy-calix[4]arene (NAC4) bearing napthyl groups on the upper rim was synthesized. Its complexation behavior for alkali, alkaline-earth and various heavy metal ions (Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+, Cs+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+, Ba2+, Pb2+, Hg2+, Ni2+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Co2+, Fe2+, Cr3+, Ag+) was investigated by spectroscopic and voltammetric methods. This chemosensor exhibits decreased absorbance in the presence of Hg2+ and a unique absorbance quenching effect only for Cr3+. In addition, a new absorption band centered at 565 nm with the formation of the 1:1 host–guest complex (Cr3+-NAC4) was observed in the case of Cr3+, leading to an obvious color change from light orange to dark lilac. In voltammetric experiments, Cr3+ ions decreased voltammetric peaks of NAC4, whereas no significant changes occurred in the presence of the other metal ions. The Benesi–Hildebrand method was used to determine a logarithmic value of 3.76 for the association constant of the complex between Cr3+ and NAC4.  相似文献
