Simultaneous removal of carbon and nutrients from a synthetic wastewater in aerobic/anoxic sequence batch reactor (SBR) was investigated. The experiments were conducted based on a central composite design (CCD) and analyzed using response surface methodology (RSM). Two significant independent variables, cycle time and aeration time, were studied to analyze the process. Five dependent parameters—total COD (TCOD) removal, total nitrogen removal, total phosphorus removal, total Kjeldahl nitrogen removal and effluent nitrate concentration—were monitored as the process responses. The region of exploration for the process was taken as the area enclosed by cycle times (2, 4.25 and 6.5 h) and aeration times (30, 40 and 50 min/h) boundaries. The maximum COD (87.18%) and TKN (78.94%) removal efficiencies were obtained at the cycle time and aeration time of 6.5 h and 50 min/h, respectively. While the maximum TN (71.15%) and phosphorus (68.91%) removal efficiencies were obtained at cycle time of 6.5 h and aeration time of 40min/h. As a result, high cycle time (6.5 h) and moderate aeration time (40min/h) were found to be the optimal region for maximum carbon and nitrogen removal efficiencies.  相似文献

In this work, nanocrystalline P25 TiO2 films with different thicknesses were deposited on FTO coated glass substrates by an electrophoretic deposition technique (EPD) and applied as the work electrode for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) using cis-bis(isothiocyanato)(2,2'-bipyridyl-4,4'-dicarboxylato)(4,4'di-nonyl-2'-bipyridyl) ruthenium(II) (Z907, Dyesol) as sensitizing dye.The results showed that the increasing the thickness of TiO2 films lead to increase the adsorption of the dye on the TiO2 layers which in turns improved the short-circuit photocurrent (Jsc) and open-circuit voltage (Voc), respectively. Furthermore, it was found that the effects of the surface states on the recombination of the photo-injected electrons (electron–hole pairs) in the TiO2 films strongly depend on theTiO2 electrode annealing temperature. Finally, a DSSC with a 32.82 μm thickness for TiO2 film annealed at 600°C produced the highest conversion efficiency with an incident solar energy of 100 mW/cm2 (η = 8.23%, Jsc = 15.98, Voc = 0.73, FF = 0.7).  相似文献

Digital media has been increasing very rapidly, resulting in cloud computing’s popularity gain. Cloud computing provides ease of management of large amount of data and resources. With a lot of devices communicating over the Internet and with the rapidly increasing user demands, solitary clouds have to communicate to other clouds to fulfill the demands and discover services elsewhere. This scenario is called inter-cloud computing or cloud federation. Inter-cloud computing still lacks standard architecture. Prior works discuss some of the architectural blue-prints, but none of them highlight the key issues involved and their impact, so that a valid and reliable architecture could be envisioned. In this paper, we discuss the importance of inter-cloud computing and present in detail its architectural components. Inter-cloud computing also involves some issues. We discuss key issues as well and present impact of storage heterogeneity. We have evaluated some of the most noteworthy cloud storage services, namely: Dropbox, Amazon CloudDrive, GoogleDrive, Microsoft OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive), Box, and SugarSync in terms of Quality of Experience (QoE), Quality of Service (QoS), and storage space efficiency. Discussion on the results shows the acceptability level of these storage services and the shortcomings in their design.  相似文献

Extraction of ferulic acid from sugar beet pulp was carried out using three extraction solvents, sodium hydroxide (0.5, 1, 2 M), methanol and their mixture (alkaline methanolic solvent). The Ferulic acid extracted by each solvent was identified and quantified by HPLC method and the effects of solvent type, concentration and reaction time on ferulic acid solubilisation were assessed. There were differences in the contents of products extracted in the experiment conditions. The minimum amount of ferulic acid was obtained from methanolic extract while the highest concentrations (957.4 mg/L ferulic acid) were obtained employing the highest NaOH concentration (2 M), and reaction time (12 h), so phenolic compounds are better released with alkaline hydrolysis than in methanol conditions. Finally a simple procedure for the purification of ferulic acid from the alkaline extracts is presented and evaluated by FT-IR spectrum.  相似文献

A simple procedure was developed for the preparation of glassy carbon electrodes modified with single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multilayers of SiΜο12Ο404−-[Ru(bpy)(tpy)Cl]+(byp; bipyridine, tpy; terpyridine). Layer-by-layer deposition technique was used for the multilayer formation of SiΜο12Ο404−-[Ru(bpy)(tpy)Cl]+ onto SWCNTs films. Based on the strong electrostatic attraction of oppositely charged species a Ru-complex/poly oxometalate hybrid film strongly and irreversibly adsorbed on the glassy carbon electrode modified with single walled carbon nanotubes. The multilayer assembly exhibited good stability and excellent electrochemical reversibility for both redox systems in the pH range1-7. It was found that up to fifteen monolayers could be deposited onto a carbon nanotube film with well defined redox behavior. The modified electrode shows excellent electrocatalytic activity towards sulfite oxidation. Due to synergistic effect between SWCNTs and oppositely charged species the repeated alternate adsorption of anions and cations by this simple dipping method leads to molecular sandwiches with interesting redox activity and remarkable stability.  相似文献

In this article, permeation models for nanocomposite polymeric membranes (NCPMs) filled with nonporous particles are discussed and two new models for prediction of effective permeability of NCPMs are proposed. To derive these models, the presence of interfacial layer at the surface of the nanofiller particles as well as the impact of two important phenomena namely creating void volumes and increasing free volume at the interface layer are taken into account. The capability of the models for prediction of reliable results is checked against available experimental data on permeability of NCPMs and is also compared with other presented models for such membranes. The new proposed models show profound superiority over the well known models such as “Bruggeman model in limit” which offers fairly good prediction for NCPMs.  相似文献

Ag–TiO2 nanocatalyst, supported on multi-walled carbon nanotubes, was synthesized successfully via a modified sol–gel method, and the prepared photocatalyst was used to remediate aqueous thiophene environmentally by photocatalytic oxidation under visible light. The prepared Ag–TiO2/multi-walled carbon nanotubes nanocomposite photocatalyst was characterized through X-ray diffraction, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), transmission electron microscopy, and UV–vis spectra (UV–vis). The results showed that both Ag and TiO2 nanoparticles were well-dispersed over the MWCNTs and formed a uniform nanocomposite. Ag doping can eliminate the recombination of electron–hole pairs in the catalyst, and the presence of MWCNTs in the TiO2 composite can change surface properties to achieve sensitivity to visible light. The optimum mass ratio of MWCNT:TiO2:Ag was 0.02:1.0:0.05, which resulted in the photocatalyst's experimental performance in oxidizing about 100% of the thiophene in a 600 mg/L solution within 30 min and with 1.4 g L−1 amount of catalyst used.  相似文献
