Visco-elastic and dielectric spectra of multiwalled carbon-nanotube reinforced silicon elastomer nanocomposites were used to study relaxation behavior. SEM photomicrographs shows well dispersion of MWCNT in elastomer matrix. In visco-elastic analysis primary relaxation was studied as a function of temperature (?100 to 100 °C) at frequency 1Hz and strain 1 %. The effect of MWCNT loadings on storage modulus, loss modulus, and loss tangent has been studied. The non-linearity in loss tangent, storage modulus and loss modulus was explained on the basis of MWCNT-elastomer interaction and the inter-aggregate attraction of MWCNT. The secondary β relaxation was studied using dielectric relaxation spectra in the frequency range of 0.1 Hz to 106 Hz. The effect of MWCNT loadings on the complex and real parts of impedance was distinctly visible which has been explained on the basis of interfacial polarization of fillers in a heterogeneous medium and relaxation dynamics of polymer chains in the vicinity of fillers. The dielectric formalism has been utilized to further investigate the conductivity and relaxation phenomenon. The ‘percolation limit’ of the MWCNT in the silicon elastomer was found to be in the range of 4 phr loading.  相似文献

Fire resistance of wood treated with a cationic silica sol   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Wood was treated with the cationic silica sol (CSS) Levasil 200S and dried at various temperatures (room temperature, 40, 60, 80 and 103 °C). A water leaching test revealed fixation of the silica in wood even after drying at room temperature. Maximum cross sectional swelling of the specimens decreased from 15.6 % (untreated control) to 13.0 %, when treated wood was dried at 103 °C; cell wall bulking values were also negative (?2.3 %), indicating a thermal degradation of the cell wall polymers catalyzed by the CSS. Penetration of the CSS into the cell wall did not occur. A simple flammability test revealed increased fire resistance of the treated wood. Mass loss and velocity of mass loss as well as burning time were reduced; glowing of the formed charcoal was completely prevented. The effectiveness increased with increasing weight percent gain of the CSS in the wood. Thermo gravimetric analysis under nitrogen atmosphere displayed only minor reduction in the initial temperature of thermal decomposition for wood treated with CSS as compared to the control. In the presence of oxygen the resulting charcoal showed comparable thermal behaviour to the control. The yield of charcoal after pyrolysis was increased to a minor extent (from 19.9 to 23.0 %), indicating that the release of combustible gases was hardly reduced. The mode of action of enhanced fire resistance due to CSS-treatment is discussed.  相似文献

Material investigations in architecture often exclude practice implications by narrowly determining the scope and limitations of research. Such limitations are necessary and warranted for open-ended inquiries undertaken in controlled conditions. Working with commercial outfits in the context of a prescribed project, on the other hand, requires a clear attitude that accounts for the agency of the manufacturer. A small design-build intervention, completed with an in-kind donation from a terra cotta manufacturer in Buffalo, New York, gave us the opportunity to take on such a collaborative investigation. In order to explore the potentials of terra cotta as a building material to the greatest extent, we strategically increased the complexity of the endeavor, challenging the design and manufacturing team to address production problems in a timely manner to meet the project goals. In doing this, we relied on conceptual constructs that address specific material and institutional histories of terra cotta and the cultural context, registered as form, color, and ornamentation in the project. The paper gives a detailed account of the entire process and the working assumptions by bridging the design and manufacturing decisions in an interrelated manner.  相似文献

Die Elektronenstrahlmikroanalyse ferromagnetischer Werkstoffe kann durch magnetische Streufelder, die infolge einer ungenügenden Abschirmung der elektromagnetischen Linsen auftreten, stark verfälscht werden. Es kommt zu Strahlauswanderungen, die, in Abhängigkeit vom Meßort auf der Probe, im Bereich von 100 μm liegen können. In einem Ringversuch des Arbeitskreises Elektronenstrahl-Mikroanalyse des VDEh wurden mit einer definierten Stahlprobe die Geräte der 13 beteiligten Labore auf magnetische Streufelder hin untersucht.  相似文献

Nanometer‐thick active metasurfaces (MSs) based on phase‐change materials (PCMs) enable compact photonic components, offering adjustable functionalities for the manipulation of light, such as polarization filtering, lensing, and beam steering. Commonly, they feature multiple operation states by switching the whole PCM fully between two states of drastically different optical properties. Intermediate states of the PCM are also exploited to obtain gradual resonance shifts, which are usually uniform over the whole MS and described by effective medium response. For programmable MSs, however, the ability to selectively address and switch the PCM in individual meta‐atoms is required. Here, simultaneous control of size, position, and crystallization depth of the switched phase‐change material (PCM) volume within each meta‐atom in a proof‐of‐principle MS consisting of a PCM‐covered Al–nanorod antenna array is demonstrated. By modifying optical properties locally, amplitude and light phase can be programmed at the meta‐atom scale. As this goes beyond previous effective medium concepts, it will enable small adaptive corrections to external aberrations and fabrication errors or multiple complex functionalities programmable on the same MS.  相似文献

Controlling crystallization kinetics is key to overcome the temperature–time dilemma in phase change materials employed for data storage. While the amorphous phase must be preserved for more than 10 years at slightly above room temperature to ensure data integrity, it has to crystallize on a timescale of several nanoseconds following a moderate temperature increase to near 2/3 Tm to compete with other memory devices such as dynamic random access memory (DRAM). Here, a calorimetric demonstration that this striking variation in kinetics involves crystallization occurring either from the glassy or from the undercooled liquid state is provided. Measurements of crystallization kinetics of Ge2Sb2Te5 with heating rates spanning over six orders of magnitude reveal a fourfold decrease in Kissinger activation energy for crystallization upon the glass transition. This enables rapid crystallization above the glass transition temperature Tg. Moreover, highly unusual for glass‐forming systems, crystallization at conventional heating rates is observed more than 50 °C below Tg, where the atomic mobility should be vanishingly small.  相似文献

Traffic characterization is an important means for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to adapt and to optimize their networks to the requirements of the customers. Most network measurements are performed in the backbone of these ISPs, showing both, residential and business Internet traffic. However, the traffic characteristics of business and home users differ significantly. Therefore, we have performed measurements of home users at a broadband wireless access service provider in order to reflect only home user traffic characteristics. In this paper, we present the results of these measurements, showing daily traffic fluctuations, flow statistics as well as application distributions. The results show a difference to backbone traffic characteristics. Furthermore, we observed a shift from web and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) file sharing traffic to streaming applications.  相似文献

A simple approach was applied to probe into the situation of interfacial adhesion in the compatibilized ternary polymer blends with core/shell morphology. The performance of compatibilization was discussed in terms of thermal, rheological, and mechanical properties analyses for blends prepared through different mixing strategies for which maleic anhydride‐grafted high‐density polyethylene (HDPE‐g‐MAH) could be localized at the interface of HDPE/poly(ethylene‐co‐vinyl alcohol) copolymer (EVOH) or HDPE/polyamide 6 (PA‐6) in their ternary blends. Two mixing strategies, one simultaneously (one‐step or selective) and two sequentially (two‐step or dictated), were performed, compared, and discussed. It was found that mixing policy (dictated or selective) significantly changes the interfacial adhesion, as signaled by variations in rheological and thermal properties. In the case of mechanical properties, facilitation of stress transfer across the matrix/shell/core interfaces was detected by calculation of semi‐experimental models' coefficients. It was found that one‐step mixing or selective localization of HDPE‐g‐MAH helps in accumulation of more compatibilizer molecules at the interface HDPE/EVOH or EVOH/PA‐6. By contrast, addition of compatibilizer to minor phase (masterbatch of EVOH and PA‐6) or to HDPE matrix alone in case of two‐step blending causes imperfect stress transfer. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
