Removal/preconcentration of thallium(I) ions from aqueous solution by sawdust; a waste material derived from the commercial processing of Cedrus Deodar wood for furniture production was investigated. A simple and low-cost modification results in increasing the sorption capacity of raw sawdust from 2.71 to 13.18 mg g−1. Sorption was found to be rapid (98% within 8 min). The binding of metal ions was found to be pH dependent, optimal sorption accruing at around pH 6–9. Potentiometeric titrations of sawdust revealed two distinct pKa values, the first having the value similar to carboxylic groups (3.3–4.8) and second comparable with that of amines (8.53–10.2) with the surface site densities of 1.99 × 10−4 and 7.94 × 10−5 mol g−1, respectively. Retained Tl(I) ions were eluted with 5 ml 0.1 mol l−1 HCl. Detection limit of 0.0125 μg ml−1 was achieved with an enrichment factor of 160. Recovery was quantitative using sample volume of 800 ml. The Langmuir, Freundlich and D–R isotherm equations were used to describe partitioning behavior for the system at different temperatures. Kinetic and thermodynamic behavior of sawdust for Tl(I) ions removal was also studied.  相似文献

In this paper, we present general formulae for the mask of (2b + 4)-point n-ary approximating as well as interpolating subdivision schemes for any integers ${b\,\geqslant\,0}$ and ${n\,\geqslant\,2}$ . These formulae corresponding to the mask not only generalize and unify several well-known schemes but also provide the mask of higher arity schemes. Moreover, the 4-point and 6-point a-ary schemes introduced by Lian [Appl Appl Math Int J 3(1):18–29, 2008] are special cases of our general formulae.  相似文献

Oxygen-redox-based-layered cathode materials are of great importance in realizing high-energy-density sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) that can satisfy the demands of next-generation energy storage technologies. However, Mn-based-layered materials (P2-type Na-poor Nay[AxMn1−x]O2, where A = alkali ions) still suffer from poor reversibility during oxygen-redox reactions and low conductivity. In this work, the dual Li and Co replacement is investigated in P2-type-layered NaxMnO2. Experimentally and theoretically, it is demonstrated that the efficacy of the dual Li and Co replacement in Na0.6[Li0.15Co0.15Mn0.7]O2 is that it improves the structural and cycling stability despite the reversible Li migration from the transition metal layer during de-/sodiation. Operando X-ray diffraction and ex situ neutron diffraction analysis prove that the material maintains a P2-type structure during the entire range of Na+ extraction and insertion with a small volume change of ≈4.3%. In Na0.6[Li0.15Co0.15Mn0.7]O2, the reversible electrochemical activity of Co3+/Co4+, Mn3+/Mn4+, and O2-/(O2)n- redox is identified as a reliable mechanism for the remarkable stable electrochemical performance. From a broader perspective, this study highlights a possible design roadmap for developing cathode materials with optimized cationic and anionic activities and excellent structural stabilities for SIBs.  相似文献

Retained Cd(II) ions were eluted with 5 ml of 0.1 mol l(-1) HCl. Detection limit of 0.016 microg ml(-1) was achieved with enrichment factors of 120. Recovery was quantitative using sample volume of 600 ml. The Langmuir and D-R isotherm equations were used to describe partitioning behavior for the system at different temperatures. The research work was arranged to check the role of AgNPs and silver ions on callus cells of sugarcane (Saccharum spp. cv CP‐77,400). AgNPs were synthesized chemically and characterized by UV‐Vis spectra, XRD and SEM. AgNPs and silver ions were applied in various concentrations (0, 20, 40, 60 ppm) to sugarcane calli and the induced stress was characterized by studying various morphological and biochemical parameters. AgNPs and silver ions treatments produced high levels of malondialdehyde, proline, proteins, TP and TF contents. Similarly, CAT, SOD and POX activity was also significant in both treatments. The lower concentration of AgNPs and silver ions (20 ppm) provided maximum intracellular GSH level. This work mainly showed effects of AgNPs and silver ions on sugarcane calli in terms of morphological aberrations and cell membrane damage due to severe oxidative stress and production of enhanced levels of enzymatic and non‐enzymatic antioxidants as self‐defence to tolerate oxidative stress by scavenging reactive oxygen species. These preliminary findings will provide the way to study ecotoxicity mechanism of the metal ions and NPs in medicine industry and in vitro toxicity research. While niobium can significantly improve the yield strength of microalloyed steels, such additions frequently result in low toughness and heat-affected-zone embrittlement. A direct correlation between fracture surface appearance, fracture profile, microstructure and precipitation behavior may be used to explain differences in toughness as a function of niobium content in steels containing 0.03, 0.06 and 0.21 wt.% niobium.  相似文献

The present work explores sorption behavior of calix[4]arene based silica resin to remove α and β endosulfan isomers from aqueous solution. The efficiency of resin was checked through both batch and column sorption methods. In both methods, the sorption parameters, i.e. pH, equilibrium time, shaking speed and sorbent dosage were optimized as 2, 60 min, 125 rpm and 50 mg, respectively. Freundlich and Langmuir sorption isotherm models were applied to validate the sorption process. The data obtained in both models reveal that the sorption is favorable. Column sorption data were analyzed through Thomas model to calculate kinetic coefficient k(TH) and maximum sorption capacity q(o) of the resin, which were found to be 6.18 and 5.83 cm(3) mg(-1) min(-1) as well as 1.11 and 1.08 mg g(-1) for α and β endosulfan, respectively. Kinetics of sorption shows that it follows pseudo second order rate equation. The optimized method has also been applied to real water samples and the results show that calix[4]arene based silica resin is an effective sorbent to remove endosulfan from waste waters.  相似文献

Recently, the inductive coupling link is the most robust method for powering implanted biomedical devices, such as micro-system stimulators, cochlear implants, and retinal implants. This research provides a novel theoretical and mathematical analysis to optimize the inductive coupling link efficiency driven by efficient proposed class-E power amplifiers using high and optimum input impedance. The design of the coupling link is based on two pairs of aligned, single-layer, planar spiral circular coils with a proposed geometric dimension, operating at a resonant frequency of 13.56 MHz. Both transmitter and receiver coils are small in size. Implanted device resistance varies from 200 Ω to 500 Ω with 50 Ω of stepes. When the conventional load resistance of power amplifiers is 50 Ω, the efficiency is 45%; when the optimum resonant load is 41.89 Ω with a coupling coefficient of 0.087, the efficiency increases to 49%. The efficiency optimization is reached by calculating the matching network for the external LC tank of the transmitter coil. The proposed design may be suitable for active implantable devices.  相似文献
