Temperature dependence of index of refraction of polymericwaveguides

The temperature dependence of refractive index of polymer films was determined for a number of slab waveguides by a grating coupling method. This dependence was examined as a function of parameters such as molecular weight and glass transition temperature of the polymer. Temperature-induced changes in N_TE-N_TM , N being the effective index, were studied systematically for different slab waveguide compositions. It is shown that with proper device design and choice of polymeric materials, thermal effects can be reduced     

Novel two-arm microwave transmission line for high-speedelectro-optic polymer modulators

The authors demonstrate the use of a novel microwave design for high-speed electro-optic polymer modulators. A two-arm Mach-Zehnder-like transmission line may be used to reduce V_π in a push-pull modulator without problems of dielectric breakdown or crosstalk during poling     

Oblique Raman and polariton scattering in lithium iodate

We have predicted and measured tuning of the LO and TO oblique Raman and the oblique polarition frequencies in the 769-848 cm^-1spectral region in lithium iodate. Oblique scattering in LiIO3is produced by coupling ofAandEsymmetry crystal modes. The resulting LO and TO frequencies lie between the frequencies of the contributing modes. The intensity of the scattered light observed indicates that construction of CW or quasi-CW stimulated oblique Raman and polariton oscillators are possible.
