The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has created a great demand for a better understanding of the spread of viruses in indoor environments. A novel measurement system consisting of one portable aerosol-emitting mannequin (emitter) and a number of portable aerosol-absorbing mannequins (recipients) was developed that can measure the spread of aerosols and droplets that potentially contain infectious viruses. The emission of the virus from a human is simulated by using tracer particles solved in water. The recipients inhale the aerosols and droplets and quantify the level of solved tracer particles in their artificial lungs simultaneously over time. The mobile system can be arranged in a large variety of spreading scenarios in indoor environments and allows for quantification of the infection probability due to airborne virus spreading. This study shows the accuracy of the new measurement system and its ability to compare aerosol reduction measures such as regular ventilation or the use of a room air purifier.  相似文献

Microorganisms play a vital role in understanding the ecological system. The motions of micororganisms are self‐propelled while the impact of thermophoresis and Brownian motion property of nanoparticle shows more challenges in biotechnological and medical applications. The present problem is based on the understanding of double‐dispensed bioconvection for a Casson nanofluid flow over a stretching sheet. Suction phenomenon is introduced at the surface of the stretching sheet along with the convective boundary condition. The convection and movement of the microorganisms are assisted by an applied magnetic field, nonlinear thermal radiation, and first‐order chemical reaction. The governing equations are highly coupled and thus we used the spectral quasilinearization method to solve the governing equations. The study of the residual errors on the systemic parameters had given a confidence with the present results. The final outcomes are displayed through graphs and tables. The thermal dispersion coefficient shows a positive response in the temperature while a similar response is observed for the concentration with solutal dispersion coefficient. The response is reversible for the heat transfer rate at the surface with thermal dispersion coefficient. The density of the motile microorganism at the surface decreases with increase in the Casson number, thermal dispersion coefficient, and solute dispersion coefficient, while an opposite phenomenon was observed with increase in the density ratio of the motile microorganism.  相似文献

Hyperproperties, such as non-interference and observational determinism, relate multiple computation traces with each other and are thus not monitorable by tools that consider computations in isolation. We present the monitoring approach implemented in the latest version of \(\text {RVHyper}\), a runtime verification tool for hyperproperties. The input to the tool are specifications given in the temporal logic \(\text {HyperLTL}\), which extends linear-time temporal logic (LTL) with trace quantifiers and trace variables. \(\text {RVHyper}\) processes execution traces sequentially until a violation of the specification is detected. In this case, a counterexample, in the form of a set of traces, is returned. \(\text {RVHyper}\) employs a range of optimizations: a preprocessing analysis of the specification and a procedure that minimizes the traces that need to be stored during the monitoring process. In this article, we introduce a novel trace storage technique that arranges the traces in a tree-like structure to exploit partially equal traces. We evaluate \(\text {RVHyper}\) on existing benchmarks on secure information flow control, error correcting codes, and symmetry in hardware designs. As an example application outside of security, we show how \(\text {RVHyper}\) can be used to detect spurious dependencies in hardware designs.

Lipoxygenases (LOXs) (EC 1.13.11.12) catalyze the oxygenation of fatty acids and produce oxylipins, including the plant hormone jasmonic acid (JA) and its methyl ester, methyl jasmonate (MeJA). Little information is available about the LOX gene family in aquatic plants. We identified a novel LOX gene family comprising nine LOX genes in the aquatic plant Spirodela polyrhiza (greater duckweed). The reduced anatomy of S. polyrhiza did not lead to a reduction in LOX family genes. The 13-LOX subfamily, with seven genes, predominates, while the 9-LOX subfamily is reduced to two genes, an opposite trend from known LOX families of other plant species. As the 13-LOX subfamily is associated with the synthesis of JA/MeJA, its predominance in the Spirodela genome raises the possibility of a higher requirement for the hormone in the aquatic plant. JA-/MeJA-based feedback regulation during culture aging as well as the induction of LOX gene family members within 6 h of salt exposure are demonstrated.  相似文献

Injuries to the hollow organs of the lower digestive system carry substantial risk of complication due to infection and blood loss, and commonly require invasive abdominal surgery to diagnose and treat. The causes of, and risk factors for, lower abdomen injury in automobile collisions are poorly understood. Aspects of transnationalism and identity in the period from the 1860s to the mid 1920s, which set in motion a form of globalization related to empire, are focused upon. The notion of 'regimes of representation' is adapted as a broad conceptual framework for exploring the role of colonial directories in establishing the identity of metropolitan commercial culture in Wellington, New Zealand. This outpost of empire is examined through a detailed analysis of the images presented in a series of directories by Kelly's and Wise. These reveal how British commerce established a strong and lasting identity in the colony through a variety of 'acts of representation'. It is concluded that colonial directories are a worthwhile but neglected source for exploring the geographies of empire.  相似文献

A survey was made of the anaerobic and facultatively anaerobic bacteria present in piggery waste, digesting piggery waste and domestic anaerobic sludge sludge used to start a piggery waste digester. An influence of the input waste was shown in that streptococci, the predominant facultatively anaerobic bacteria in the piggery waste, were the predominant bacteria in the digesting waste, and they replaced Enterobacter, predominant in the domestic sludge, when a piggery waste digestion had been established from this latter material. Cellulolytic or methanogenic bacteria could not be detected in the piggery waste but populations of these, and other hydrolytic bacteria, became established at different times during the buildup of digestion by gradual addition of piggery waste to water. The bacteria concerned in degradation of the waste constituents were all anaerobes.Production of methane from H2/CO2, formate and butyrate could be detected in mixed cultures from dilutions of digester contents, but the only methanogenic bacterium that could be isolated in pure culture was Methanobacterium formicicum, which uses H2/CO2 or formate only.  相似文献
