This study presents the design of novel hydrogel films, based on low-methoxyl (LM) pectin and NaA- or ZnA-zeolite particles, to serve as wound dressing materials with controlled drug delivery properties. We studied the effects of the preparation method of hydrogels, the amounts of crosslinker, drug and zeolite, and the type of cation in zeolites on the drug release mechanisms from the hydrogels. Ionic strengths of both film and external medium dictated the drug release behavior of the films, while the other parameters also played essential roles. NaA-zeolite hydrogels prepared using membrane diffusion controlled system, could reach a drug release ratio of 86% within 5 h. The drug-free hydrogels displayed no cytotoxicity while supporting cell proliferation and migration. Our cost-effective LM pectin–zeolite hydrogels promise to be effective wound dressing materials with controlled drug delivery ability, transparency, good swelling properties, ability to hold fluids, good oxygen transmission rate, and biocompatibility. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The structural, optical, electrical and electrical–optical properties of a double-junction GaAsP light-emitting diode (LED) structure grown on a GaP (100) substrate by using a molecular beam epitaxy technique were investigated. The pn junction layers of GaAs1?xPx and GaAs1?yPy, which form the double-junction LED structure, were grown with two different P/As ratios. High-resolution x-ray diffraction (HRXRD), photoluminescence (PL), and current–voltage (IV) measurements were used to investigate the structural, optical and electrical properties of the sample. Alloy composition values (x, y) and some crystal structure parameters were determined using HRXRD measurements. The phosphorus compositions of the first and second junctions were found to be 63.120% and 82.040%, respectively. Using PL emission peak positions at room temperature, the band gap energies (Eg) of the first and second junctions were found to be 1.867 eV and 2.098 eV, respectively. In addition, the alloy compositions were calculated by Vegard’s law using PL measurements. The turn-on voltage (Von) and series resistance (Rs) of the device were obtained from the IV measurements to be 4.548 V and 119 Ω, respectively. It was observed that the LED device emitted in the red (664.020 nm) and yellow (591.325 nm) color regions.  相似文献

Serefeddin Sabuncuo?lu (1385 to 1470?) is known to be the author of the first surgery textbook, namely Cerrahiyyet'ül Haniyye (Imperial Surgery), written in Turkish in 1465. It is the first book to contain colored illustrations of surgical procedures, incisions, and instruments in the Turkish-Islamic medical literature. He was the first man to illustrate and mention introduction of a tube into the pharynx and upper esophagus, removal of foreign bodies in the esophagus by special instruments of his own design, and use of a silver ringlet in a man after tracheotomy. He also described and illustrated reduction of sternal fractures, thoracic puncture through the intercostal space for drainage of empyema cavities, and treatment of rib fractures that have severed the diaphragm. He was a humble, curious, and intelligent surgeon, and also a calligrapher and a miniature artist.  相似文献

In this study, a series of theophylline‐loaded calcium pectin gel films were prepared in three different Ca+2 concentrations with three different methods for wound dressing applications. Drug release performance of the films were investigated in four different medium pH in order to mimic wound healing pH conditions. Hydrogel films were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Their absorbency (fluid handling), swelling behavior, dehydration rate, dispersion characteristic, dressing pH determination, water vapor permeability, oxygen permeability, surface contact angle, flexibility, Shore A hardness, mean mass per unit area and thickness were determined. The effect of the hydrogels on wound healing was evaluated with an in vitro wound healing assay. After evaluating all data, we suggested that the hydrogel film prepared with swelling method using 7% or 10% crosslinker and dried at 26 °C is more suitable for controlled drug release process. Sodium cobalt oxide (NaCo2O4) nanofibers with diameters ranging between 20 and 200?nm were prepared by electrospinning a precursor mixture of PVA/(Na–Co) acetate. This was the first time any such attempt was made. Afterwards, the electrospun nanofibers were subjected to calcination treatment. The characteristics of the fibers were investigated using a Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, a X-ray diffractometer, and a scanning electron microscopy. The boron doped and undoped NaCo2O4 nanofibers calcined at 850?°C were polycrystalline of the γ NaxCo2O4 phase having diameters ranging between 20 and 60?nm with grain sizes of 5–10?nm, and the nanofibers calcined at 800?°C were single crystals having linked particles or crystallites with particle sizes ranging between 60 and 200?nm. The results indicated a significant effect of calcination temperature on the crystalline phase and morphology of the nanofibers. It could be seen in the SEM micrograph of the fibers that when boron was added, this resulted in the formation of cross-linked bright-surfaced fibers. The average fiber diameter for boron doped and undoped fiber mats were 204 and 123?nm, respectively. The grain diameters of boron doped and undoped nanocrystalline sintered powders were measured as 140 and 118?nm, respectively.  相似文献

Serum cefuroxime concentrations were measured over a 12 h period in ten healthy adults following three iv dosing regimens: 750 mg cefuroxime, 1.5 g cefuroxime, and 750 mg cefuroxime with 1 g of probenecid given orally 3 h before the cefuroxime infusion. Probenecid prolonged the serum cefuroxime half-life by 63% (P < 0.05) with a significant increase in the mean time for which serum cefuroxime concentrations exceeded the MIC90 for common respiratory pathogens (2 mg/L) compared with either 750 mg cefuroxime (2.2 h, P < 0.05) or 1.5 g of cefuroxime (0.9 h, P < 0.05) without probenecid. The cost of the 750 mg cefuroxime dose plus probenecid is approximately half that of a 1.5 g cefuroxime dose.  相似文献

Metformin is a biguanide group oral antidiabetic drug used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and anorexia are the most common adverse effects encountered during treatment. Lactic acidosis is a serious side effect seen with metformin use, and while the incidence of lactic acidosis is similar to other oral antidiabetics, metformin is not recommended to patients with certain risk factors, such as cardiovascular, pulmonary, and renal and liver failure. We describe a chronic hemodialysis patient treated with metformin, presenting to the nephrology department with altered mental status.  相似文献
