Tore Supra (TS) has been designed to operate using technologies that allow long plasma operation (a few minutes), by means of superconducting magnets and actively-cooled high heat flux plasma facing components (PFCs). Actively cooled tungsten PFC will be used in the baffle area of the first ITER divertor. In order to validate such a technology fully (industrial manufacturing, operation with long plasma duration), the implementation of a tungsten axi-symmetric divertor in the tokamak Tore Supra has been studied [1]. With this second major upgrade, Tore Supra should be able to address the problematic of long plasma discharges with a metallic divertor.The proposed divertor is made up of two stainless steel casings containing a copper coil winding located at the top and bottom area of the vacuum vessel. These casings are firmly maintained by connection beams and protected by PFC. This paper describes the mechanical design of this major component and its integration in TS, the associated electromagnetic and thermomechanical analysis, the manufacturing issues and finally the integration of ITER representative PFCs.  相似文献

Quartz gyro rotors with a sphericity of better than one part per million are needed for the Relativity Gyroscope Experiment. This paper describes the measurement techniques that are employed to ensure that this requirement is met. The basic measurement is a surface irregularity map, generated with the help of a computer-aided roundness instrument with a measurement uncertainty approaching 2.5 nm. We report measurements of the specific heat of helium-4 confined to very uniform 8-micron diameter cylinders and to 0.26-micron diameter Anopore cylinders in the temperature region near the lambda point. The data allow improved tests of the emerging theory of finite size phenomena and cross-over to lower dimensional states. We find generally good agreement with scaling using exponents derived by renormalization methods. We also find reasonable agreement with more detailed numerical calculations of cross-over behavior with explicit inclusion of boundary conditions. However, in the region near the peak, the 8-micron data do not scale well relative to Anopore. We also compare the results with previous work on 1-dimensional systems.  相似文献

Central and peripheral serotonin (5HT) have opposing functions in the regulation of energy homeostasis. Both increasing 5HT signaling in the brain and decreasing 5HT signaling in the periphery have been proposed as potential treatments for obesity. This study investigates the relationship between constitutionally high or low 5HT activity and systemic net energy balance. Two sublines of rats with high and low whole-body 5HT tone, obtained by selective breeding for platelet 5HT parameters, were examined for fat accumulation in different white adipose tissue (WAT) depots, glucose/insulin tolerance, blood metabolic parameters, and expression of various metabolic genes. High-5HT animals, unlike their low-5HT counterparts, developed widespread intra-abdominal obesity associated with glucose and insulin intolerance, which worsened with age. They also had elevated blood glucose and lipid parameters but showed no significant changes in circulating leptin, resistin, and adipsin levels. Surprisingly, adiponectin levels were increased in plasma but reduced in the WAT of high-5HT rats. A limited number of metabolic genes belonging to different functional classes showed differential expression in WAT of high-5HT compared to low-5HT rats. Overall, a constitutive increase in 5HT tone is associated with a positive energy balance acting through subtle dysregulation of a broad spectrum of metabolic pathways.  相似文献

Rotary traveling-wave oscillators (RTWOs) represent a new transmission-line approach to gigahertz-rate clock generation. Using the inherently stable LC characteristics of on-chip VLSI interconnect, the clock distribution network becomes a low-impedance distributed oscillator. The RTWO operates by creating a rotating traveling wave within a closed-loop differential transmission line. Distributed CMOS inverters serve as both transmission-line amplifiers and latches to power the oscillation and ensure rotational lock. Load capacitance is absorbed into the transmission-line constants whereby energy is recirculated giving an adiabatic quality. Unusually for an LC oscillator, multiphase (360°) square waves are produced directly. RTWO structures are compact and can be wired together to form rotary oscillator arrays (ROAs) to distribute a phase-locked clock over a large chip. The principle is scalable to very high clock frequencies. Issues related to interconnect and field coupling dominate the design process for RTWOs. Taking precautions to avoid unwanted signal couplings, the rise and fall times of 20 ps, suggested by simulation, may be realized at low power consumption. Experimental results of the 0.25-μm CMOS test chip with 950-MHz and 3.4-GHz rings are presented, indicating 5,5-ps jitter and 34-dB power supply rejection ratio (PSRR). PURPOSE: It remains a challenge to predict which women with axillary node-negative (ANN) breast cancer at greatest risk of relapse may benefit most from adjuvant therapy. Increases in neu/erbB-2 have been implicated in breast cancer prognosis. Although overexpression has been investigated extensively, this study represents the first prospective assessment of the prognostic value of neu/erbB-2 DNA amplification in a cohort of women with newly diagnosed ANN. METHODS: A consecutive series of women was monitored for recurrence (median follow-up duration, 36 months) and tumors from 580 individuals were analyzed for amplification. The association of amplification with risk of recurrence was examined in survival analyses with traditional and histologic markers as prognostic factors. RESULTS: Neu/erbB-2 was amplified in 20% of cases. We found an increased risk of disease recurrence when neu/erbB-2 was amplified > or = twofold that persisted with adjustment for other prognostic factors (relative risk, 2.36; P = .002). We found some evidence that amplification was more important in patients who received chemotherapy compared with untreated patients. CONCLUSION: neu/erbB-2 amplification is an independent prognostic factor for risk of recurrence in ANN breast cancer. Women with tumors without neu/erbB-2 amplification have a good prognosis; aggressive therapy in this group is therefore difficult to justify. On the other hand, even with adjuvant chemotherapeutic treatment, women whose tumors exhibit neu/erbB-2 amplification have an increased risk of recurrence. We encourage a randomized trial to compare more aggressive adjuvant chemotherapy versus standard chemotherapy for ANN women whose tumors exhibit neu/erbB-2 amplification.  相似文献

Actively cooled tungsten plasma facing components will be used in the ITER divertor. In order to fully validate such a technology (industrial manufacturing, operation with long plasma duration), the implementation of a tungsten axis symmetric divertor in the tokamak Tore-Supra is studied. With this major upgrade, so called WEST (Tungsten Environment in Steady state), Tore-Supra will be the only European tokamak able to address the problematic of long plasma discharges with an actively cooled metallic divertor.To do so, it is planned to install two symmetric divertor coils inside the vacuum vessel. This assembly, called divertor structure, is made up of two stainless steel casings containing a copper winding pack cooled by hot pressurized water (200 °C, 4 MPa). These two casings are located at the top and bottom of the vacuum vessel in order to create two magnetic X-point areas, which are protected by W-PFCs (Tungsten Plasma Facing Components) in order to extract the thermal loads. The two casing are robustly maintained together by 18 brackets in order to constitute a rigid assembly attached thanks to 12 legs (one per lower vertical port) outside the Tore_Supra vacuum vessel.The paper will illustrate the technical developments performed during 2011 in order to produce a preliminary design of the Tore-Supra WEST divertor structure with a particular focus on: the mechanical design of this major component and its integration in the Tokamak, the manufacturing issues and the technical results of the feasibility studies done with industry as well as the design of a scale one coil mock up.  相似文献

A 1-Mb SRAM (static random-access memory) configurable as a 128-kb×8, 256-kb×4, or 1-Mb×1 memory featuring asynchronous operation with static-column and chip-enable-access speedup modes or synchronous operation with a fast-page (toggle) or static-column mode is described. It has been fabricated in a double-metal, double-polysilicon CMOS process with 0.7-μm geometry and special SRAM structures. The measured synchronous access of 29 ns with a fast-page mode access of 22 ns. Measured asynchronous access is 34 ns with a static-column access of 33 ns and a chip-select speedup access of 29 ns. The SRAMs six-transistor CMOS memory cell is 58.24 μm2  相似文献
