Z‐isomers of lycopene exhibit higher bioavailability and antioxidant capacity than those of the all‐E‐isomer. Therefore, it is important to develop an efficient and environmentally friendly procedure for Z‐isomerization. The current methods for Z‐isomerization of (all‐E)‐lycopene use toxic chemicals such as organic solvents and catalysts. This study is aimed to develop a chemical‐free method for Z‐isomerization of (all‐E)‐lycopene in tomato powder by hot air and superheated steam heating. The Z‐isomerization reaction is promoted by heating above the melting point of lycopene. When heated with superheated steam, the thermal decomposition of lycopene is suppressed compared to that when heated with hot air. When tomato powder is heated at 240 °C for 5 min by superheated steam, the total Z‐isomer content and remaining lycopene are 69.0% and 90.7%, respectively, while with hot air heating, the total Z‐isomer content and remaining lycopene are 69.9% and 68.0%, respectively. These results indicate that the thermal Z‐isomerization of lycopene occurs in the molten state and heating in a low oxygen atmosphere suppresses the thermal decomposition of lycopene. Practical Applications: Tomato powder rich in lycopene Z‐isomers is an important ingredient for the food and animal feed industries. Since Z‐isomers of lycopene are more soluble in solvents including ethanol which is a low‐toxicity and environmentally friendly solvent, the efficiency of lycopene extraction with ethanol can be improved by using the Z‐isomer‐rich tomato powder as a raw material. The obtained Z‐isomer‐rich extract has a high added value because the Z‐isomers have higher bioavailability and antioxidant capacity than those of the all‐E‐isomer. In addition, since lycopene Z‐isomers exhibit higher accumulation efficiency and better color improvement in hen egg yolks than those of the all‐E‐isomer, Z‐isomer‐rich tomato powder is an effective animal feed.  相似文献

The determination of the kokumi peptide, γ-glutamyl-valyl-glycine (γ-Glu-Val-Gly) in raw scallop and processed scallop products was carried out using high pressure liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). The detection of γ-Glu-Val-Gly was achieved using a multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) method. The optimised condition enabled the precise determination of γ-Glu-Val-Gly. Raw scallop contained 0.08 μg/g γ-Glu-Val-Gly, and the γ-Glu-Val-Gly levels in processed scallop products, such as dried-scallop and scallop extract, were measured to be 0.64 and 0.77 μg/g, respectively. This is the first report to confirm the existence of γ-Glu-Val-Gly in foodstuff.  相似文献

The waves on the surface of a cylindrical mercury pool subjected to a 3 kHz electromagnetic field have been observed. Oscillations were found to correspond to the known eigenfrequencies of a cylindrical liquid pool with a free surface. Which of the eigenfrequencies was dominant depended on the field strength and the relative position of the pool in the surrounding inductor. The amplitude of the oscillations was found to increase with increasing inductor current. The measurements showed fair to good agreement with the predictions of the mathematical model described in Part I. A tentative mechanism for the excitation of the eigenfrequencies by the electromagnetic field is advanced and implications for electromagnetic casting are discussed.  相似文献

The “linearizing method” is a method used to predict the stress/strain relation of fabrics under biaxial extension in the warp and weft directions. The stress/strain relation is firstly linearized by using a transformed strain such as ei = ?i n where ei is the transformed strain (i =1, 2), ?i the strain, and n a constant, and the stress Fi is then expressed by a linear equation in ei. The elastic parameters are determined by strip–biaxial–extension experiments in the warp and weft directions. This method was proposed by Kawabata in 1985 without sufficient examination of its validity. In this paper, the validity of the method is inspected by biaxial–extension experiments for various kinds of fabric. It is concluded that the linearizing method has sufficient capacity to enable the biaxial–extension behaviour of the fabric to be estimated with considerable accuracy. For the case when the stress/strain relation is linearized in two zones of strain, the double–zone linearization is presented here to improve the accuracy of prediction and to expand the validity of this method over a wider range of strains.  相似文献

Radiation degradation of cellulose fibers was investigated by gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Scoured cotton of Mexican variety (cellulose I), Polynosic rayon (cellulose II), and their microcrystalline celluloses obtained by hydrolysis of the original fibers were irradiated by Co-60 γ-rays under vacuum or humid conditions. The irradiated samples were then nitrated under nondegradative conditions. The molecular weights and molecular weight distributions were measured by GPC using tetrahydrofran as solvent. The relationship between molecular weight and elution count was obtained with cellulose trinitrate standards fractionated by preparative GPC. The degree of polymerization of the fibers decreased with increasing irradiation dose, but their microcystalline celluloses were only slightly degraded by irradiation, especially in microcrystalline cellulose from cellulose I. Degradation of the fibers irradiated under humid conditions was less than that irradiated under vacuum. It was found that the G-values for main-chain scission for the irradiated cellulose I, cellulose II, microcrystalline cellulose I, and microcrystalline cellulose II were 2.8, 2.9, less than 1, and 2.9, respectively, but the G-value for main-chain scission for the irradiated cellulose II was increased to 11.2 at irradiation doses above 3 Mrad. Consequently, it is inferred that cellulose molecules in the amorphous regions are degraded more readily, and the well-aligned molecules in crystalline regions are not as easily degraded by irradiation.  相似文献

We studied combustion modes experimentally for a lean fuel mixture of propane-air, including combustion of a quiescent mixture, combustion with annular gas swirling, and combustion stimulated by the jets of a burning gas that are injected into the combustion chamber (pulsed jet combustion — PJC). It is shown that, in providing a maximum combustion rate, the PJC mode has an obvious advantage in initiation of combustion of extremely lean fuel mixtures over other gasdynamic combustion modes. Various gasdynamic regimes of combustion of a lean fuel mixture of propane with air, including combustion of the mixture at rest, combustion with annular twisting of the gas, and combustion stimulated by jets of a burning gas injected into the combustion chamber (PJC) were analyzed from the viewpoint of the magnitude of heat losses. The advantage of PJC over other combustion regimes is shown. We suggest a simple method to evaluate the pressure increase by calculating the magnitude of the energy release with allowance for heat losses to the combustion-chamber walls. Glow-discharge-hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si : H) was found to be oxidized in the following two ways after exposing to air at room temperature; first, thin oxide films grew uniformly on the a-Si : H, slowly with increase of exposure time; secondly, oxide with a columnar morphology grew rapidly with the increase of exposure time and the cross section of the columnar oxide was small. Mechanical stress caused by the differences of the thermal expansion coefficient and the crystallographical structure between the a-Si : H and substrates was relieved with the increase in the amount of the columnar oxide.  相似文献

The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis is stimulated in response to stress. When activated, it is suppressed by the negative feedback effect of glucocorticoids. Glucocorticoids directly inhibit proopiomelanocortin (Pomc) gene expression in the pituitary. Glucocorticoid signaling is mediated via glucocorticoid receptors, 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases, and the FK506-binding immunophilins, Fkbp4 and Fkbp5. Fkbp4 and Fkbp5 differentially regulate dynein interaction and nuclear translocation of the glucocorticoid receptor, resulting in modulation of the glucocorticoid action. Here, we explored the regulation of Fkbp4 and Fkbp5 genes and their proteins with dexamethasone, a major synthetic glucocorticoid drug, in murine AtT-20 corticotroph cells. To elucidate further roles of Fkbp4 and Fkbp5, we examined their effects on Pomc mRNA levels in corticotroph cells. Dexamethasone decreased Pomc mRNA levels as well as Fkpb4 mRNA levels in mouse corticotroph cells. Dexamethasone tended to decrease Fkbp4 protein levels, while it increased Fkpb5 mRNA and its protein levels. The dexamethasone-induced decreases in Pomc mRNA levels were partially canceled by Fkbp4 knockdown. Alternatively, Pomc mRNA levels were further decreased by Fkbp5 knockdown. Thus, Fkbp4 contributes to the negative feedback of glucocorticoids, and Fkbp5 reduces the efficiency of the glucocorticoid effect on Pomc gene expression in pituitary corticotroph cells.  相似文献

A survey of pesticide residues in 595 imported frozen products on the Tokyo market from April 1989 to March 2008 was carried out. Forty three kinds of pesticides, including organophosphorus, organochlorine, carbamate, pyrethroid and others, were detected between levels of trace (below 0.01 ppm) and 4.6 ppm from 162 samples. Chlorpyrifos, cypermethrin and omethoate were frequently detected in green vegetables (komatsuna leaf and spinach), cypermethrin and methamidophos were detected in pods and seeds (green soybean and string pea), chlorpropham (CIPC) was detected in potato, and captan and carbaryl were detected in berries (blueberry, raspberry and strawberry). The hydrophilic pesticide methamidophos was detected in flesh of lychee. Residue levels of these pesticides were calculated as between less than 0.5% and 30% of their ADI values according to the daily intake of frozen products. Therefore, these frozen products should be safe when they were eaten in customary amounts.  相似文献
