SiPix利用独特的微杯(Microcup)结构和顶部灌注封装技术，通过连续整卷高速涂布的制程成功地制造出高性能的双稳性、装填电泳微粒的电子纸。SiPix可提供下列两种规格形式任意的EPD卷式成品：(A)用于有源矩阵EPD和直接驱动产品的可剥离保护膜／已灌装及密封的Microcup／无图案导体膜夹层卷；及（P）用于无源矩阵的行导体膜／已灌装及密封的Microcup／列导体膜夹层卷。已经开发出将EPD卷制成不同的显示模块或产品的简单的后续加工制程。     

A machine vision system for high speed object tracking using a moments algorithm

A system has been developed for tracking the motion of objects in two dimensions in real-time. The system consists of a conventional CCD camera linked to a transputer-based frame grabber and an array of nine transputers. A parallel moments algorithm is used to extract the co-ordinates of the object's centre of gravity and orientation at field rate, i.e. 60 Hz. Since the position data are made available in real-time—with a small time delay—the system has the potential for inclusion in a feedback loop. Results are presented for tracking the trajectory of a chocolate bar diverted by an air jet. The potential of the system for higher sampling rates—up to 200 Hz—is discussed.     

Microinjection of thyrotropin-releasing hormone analogue into the central nucleus of the amygdala stimulates gastric contractility in rats

The effect on gastric contractility following bilateral microinjection of thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) analog, RX 77368, into the central nucleus of the amygdala was examined in fasted, urethane-anesthetized rats. Extraluminal force transducers were used to measure gastric corpus contractility. Bilateral microinjection of RX 77368 (0.5 microgram, 1.0 microgram, n = 6 each) stimulated gastric contractility for up to 120 min post-injection, P < 0.05. Gastric contractility was not significantly stimulated by microinjection of 0.1 microgram RX 77368, 0.1% bovine serum albumin (BSA) into the central nucleus or RX 77368 (0.5 microgram, 1.0 microgram) into sites adjacent to the central nucleus. Peak responses (1.0 microgram) occurred 40 min post-injection and represented a 16-26-fold increase over basal values. The frequency of gastric contraction waves was attenuated for 0-90 min in rats receiving central amygdaloid microinjection of RX 77368 (0.1, 0.5 or 1.0 microgram) versus rats microinjected with the vehicle or RX 77368 into sites adjacent to the central nuclei. The stimulatory effect of RX 77368 (1.0 microgram) on gastric contractility was abolished by subdiaphragmatic vagotomy. These results indicate that the TRH analog, RX 77368, acts within the central amygdala to vagally stimulate gastric contractility.     

Modeling and simulation for hybrid electric vehicles. II. Simulation

For pt.I see ibid., vol.3, no.4, p.235-43 (2002). Hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) simulation is conducted based on the model developed for a parallel HEV built in the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UT-HEV). The HEV simulation is a parametric analysis of the power control schemes and vehicle performance. Major parameters are evaluated for the vehicle driven under the standard urban and highway driving schedules. The results indicate that current configuration of the UT-HEV NEON has superb capability for battery state of charge (SOC) recovery while meeting the velocity request of the given driving schedules. Recommendations are given from the simulation for optimal performance in light of the HEV power control, capability for SOC recovery through regeneration and regenerative braking, as well as velocity, acceleration and range performance.     

Life task appraisals, spouse involvement in strategies, and daily affect among short- and long-term married couples.

The purpose of this study was to examine predictors and consequences of spouses' involvement in each others' strategies for pursuing important personal goals called life tasks. Husbands and wives within 39 short- and long-term marriages described five life tasks and provided appraisals of whether each was shared with their spouse. Participants later completed 14 consecutive diary entries recording daily life task pursuit strategies, the extent of spouse involvement in each, and measures of positive and negative affect. Results indicated that interdependence in life task appraisals prospectively predicted greater spouse involvement, and greater spouse involvement was associated with more positive affect for that day. Life task appraisals may provide avenues for understanding couples' strategies for dealing with goals or stressors and how those strategies affect mood. Flavor Fade in Peanuts During Short-term Storage

ABSTRACT: Flavor characteristics of roasted peanuts over short-term storage were explored through sensory and chemical analyses. The volatiles from freshly roasted peanuts were evaluated over short-time (21 d) storage using gas chromatography, chemosensory techniques, and a sensory panel to quantify and identify pyrazines and hexanal over a 21-d storage period. A significant decrease ( P < 0.05) was noted in 2,3-diethylpyrazine, 2-methoxypyrazine, 2,3-dimethylpyrazine, 2-ethyl-3-methylpyrazine, and 2,3,5-trimethylpyrazine concentrations over a 21-d period. No significant difference ( P > 0.05) was noted in the 2-methylpyrazine and 2-ethylpyrazine concentrations. The hexanal concentration significantly increased ( P < 0.05) over the 21-d period. The peroxide values and sensory analysis agreed with these results. A significant increase ( P < 0.05) in peroxide value was seen at days 14 and 21, and a significant decrease ( P < 0.05) in fresh roasted peanuty flavor from day 0 to 21 and significant increases ( P < 0.05) in painty, cardboardy, and bitter flavors from day 7 to 21 with the sensory analysis. The electronic nose successfully separated day 0 and 21 samples from day 7 and 14 samples, which were also separated but with some overlap.     

Interpersonal communication in parent-adolescent dyads: A brief report on the effects of a social skills training program.

Hypothesized that social skills training could improve communications between adolescents and parents while enhancing improvement in perceived communication and problem-solving behaviors. 25 parent–adolescent dyads (all members of the Church of the Latter Day Saints) participated in a pre- and posttest experimental and control group design. The 18 experimental dyads completed a social skills program. Analyses revealed significant training effects on all social skills in the program, but perceived improvement was slightly higher for parents than for adolescents. A neuron membrane mesh representation for visualization of electrophysiological simulations

We present a process to automatically generate three-dimensional mesh representations of the complex, arborized cell membrane surface of cortical neurons (the principal information processing cells of the brain) from nonuniform morphological measurements. Starting from manually sampled morphological points (3D points and diameters) from neurons in a brain slice preparation, we construct a polygonal mesh representation that realistically represents the continuous membrane surface, closely matching the original experimental data. A mapping between the original morphological points and the newly generated mesh enables simulations of electrophysiolgical activity to be visualized on this new membrane representation. We compare the new mesh representation with the state of the art and present a series of use cases and applications of this technique to visualize simulations of single neurons and networks of multiple neurons.     

Human DDX3X Unwinds Japanese Encephalitis and Zika Viral 5′ Terminal Regions

Flavivirus genus includes many deadly viruses such as the Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) and Zika virus (ZIKV). The 5′ terminal regions (TR) of flaviviruses interact with human proteins and such interactions are critical for viral replication. One of the human proteins identified to interact with the 5′ TR of JEV is the DEAD-box helicase, DDX3X. In this study, we in vitro transcribed the 5′ TR of JEV and demonstrated its direct interaction with recombinant DDX3X (K_d of 1.66 ± 0.21 µM) using microscale thermophoresis (MST). Due to the proposed structural similarities of 5′ and 3′ TRs of flaviviruses, we investigated if the ZIKV 5′ TR could also interact with human DDX3X. Our MST studies suggested that DDX3X recognizes ZIKV 5′ TR with a K_d of 7.05 ± 0.75 µM. Next, we performed helicase assays that suggested that the binding of DDX3X leads to the unwinding of JEV and ZIKV 5′ TRs. Overall, our data indicate, for the first time, that DDX3X can directly bind and unwind in vitro transcribed flaviviral TRs. In summary, our work indicates that DDX3X could be further explored as a therapeutic target to inhibit Flaviviral replication
