A study is made on the scheme of heating a local region of a biological body by utilizing an EM field and increasing the conductivity of the local region. It was found that when the frequency of the EM field is in the range of 1 to 100 MHz, the increase of the conductivity of the local region usually causes a decrease, instead of an increase, of the absorbed power in that local region. For a microwave EM field, there may exist an optimum conductivity for the local region to gain the most effective EM heating. 相似文献
Implicit differentiation of the discretized boundary integral equations governing the conduction of heat in three dimensional (3D) solid objects, subjected to nonlinear boundary conditions, and with temperature dependent material properties, is shown to generate an accurate and economical approach for the computation of shape sensitivities. The theoretical formulation for primary response (surface temperature and normal heat flux) sensitivities and secondary response (surface tangential heat flux components and internal temperature and heat flux components) sensitivities is given. Iterative strategies are described for the solution of the resulting sets of nonlinear equations and computational performances examined. Multi-zone analysis and zone condensation strategies are demonstrated to provide substantial computational economies in this process for models with either localized nonlinear boundary conditions or regions of geometric insensitivity to design variables. A series of nonlinear sensitivity example problems are presented that have closed form solutions. Sensitivities computed using the boundary formulation are shown to be in excellent agreement with these exact expressions. 相似文献
This article proposes ultra‐miniature microstrip patches with direct and electromagnetically coupled feeding mechanism for wireless communications at 10 GHz. Antenna size reduction is achieved here by loading a modified Minkowski fractal (type‐2) defected ground structure (MFDGS‐II) exactly beneath the radiating patch. The proposed method involves the selection of best DGS configuration through sensitivity analysis of the antenna structure. From different applications point of view, three different designs: a single layer direct fed patch and two electromagnetically coupled fed multi‐layered microstrip patch antennas are proposed here and designed with MFDGS‐II. The resonant frequencies of the antenna designs are reduced in a significant manner incorporating MFDGS‐II without any change in the physical size of the antenna. The prototypes of the proposed antennas are fabricated, and the performance parameters are measured. Compared with other existing structures, with a lower patch size of 0.20 λ0 × 0.15 λ0, the proposed single layered antenna with microstrip feed achieves a patch size reduction up to 67% and an overall volumetric reduction of 84%, respectively. Similarly, the proposed multi‐layered patch with proximity feed exhibits a maximum impedance bandwidth of 600 MHz and the aperture coupled fed patch has a realized gain of 6.2 dBi with radiation efficiency of 91% centered at 10 GHz. All three proposed compact antenna structures are best in three different aspects and have the potential to meet the practical requirements for X‐band portable wireless applications. 相似文献

We are developing an external filter method for equalizing the x-ray exposure in mammography. Each filter is specially designed to match the shape of the compressed breast border and to preferentially attenuate the x-ray beam in the peripheral region of the breast. To be practical, this method should require the use of only a limited number of custom built filters. It is hypothesized that this would be possible if compressed breasts can be classified into a finite number of shapes. A study was performed to determine the number of shapes. Based on the parabolic appearance of the outer borders of compressed breasts in mammograms, the borders were fit with the polynomial equations y = ax2 + bx3 and y = ax2 + bx3 + cx4. The goodness-of-fit of these equations was compared. The a,b and a,b,c coefficients were employed in a K-Means clustering procedure to classify 470 CC-view and 484 MLO-view borders into 2-10 clusters. The mean coefficients of the borders within a given cluster defined the "filter" shape, and the individual borders were translated and rotated to best match that filter shape. The average rms differences between the individual borders and the "filter" were computed as were the standard deviations of those differences. The optimally shifted and rotated borders were refit with the above polynomial equations, and plotted for visual evaluation of clustering success. Both polynomial fits were adequate with rms errors of about 2 mm for the 2-coefficient equation, and about 1 mm for the 3-coefficient equation. Although the fits to the original borders were superior for the 3-coefficient equation, the matches to the "filter" borders determined by clustering were not significantly improved. A variety of modified clustering methods were developed and utilized, but none produced major improvements in clustering. Results indicate that 3 or 4 filter shapes may be adequate for each mammographic projection (CC- and MLO-view). To account for the wide variations in exposures observed at the peripheral regions of breasts classified to be of a particular shape, it may be necessary to employ different filters for thin, medium and thick breasts. Even with this added requirement, it should be possible to use a small number of filters as desired. 相似文献
Memristor crossbars are capable of implementing learning algorithms in a much more energy and area efficient manner compared to traditional systems. However, the programmable nature of memristor crossbars must first be explored on a smaller scale to see which memristor device structures are most suitable for applications in reconfigurable computing. In this paper, we demonstrate the programmability of memristor devices with filamentary switching based on LiNbO3, a new resistive switching oxide. We show that a range of resistance values can be set within these memristor devices using a pulse train for programming. We also show that a neuromorphic crossbar containing eight memristors was capable of correctly implementing an OR function. This work demonstrates that lithium niobate memristors are strong candidates for use in neuromorphic computing.
Analysis of charge density distributions in molecular crystals has received considerable attention in the last decade both from high-resolution X-ray diffraction studies and from high-level theoretical calculations. An overview of the progress made in deriving one-electron properties, intermolecular interactions in terms of the Atoms in Molecule (AIM) approach (R.F.W. Bader. Atoms in Molecules-A Quantum Theory, Clarendon, Oxford (1990), R.F.W. Bader. J. Phys. Chem., A102, 7314 (1998)) is given with special emphasis on improvements in charge density models and development of both experimental and theoretical techniques to interpret and analyse the nature of weak intermolecular interactions. The significance of the derived results from the charge density of coumarin and its derivatives have been analysed to obtain insights into the nature of intermolecular C–H?···?O, C–H?···?π, π?···?π, C–H?···?S, and S?···?S contacts. The appearance of a ‘region of overlap’ to segregate hydrogen bonds from van der Waals interactions based on the criteria proposed by Koch and Popelier (U. Koch, P.L.A. Popelier. J. Phys. Chem., 99, 9747 (1995), P.L.A. Popelier. Atoms in Molecules. An Introduction, pp. 150–153, Prentice Hall, UK (2000)) and the identification of differences in energy surfaces in concomitant polymorphs of 3-acetylcoumarin are described. 相似文献
