The Mexican territory has a large potential for renewable energy development, such as geothermal, hydro, biofuels, wind and solar. Thus, a 2.5 kW hybrid power system (solar, wind and hydrogen) was designed and installed to meet the power demand for a stand-alone application at the University of Zacatecas. The hybrid unit integrates three power energy sources –a photovoltaic system (PV), a micro-wind turbine (WT), a prototype of a unitized regenerative fuel cell (URFC) and energy storage devices (batteries)– in addition to their interaction methodology. The main contribution of this work is the URFC integration to a hybrid power system for the production of H2 (water electrolyzer mode) and energy (fuel cell mode). These three energy technologies were connected in parallel, synchronized to the energy storage system and finally coupled to a power conversion module. To achieve the best performance and energy management, an energy management and control strategy was developed to the properly operation of the power plant. A meteorological station that has wireless sensors for the temperature, the humidity, the solar radiation and the wind speed provides the necessary information (in real time) to the monitor and control software, which computes and executes the short and mid–term decisions about the energy management and the data storage for future analysis.  相似文献

This study proposes a combined hydrogen, heating and power system based on solar energy for the off-grid application of distributed renewable energy. With hydrogen as the energy carrier, the stable consumption of renewable energy can be achieved by integrating alkaline water electrolysis (AWE), metal hydride (MH) hydrogen storage, and proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). An energy management strategy is proposed based on the coordinated control of mass, energy, and information flow. Fluctuations in multi-source heat flow during solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation, hydrogen production, hydrogen-storage, and PEMFC power generation were studied based on electric and heating loads of typical winter and summer days in an eco-neighborhood in Ningbo, China. Owing to differences in solar radiation between summer and winter, the total electric energy generated by PV panels was 6179 kWh and 3667 kWh for summer and winter, respectively. The start-up times for AWE and MHs were 0.92 h and 0.32 h in summer and 1.70 h and 0.55 h in winter, respectively. After one day of operation, the hydrogen and heat surpluses were 57.17 kg and 5735.83 MJ in summer, while in winter the hydrogen surplus and heat deficit were 30.87 kg and 226.41 MJ, respectively.  相似文献

The objective of the project is an all-year secure supply of alternating current based on a solar energy island grid consisting of serial components and seasonal energy storage. Photovoltaic modules, inverters, electrolysers, batteries, hydrogen stores and fuel cells form the basis of the independent power supply system. For this, selected load profiles were analysed and evaluated in theory and practice. The analysis is based on the results of the test runs of the system and the simulations, in which the combined hydrogen-battery-system is compared to the battery system. It was revealed that it is sensible to complement an island grid operating on lead batteries for shortterm energy supply with hydrogen as a long-term store. This ensures a year-round supply security based on solar energy and the extension of the life span of the batteries required for hydrogen-based power stores. The systems based purely on batteries can not provide perfect supply security during long periods of low solar radiation since they do not possess energy stores which allow long-term energy storage.Hence a seasonal energy store, such as hydrogen, is required to guarantee reliable power supply for every day of the year.Autonomous power supply systems with long-term energy stores operate independently from the public grid system and can be implemented without elaborate intelligent energy management. For this, however, the costs of the serial components must be reduced and the efficiency of the system must be improved.  相似文献

The energy management and trajectory tracking control are crucial to realize long-endurance autonomous flight for hybrid electric UAVs. This study aims to comprehensively consider energy management and trajectory tracking for hybrid electric fixed wing UAVs with photovoltaic panel/fuel cell/battery. A double-layer fuzzy adaptive nonlinear model predictive control method (DFNMPC) is proposed. Separated by the surplus demand power, energy management and trajectory tracking problem are decoupled into the high-layer fuzzy adaptive nonlinear model predictive controll problem (H-FNMPC) and low-layer fuzzy adaptive nonlinear model predictive controll problem (L-FNMPC). H-FNMPC solves the trajectory tracking and navigation control probelm for the greatest benefit of solar energy. L-FNMPC solves the power allocation problem of hybrid energy system for minimum equivalent hydrogen consumption. A fuzzy adaptive prediction horizon adjustment method based on UAV maneuvering degree is proposed to effectively improve proposed method adaptability to different mission profiles. Analogously, a fuzzy adaptive equivalent hydrogen consumption factor adjustment method in L-FNMPC is proposed to ensure the flexible utilization of battery. In addition, an equivalent hydrogen flow rate calculation method based on the real-time current ratio is proposed for PV/FC/Battery hybrid energy system. Numerical simulation results including a spiral trajectory tracking and a quadrilateral trajectory tracking, demonstrate that DFNMPC can simultaneously handle energy management and trajectory tracking problem for hybrid electric UAVs. Compared to hierarchical fuzzy state machine strategy, DFNMPC can save 13.3% hydrogen for the spiral trajectory tracking, and 56.9% for the quadrilateral trajectory tracking. It indicates that the energy efficiency can be improved from both levels of energy management and flight motion. The proposed method prospected for exploring high-energy-efficiency autonomous flight of hybrid electric UAVs in the future.  相似文献

A technico-economic analysis based on integrated modeling, simulation, and optimization approach is used in this study to design an off grid hybrid solar PV/Fuel Cell power system. The main objective is to optimize the design and develop dispatch control strategies of the standalone hybrid renewable power system to meet the desired electric load of a residential community located in a desert region. The effects of temperature and dust accumulation on the solar PV panels on the design and performance of the hybrid power system in a desert region is investigated. The goal of the proposed off-grid hybrid renewable energy system is to increase the penetration of renewable energy in the energy mix, reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel combustion, and lower the cost of energy from the power systems. Simulation, modeling, optimization and dispatch control strategies were used in this study to determine the performance and the cost of the proposed hybrid renewable power system. The simulation results show that the distributed power generation using solar PV and Fuel Cell energy systems integrated with an electrolyzer for hydrogen production and using cycle charging dispatch control strategy (the fuel cell will operate to meet the AC primary load and the surplus of electrical power is used to run the electrolyzer) offers the best performance. The hybrid power system was designed to meet the energy demand of 4500 kWh/day of the residential community (150 houses). The total power production from the distributed hybrid energy system was 52% from the solar PV, and 48% from the fuel cell. From the total electricity generated from the photovoltaic hydrogen fuel cell hybrid system, 80.70% is used to meet all the AC load of the residential community with negligible unmet AC primary load (0.08%), 14.08% is the input DC power for the electrolyzer for hydrogen production, 3.30% are the losses in the DC/AC inverter, and 1.84% is the excess power (dumped energy). The proposed off-grid hybrid renewable power system has 40.2% renewable fraction, is economically viable with a levelized cost of energy of 145 $/MWh and is environmentally friendly (zero carbon dioxide emissions during the electricity generation from the solar PV and Fuel Cell hybrid power system).  相似文献

We present the results of an analysis of the performance of a photovoltaic array that complement the power output of a wind turbine generator in a stand-alone renewable energy system based on hydrogen production for long-term energy storage. The procedure for estimating hourly solar radiation, for a clear sunny day, from the daily average solar insolation is also given. The photovoltaic array power output and its effective contribution to the load as well as to the energy storage have been determined by using the solar radiation usability concept. The excess and deficit of electrical energy produced from the renewable energy sources, with respect to the load, govern the effective energy management of the system and dictate the operation of an electrolyser and a fuel cell generator. This performance analysis is necessary to determine the effective contribution from the photovoltaic array and the wind turbine generator and their contribution to the load as well as for energy storage.  相似文献

This research work is designed for the management of the electric power of an autonomous hybrid system which generally integrates several subsystems, whose main source of production is solar energy (photovoltaic panels) coupled with a hydrogen fuel cell using a storage device (lithium battery). This energy coupling behavior is used in a wide range of operating conditions ensuring the originality of the exploitation of the energy produced to supply electricity to remote regions and isolated urban regions of southern Algeria, which will be modeled by a recent graphic formalism methodology macroscopic energy representation and controlled by a simple method the maximum control structure that takes into account all the inputs and outputs of the system. This hybrid system is controlled by an energy management strategy by acting on a common continuous bus with variable residential load via a DC/DC converter, allowing control of the amount of energy between the different energy resources to minimize the use of the fuel cell from which to minimize hydrogen consumption. Another is used to maintain the voltage of this bus at its reference via the battery by regulating the bidirectional DC/DC converter.  相似文献

The hybrid powerplant combining a fuel cell and a battery has become one of the most promising alternative power systems for electric unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). To enhance the fuel efficiency and battery service life, highly effective and robust online energy management strategies are needed in real applications. In this work, an energy management system is designed to control the hybrid fuel cell and battery power system for electric UAVs. To reduce the weight, only one programmable direct-current to direct-current (dcdc) converter is used as the critical power split component to implement the power management strategy. The output voltage and current of the dcdc is controlled by an independent energy management controller. An executable process of online fuzzy energy management strategy is proposed and established. According to the demand power and battery state of charge, the online fuzzy energy management strategy produces the current command for the dcdc to directly control the output current of the fuel cell and to indirectly control the charge/discharge current of the battery based on the power balance principle.Another two online strategies, the passive control strategy and the state machine strategy, are also employed to compare with the proposed online fuzzy strategy in terms of the battery management and fuel efficiency. To evaluate and compare the feasibility of the online energy management strategies in application, experiments with three types of missions are carried out using the hybrid power system test-bench, which consists of a commercial fuel cell EOS600, a Lipo battery, a programmable dcdc converter, an energy management controller, and an electric load. The experimental investigation shows that the proposed online fuzzy strategy prefers to use the most power from the battery and consumes the least amount of hydrogen fuel compared with the other two online energy management strategies.  相似文献

The desire of achieving carbon neutrality and the decarbonization objective is the key driver for the interest in green hydrogen for power plant generation as a clean and flexible energy carrier. In fact, the use of hydrogen-based generating plants as hydrogen fuel cells in solar microgrids plays a major role in the energy transition and adds more reliability to this type of microgrid. This study presents a hierarchical control level 1 and 2 of an islanded microgrid with green hydrogen production, storage, and re-electrification. The purpose of this article is to control a stand-alone/off-grid microgrid with renewable hydrogen storage-based non-dispatchable sustainable energy solutions. An energy management strategy was implemented and a primary and secondary control was applied in order to maintain the voltage and frequency of the islanded microgrid at their steady state values.  相似文献

This paper presents economically optimized energy and power management strategies for grid-friendly hydrogen based Zero Energy Buildings (ZEBs). The proposed energy management strategy is an adaptative optimization-based strategy that minimizes the operation cost of the facility taking into account RES generation prediction errors. It is shown that with an Adaptative Optimized Five-step Charge Controller (AOFC2) the use of the different equipment is optimized and the overall operation cost is minimized considering the entire life of the facility. The proposed energy management strategy is coordinated with power management strategies to offer advanced functionalities (peak-shaving, reactive power control and back-up service) that provide added-value to the facility. The paper demonstrates by means of offline and real-time simulations, that an adequate energy and power management structure permits the optimal economic exploitation of an advanced ZEB (that includes an energy storage system), providing not only a zero energy annual balance but also interesting added-value features to the grid and to the local consumers.  相似文献

One of the objectives of the research project at Hawaii Natural Energy Institute (HNEI) is to demonstrate long-term durability of the electrolyzer when operated under cyclic operation for frequency regulation on an Island grid system. In this paper, a Hydrogen Energy System with an electrolyzer is analyzed as a potential grid management tool. A simulation tool developed with a validated model of the hydrogen energy system and Island of Hawaii grid model is presented and employed for this investigation. The simulation study uses realistic measured solar and wind power profiles to understand what optimal electrolyzer size would be required to achieve the maximum level of grid frequency stabilization. The simulation results give insight into critical information when designing a hydrogen energy system for grid management applications and the economic impact it has when operated as a pure grid management scheme or as a limitless hydrogen production system.  相似文献

Power generation and its storage using solar energy and hydrogen energy systems is a promising approach to overcome serious challenges associated with fossil fuel-based power plants. In this study, an exergoeconomic model is developed to analyze a direct steam solar tower-hydrogen gas turbine power plant under different operating conditions. An on-grid solar power plant integrated with a hydrogen storage system composed of an electrolyser, hydrogen gas turbine and fuel cell is considered. When solar energy is not available, electrical power is generated by the gas turbine and the fuel cell utilizing the hydrogen produced by the electrolyser. The effects of different working parameters on the cycle performance during charging and discharging processes are investigated using thermodynamic analysis. The results indicate that increasing the solar irradiation by 36%, leads to 13% increase in the exergy efficiency of the cycle. Moreover, the mass flow rate of the heat transfer fluid in solar system has a considerable effect on the exergy cost of output power. Solar tower has the highest exergy destruction and capital investment cost. The highest exergoeconomic factor for the integrated cycle is 60.94%. The steam turbine and PEM electrolyser have the highest share of exergoeconomic factor i.e., 80.4% and 50%, respectively.  相似文献

The objective of this paper is to mathematically model a stand-alone renewable power system, referred to as “Photovoltaic–Fuel Cell (PVFC) hybrid system”, which maximizes the use of a renewable energy source. It comprises a photovoltaic generator (PV), a water electrolyzer, a hydrogen tank, and a proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell generator. A multi-domain simulation platform Simplorer is employed to model the PVFC hybrid systems. Electrical power from the PV generator meets the user loads when there is sufficient solar radiation. The excess power from the PV generator is then used for water electrolysis to produce hydrogen. The fuel cell generator works as a backup generator to supplement the load demands when the PV energy is deficient during a period of low solar radiation, which keeps the system's reliability at the same level as for the conventional system. Case studies using the present model have shown that the present hybrid system has successfully tracked the daily power consumption in a typical family. It also verifies the effectiveness of the proposed management approach for operation of a stand-alone hybrid system, which is essential for determining a control strategy to ensure efficient and reliable operation of each part of the hybrid system. The present model scheme can be helpful in the design and performance analysis of a complex hybrid-power system prior to practical realization.  相似文献

This paper reports on the feasibility of a hybrid power generation system consisting of a solar energy‐driven Rankine engine and a hydrogen storage unit. Solar energy, the power for the hybrid system, is converted into electrical power through a combination of a solar collector, a tracking device to maintain proper orientation with the sun and a Rankine cycle engine driving an electrical power generator. Excess electricity is utilized to produce hydrogen for storage through electrolysis of water. At the solar down time, the stored hydrogen can be used to produce high‐quality steam in an aphodid burner to operate a turbine and with a field modulated generator to supplement electric power. Case studies are carried out on the optimum configuration of the hybrid system satisfying the energy demand. A numerical example based on the actual measured solar input is also included to demonstrate the design potential. Copyright © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

An autonomous power system that exploits solar energy for the production of hydrogen through water electrolysis is fully assessed in terms of system implementation and optimal operating strategy. A 10 kWp photovoltaic array supplies energy to a PEM electrolyzer rated at 6.9 kWp. In order to maintain a smooth operation regardless of the inherent weather fluctuations, a 1000 Ah/24 V lead–acid accumulator stores energy excess and provides it when needed. The monitoring and control of the system is implemented through a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA), while the interactions between electrical and chemical subsystems are addressed by a complete automation infrastructure. The mathematical models of each subsystem are validated based on real operational data and a model-based power management strategy is proposed and assessed through a parameter sensitivity analysis. Further on, an off-line optimization framework is evaluated regarding the optimal operation of the system in two diverse, but representative time periods. The optimal parameters are identified and their effect on hydrogen production and accumulator utilization is reported.  相似文献

This paper designs an off-grid charging station for electric and hydrogen vehicles. Both the electric and hydrogen vehicles are charged at the same time. They appear as two electrical and hydrogen load demand on the charging station and the charging station is powered by solar panels. The output power of solar system is separated into two parts. On part of solar power is used to supply the electrical load demand (to charge the electric vehicles) and rest runs water electrolyzer and it will be converted to the hydrogen. The hydrogen is stored and it supplies the hydrogen load demand (to charge the hydrogen-burning vehicles). The uncertainty of parameters (solar energy, consumed power by electrical vehicles, and consumed power by hydrogen vehicles) is included and modeled. The fuel cell is added to the charging station to deal with such uncertainty. The fuel cell runs on hydrogen and produces electrical energy to supply electrical loading under uncertainties. The diesel generator is also added to the charging station as a supplementary generation. The problem is modeled as stochastic optimization programming and minimizes the investment and operational costs of solar and diesel systems. The introduced planning finds optimal rated powers of solar system and diesel generator, operation pattern for diesel generator and fuel cell, and the stored hydrogen. The results confirm that the cost of changing station is covered by investment cost of solar system (95%), operational cost of diesel generator (4.5%), and investment cost of diesel generator (0.5%). The fuel cell and diesel generator supply the load demand when the solar energy is zero. About 97% of solar energy will be converted to hydrogen and stored. The optimal operation of diesel generator reduces the cost approximately 15%.  相似文献

Lately, interest in renewable sources, especially wind and solar energy, has shown a significant increase in all over the world that mostly depends on climate-threatening conventional fossil fuels. Besides, hybrid use of these power sources with suitable back-up units provides many advantages compared to sole use of these sources. In this regard, a hybrid system consisting of a wind turbine for utilizing the wind energy, photovoltaic panels for solar energy, fuel cell for providing back-up power and a battery unit for storing the possible excess energy production and supplying the transient load is considered in this study. Experimental assessment of this system in different case studies including the real time measured dynamic power demand of an office block is realized. The collaborative actions of the proposed hybrid system with a fuzzy logic based energy management strategy during fluctuations of renewable-based power production are investigated. Thus, results of this study may be valuable for evaluating the feasibility of stand-alone hybrid renewable energy units for future power systems.  相似文献

CNR–ITAE is developing several hydrogen and fuel cell demonstration and research projects, each intended to be part of a larger strategy for hydrogen communities settling in small Sicilian islands. These projects involve vehicle design, hydrogen production from renewable energy sources and methane, as well as implementation strategies to develop a hydrogen and renewable energy economy. These zero emission lightweight vehicles feature regenerative braking and advanced power electronics to increase efficiency. Moreover, to achieve a very easy-to-use technology, a very simple interface between driver and the system is under development, including fault-recovery strategies and GPS positioning for car-rental fleets. Also marine applications have been included, with tests on PEFC applied on passenger ships and luxury yacht as power system for on-board loads. In marine application, it is under study also an electrolysis hydrogen generator system using seawater as hydrogen carrier. Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC) have proven to be a promising energy conversion technology in various power applications and since it was developed, it has been a potential alternative over fossil fuel-based engines and power plants, all of which produce harmful by-products. The inlet air coolant and reactants have an important effect on the performance degradation of the PEMFC and certain power outputs. In this work, a theoretical model of a PEM fuel cell with solar air heating system for the preheating hydrogen of PEM fuel cell to mitigate the performance degradation when the fuel cell operates in cold environment, is proposed and evaluated by using energy analysis. Considering these heating and energy losses of heat generation by hydrogen fuel cells, the idea of using transpired solar collectors (TSC) for air preheating to increase the inlet air temperature of the low-temperature fuel cell could be a potential development. The aim of the current article is applying solar air preheating for the hydrogen fuel cells system by applying TSC and analyzing system performance. Results aim to attention fellow scholars as well as industrial engineers in the deployment of solar air heating together with hydrogen fuel cell systems that could be useful for coping with fossil fuel-based power supply systems.  相似文献
