A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a self-configurable network connected by wireless links. This type of network is only suitable for provisional communication links as it is infrastructure-less and there is no centralized control. Providing QoS and security aware routing is a challenging task in this type of network due to dynamic topology and limited resources. The main purpose of secure and trust based on-demand multipath routing is to find trust based secure route from source to destination which will satisfy two or more end to end QoS constraints. In this paper, the standard ad hoc on-demand multi-path distance vector protocol is extended as the base routing protocol to evaluate this model. The proposed mesh based multipath routing scheme to discover all possible secure paths using secure adjacent position trust verification protocol and better link optimal path find by the Dolphin Echolocation Algorithm for efficient communication in MANET. The performance analysis and numerical results show that our proposed routing protocol produces better packet delivery ratio, reduced packet delay, reduced overheads and provide security against vulnerabilities and attacks.  相似文献

Nodes in a mobile ad hoc network are battery constrained devices and energy efficiency becomes an important consideration. In a multi-hop mobile ad hoc network the most common method to achieve energy efficiency is the transmission power control scheme in which a node transmits the data packets to its nearest neighbor which is at minimum required power level. However this scheme minimizes only the transmission power within the node’s neighborhood and energy efficiency at the link level is possible. With this scheme it is not possible to minimize the overall energy consumption of the network and the communication overhead of the network is not minimized. An analysis has been performed and our results have proved that instead of using low transmission power, the routing strategy needs to be controlled and only certain nodes are to be allowed to receive and process this routing request based on the received signal strength, then the overall energy consumption of the network can be minimized and the communication overhead is also minimized. The modified routing strategy is applied to the basic ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) routing protocol and a maximum transmission range based ad hoc on-demand distance vector routing protocol named AODV range routing (AODV_RR) is proposed and studied under different network sizes. Measurable difference in performance is realized and the proposed AODV_RR perform better than normal AODV with respect to all the selected metrics.  相似文献

Efficient on-demand routing for mobile ad hoc wireless access networks   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
In this paper, we consider a mobile ad hoc wireless access network in which mobile nodes can access the Internet via one or more stationary gateway nodes. Mobile nodes outside the transmission range of the gateway can continue to communicate with the gateway via their neighboring nodes over multihop paths. On-demand routing schemes are appealing because of their low routing overhead in bandwidth restricted mobile ad hoc networks, however, their routing control overhead increases exponentially with node density in a given geographic area. To control the overhead of on-demand routing without sacrificing performance, we present a novel extension of the ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) routing protocol, called LB-AODV, which incorporates the concept of load-balancing (LB). Simulation results show that as traffic increases, our proposed LB-AODV routing protocol has a significantly higher packet delivery fraction, a lower end-to-end delay and a reduced routing overhead when compared with both AODV and gossip-based routing protocols.  相似文献

A stable and reliable routing mechanism for vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) is an important step toward the provision of long data transmission applications, such as file sharing and music download. Traditional mobile ad hoc network (MANET) routing protocols are not suitable for VANET because the mobility model and environment of VANET are different from those of traditional MANET. To solve this problem, we proposed a new stable routing algorithm, called stable directional forward routing. The novelty of the proposed routing protocol is its combining direction broadcast and path duration prediction into ad hoc on-demand distance vector routing protocols, which including: (1) Nodes in VANET are grouped based on the position, only nodes in a given direction range participating in the route discovery process to reduce the frequency of flood requests, (2) Route selection is based on the link duration while not the hops or other metrics to increase the path duration, (3) Route discovery is executed before the path expiration in order to decrease the end to end delay. The performance of the new scheme is evaluated through extensive simulations with Qualnet. Simulation results indicate the benefits of the proposed routing strategy in terms of decreasing routing control packet, reducing the number of link-breakage events, improving the packet delivery ratio and decreasing the end-to-end delay.  相似文献

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are becoming an emerging technology that offer several advantages to users in terms of cost and ease of use. A MANET is a collection of mobile nodes connected by wireless links that form a temporary network topology that operates without a base station and centralized administration. Routing is a method through which information is forwarded from a transmitter to a specific recipient. Routing is a strategy that guarantees, at any time, the connection between any two nodes in a network. In this work, we propose a novel routing protocol inspired by the cuckoo search method. Our routing protocol is implemented using Network simulator 2. We chose Random WayPoint model as our mobility model. To validate our work, we opted for the comparison with the routing protocol ad hoc on-demand distance vector, destination sequence distance vector and the bio-inspired routing protocol AntHocNet in terms of the quality of service parameters: packet delivery ratio and end-to-end delay (E2ED).  相似文献

Ad hoc网络是一种无需依赖于事先布设的基础设施,而仅依靠网络内部节点之间的协作,就能够完成节点间通信的网络。比较了Ad hoc网络两种主流的按需路由协议:动态源路由协议,自组网按需距离矢量路由协议。使用基于ns-2的仿真模型进行仿真,并通过分组交付率、平均端到端时延、标准化路由负荷、对两种按需路由协议进行评估。实验结果表明即使DSR和AODV协议都是按需路由协议,但它们采取的路由机制的不同,导致它们的性能表现的巨大差异。  相似文献

针对传统路由协议端到端时延长、丢包率过高的现实问题,提出了一种基于贪婪转发的能量感知多路径路由协议(Greedy Forward Energy-aware Multipath Routing Protocol,GFEMRP)。GFEMRP从传感器起始结点出发,如果遇到网络黑洞则选择周边转发方式,否则将选择吞吐量大、且更接近于目的结点的结点作为下一跳结点。利用了OMNET++5.0和INET框架对包括无线自组网按需平面距离向量路由协议(Ad hoc on-demand distance vector routing protocol,AODV),动态按需无线自组织网络(Dynamic MANET On-demand,DYMO),贪婪周边无状态路由无线网络(Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing for Wireless Networks,GPSR)和GFEMRP协议在内的四种路由协议进行了仿真和比较,实验结果表明GFEMRP协议具有良好的端到端时延、丢包率等性能。  相似文献

Vehicular Ad-hoc network (VANET) is a self-organized ad hoc network. VANET becomes a most challenging research area as it has several issues related to routing protocols, quality of service, security, etc. Vehicular communication is critically unsafe to several kinds of active and passive routing attacks. This paper analyzes the impact of a compromised node (vehicle) on zone routing protocol and ad-hoc on-demand distance vector, and recommends a suitable solution called secure vehicular on demand routing to find out and mitigate the black hole attack. The given study analyses the effect of vehicle density on the average throughput, packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay, normalized routing load and average path length.  相似文献

The proposed work is based on the path optimization approach for wireless sensor network (WSN). Path optimization is achieved by using the NSG 2.1 Tool, TCL Script file and NS2 simulator to improve the quality of service (QoS). Path optimization approach finds best suitable path between sensor nodes of WSN. The routing approach is not only the solution to improve the quality but also improves the WSN performance. The node cardinally is taken under consideration using the ad-hoc on demand distance vector routing protocol mechanism. Ad hoc approach emphasize on sensor nodes coverage area performance along with simulation time. NSG 2.1 Tool calculates the sensor node packet data delivery speed which can facilitate inter-node communication successfully. An experimental result verified that the proposed design is the best possible method which can escape from slow network response while covering maximum sensor nodes. It achieves coverage support in sensor node deployment. The result outcomes show best path for transferring packet from one sensor node to another node. The coverage area of sensor node gives the percentage of average coverage ratio of each node with respect to the simulation time.

In this paper, in order to fulfill real-time traffic requirements in ad hoc networks, a novel and effective single phase admission control (SPAC) scheme for QoS-routing protocols has been proposed. The SPAC scheme is based on the ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) protocol with slight modifications of control packets; network congestions are avoided by a simple and precise admission control that blocks most of the overloading flow requests in the route-discovery process. System simulations show that the SPAC scheme and its performance is comparable to the contention-aware admission control protocol (CACP)-Multihop performance in all respects; the SPAC scheme is also simpler. As compared to a QoS-aware routing protocol employing either “listen” or “hello” scheme, the SPAC protocol offers higher throughput and remarkably less end-to-end delays under heavy loads.  相似文献

Increasing popularity and availability of portable wireless devices, which constitute mobile ad hoc networks, calls for scalable ad hoc routing protocols. On-demand routing protocols adapt well with dynamic topologies of ad hoc networks, because of their lower control overhead and quick response to route breaks. But, as the size of the network increases, these protocols cease to perform due to large routing overhead generated while repairing route breaks. We propose a multipath on-demand routing protocol (SMORT), which reduces the routing overhead incurred in recovering from route breaks, by using secondary paths. SMORT computes fail-safe multiple paths, which provide all the intermediate nodes on the primary path with multiple routes (if exists) to destination. Exhaustive simulations using GloMoSim with large networks (2000 nodes) confirm that SMORT is scalable, and performs better even at higher mobility and traffic loads, when compared to the disjoint multipath routing protocol (DMRP) and ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) routing protocol.  相似文献

The majority of existing ad hoc network routing protocols has a tendency to use the shortest single path from a source to a destination. However, in constantly changing topologies such as those in mobile ad hoc wireless networks, the shortest single path is not only unreliable for reachability but also unsuitable for traffic load equilibrium. In order to improve routing performance and make optimum use of the limited resources, the congestion must first be relieved as much as possible and the routing path be made available at all times. In this paper, we propose a novel scheme, called the Applicative Indirect Routing (AIR), to control network traffic congestion and refine route availability by coping with unreliable links quickly. The proposed scheme, acting as a proactive routing protocol, utilizes additional information about the neighbors shared by the sender and the receiver to find an alternative for the original path with unreliable links. The additional bandwidth usage in AIR to obtain the information about shared neighbors (defined as proxy candidates) is so minimal that the bandwidth availability for user data traffic is not significantly affected. Extensive simulation experiments show that compared with a conventional proactive protocol, namely Destination-Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV), the AIR scheme leads to a much improved system performance in terms of packet delivery ratio, average end-to-end packet delay, and network reliability. We further show that, in terms of packet delivery ratio, AIR is also a competitive protocol compared with such reactive protocols as Ad hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) and Dynamic Source Routing (DSR).  相似文献

Dynamic change in the topology of an ad hoc network makes it difficult to design an efficient routing protocol. Scalability of an ad hoc network is also one of the important criteria of research in this field. Most of the research works in ad hoc network focus on routing and medium access protocols and produce simulation results for limited-size networks. Ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) is one of the best reactive routing protocols. In this article, modified routing protocols based on local link repairing of AODV are proposed. Method of finding alternate routes for next-to-next node is proposed in case of link failure. These protocols are beacon-less, means periodic hello message is removed from the basic AODV to improve scalability. Few control packet formats have been changed to accommodate suggested modification. Proposed protocols are simulated to investigate scalability performance and compared with basic AODV protocol. This also proves that local link repairing of proposed protocol improves scalability of the network. From simulation results, it is clear that scalability performance of routing protocol is improved because of link repairing method. We have tested protocols for different terrain area with approximate constant node densities and different traffic load.  相似文献

In wireless sensor networks, some areas often become unavailable due to the exhaustion of nodes’ energy, congestion, or disaster. In this paper, we propose a new micro sensor multi-path routing protocol (MSMRP) to avoid the unavailable areas when constructing the routes. A neighbor node table exchanging mechanism in MSMRP is used to avoid the multiple paths intersect and to build a new route around the unavailable areas. We have implemented the proposed protocol in a network with real sensor nodes and conducted experiments to demonstrate the operation and the capability of the MSMRP. Furthermore, we illustrate the performance of MSMRP comparing to ad hoc on demand multi-path distance vector (AOMDV) routing protocol with NS-2 simulations.  相似文献

Mobile ad hoc multipath routing protocols have attracted considerable research attention over the past decade, but the limited battery life of nodes remains a significant obstacle. Many researchers have designed multipath routing protocols that balance the data load between the generated paths, but there is always some tradeoff between conserving the nodes’ energy and delivering data. In this paper, I introduce a load balancing (LB) multipath routing protocol based on maximal minimal nodal residual energy (MMRE) in the ad hoc on-demand multipath distance vector (AOMDV) protocol. The proposed LBMMRE-AOMDV protocol evaluates the generated paths based on the maximal nodal residual energy and the actual number of packets that could be transmitted over that path without depleting the nodes’ energy. The performance of the proposed protocol was tested and evaluated using different scenarios and performance metrics, and achieved good results compared with MMRE-AOMDV and AOMDV. In particular, the proposed method can increase packet delivery and decrease the number of dead nodes, thus reducing the probability of network portioning.  相似文献

A trust-aware secure routing protocol (TSRP) for wireless sensor networks is proposed in this paper to defend against varieties of attacks. First, each node calculates the comprehensive trust values of its neighbors based on direct trust value, indirect trust value, volatilization factor, and residual energy to defend against black hole, selective forwarding, wormhole, hello flood, and sinkhole attacks. Second, any source node that needs to send data forwards a routing request packet to its neighbors in multi-path mode, and this continues until the sink at the end is reached. Finally, the sink finds the optimal path based on the path's comprehensive trust values, transmission distance, and hop count by analyzing the received packets. Simulation results show that TSRP has lower network latency, smaller packet loss rate, and lower average network energy consumption than ad hoc on-demand distance vector routing and trust based secure routing protocol.  相似文献

Ad hoc networks have a scalability problem. When the nodes of an ad hoc network increase in number or mobility, the amount of control traffic for routing increases and could cause traffic congestion. Cluster-based routing schemes have been proposed as a solution to this problem. Typical cluster-based ad hoc networks use a proactive routing scheme for intra-cluster routes and a reactive routing scheme for inter-cluster routes. In this study, we propose a new cluster-based routing scheme for ad hoc networks which makes use of the mobility of nodes. Nodes are divided into two groups on the basis of their mobility. For a route search within a cluster, a proactive routing scheme is used for low-mobility nodes and a flooding-based reactive routing scheme is used for high-mobility nodes. The required control traffic of the proposed scheme is analyzed and optimal parameters of the proposed scheme are derived from the analysis. The numerical results show that the proposed scheme produces far less control traffic than a typical cluster-based routing scheme.  相似文献

A video‐on‐demand (VoD) application system over mobile ad hoc networks typically requires particular quality of service (QoS) parameters to be achieved. In this paper, we have proposed a novel QoS‐based routing protocol called as mobile VoD protocol. This protocol has been developed for improving the QoS of the mobile VoD system (normal Mobi_VoD approach). The protocol uses customer caching scheme for storing the first fragment of the entire video in the mobile customers and thereafter broadcast them when the new mobile customers missed the portion of the already transmitted first fragment for reducing the service delay of the customer, consequently optimizing QoS parameters. Various scenarios have been studied, and the efficacy of simulation results proves that the proposed system architecture in which the mobile customers use an ad hoc network caching scheme (mobile VoD protocol) is more efficient and performs better than the existing system (ad hoc on‐demand distance vector protocol) when compared in terms of QoS parameters such as the end‐to‐end delay, energy consumption, packet delivery ratio, throughput, and overhead.  相似文献
