The double pot technique called Bouma-Janssen method, was used to evaluate the nutrient status of three soils of the UNDP Cotton Project, Nepal. In all three soils, N deficiency could be assessed both by soil analysis and pot experiments using a double pot technique. P- and K-deficiency, which were expected from soil analysis, could be confirmed in two of the three soils. The double pot experimental technique proved to be suitable for the rapid evaluation of the macro nutrient status of cotton soils under circumstances where no laboratory facilities are available. The process of pot life screening of two-component coatings is significantly accelerated by using an automated coating formulation system with viscosity measurement capability. High-throughput methods are revolutionizing the processes used in polymer and coatings development. A high-throughput approach to characterize the effect of formulation variables on pot life of two-component solventborne coatings is presented. Using an automated formulation system with viscosity measurement capability, the viscosity of the coatings formulations is measured periodically to determine the viscosity–time profile. As examples, variables such as catalyst type, catalyst level, polyol composition, polyol to isocyanate ratio, and pot life extender were selected as formulation variables and their role in pot life were explored. Compared to traditional pot life determination methods using efflux viscosity cups, the high-throughput approach greatly improves the speed and efficiency of the process and allows many more compositions to be explored. 相似文献

The heating and flow behavior of thermoset molding compound within the pot of a transfer molding process were studied with flow visualization experiments and a mathematical model. The flow pattern within the pot was found to be a stagnation point flow. The extrudate temperature was only 10°C–15°C above the preheat temperature, and it was relatively constant except for start-up and termination transients. The chemical conversion of the extrudate was well below the conversion to gel for typical process conditions.
