| Abstract: | Aim\ To investigate the effect of
parathormone(PTH) on left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH).\ Methods\
Sixty two essential hypertension(EH) patients(32 men,30 women,mean 55
years) were divided into LVH group and non LVH group by
echocardiography.\ Parathyroid hormone(PTH) were determined by radio
immunoassay.\ Results\ There was a significant difference in PTH
between EH group and normal control group.\ Furthermore, in LVH group
PTH elevated significantly compared with non LVH group.\ In
addition, we found that LVMI(left ventricular mass index) correlated
significantly with PTH(r=0 422,P<0 01).\ Conclusion\ PTH to be
involved into the mechanism of cardiac hypertrophy. |
