A 2.5Gb/s CMOS Transimpedance Preamplifier for Optical Receiver

A 2.5Gb/s transimpedance preamplifier was realized by using 0.35μm CMOS technology. This preamplifier gives a 2GHz bandwidth with 59dB*Ω transimpedance gain. The equivalent input current noise is about 0.8×10-22A2/Hz at 2GHz frequency point. Under the supply voltage of 5V, the power dissipation is 250mW. The PCML single-ended output signal has the constant output voltage swing (200mVp-p). The chip area is 1.0mm×1.1mm.
