Abstract:This paper has made an approach to the colouring mechanism of zircon rare-earth ceramic pigment from the crystal structure and spectrometric property. The lattice constant, the lattice dcformation and spectro-reflection coefficient of Zr_(1-(x+y))Cr_xPr_ySiO_4 have been studied by means of XRD internal standardization and spectrophotometer. It has been discovered that Pr~(3+) make lattice expanding and deforming, thus causing changes is optical properties of the pigment.
