| Abstract: | The calculation of elastic stability of a single step bar or a multi-step bar with varying segments subjected to concentrated and distributed axial forces is studied, the analytic solution of stability of the whole bar or part of it is obtained in this paper. In general, this analytic solution of a single step bar is expressed by the Bassel's function and a super-geometric function,and the analytic solution of a multistep bar is expressed by the analytic solution of stability of a single step bar and the transition matrix proposed by the authors. |
