Abstract: | In this paper, the transient thermal-stress problem in a plate subjected to frictional heat generation in rolling ( or welding) is theoretically analyzed with the consideration of the thermomechanical coupling effect. Numerical evaluation is carried out for the temperature distribution, thermal stresses, and thermal deformation in a flat plate heated by linear heat sources which are located symmetrically on both surfaces and which move with constant velocity. |
