从关联理论看翻译——兼与王斌先生商榷

王斌认为,关联理论解释的翻译现象就是同化翻译、可译性与重译。事实上,关联理论也可以解释异化翻译现象。翻译就是翻译作者的意图。根据原文作者的意图,译者可以作异化翻译。这样做虽然会增加译文读者的推理努力,但译文读者能获得更大的语境效果,从而也能保持最佳关联性的传递。根据认知语境的特点,必要时在译文中增加信息为译文读者营造一个关联语境,使译文读者获得与原文读者相近的语境推理前提。但过多的增加信息会增加推理努力且背离原文作者的意图。

Study on the Translation From Perspective of Relevance Theory——A Discussion With Mr. Wang Bin

Wang Bin argued that relevance theory can explain domesticating translation,translatability and retranslating at most.Actually,relevance theory can explain foreignizing translation as well.Translation is to translate the author's intentions.Translators can do foreignizing translation according to the author's intentions.Although this may increase the processing effort of the readers in TL,it will enlarge the contextual effects too.So it can retain the optimal relevance in TT.Due to the features of cognitive context,necessary information can be added to the TT to establish a relevant context for the readers in TL.By virtue of this,readers in TL can gain the similar pragmatic premises of inference.However,if too much information is added,the processing effort will increase and TT will depart from the author's intentions.
