| 摘 要： | 随着信息技术的飞速发展，图书馆员的职责发生了根本性的变化。文章介绍了美国图书馆员的工作范畴与职业素质要求等。新时期的图书馆员不仅需要掌握日新月异的信息技术，还需具有扎实的图书馆学专业知识，从而有效提高图书馆利用率。

| Abstract: | The traditional concept of a library is being redefined from a place to access paper records or books to one that also houses the most advanced media, including the Intemet, virtual libraries, and remote access to a wide range of resources. In this paper, the requirement of the working nature, qualifications, and professional qualities of American librarians has been presented. Librarians increasingly are combining traditional duties with tasks involving quickly changing technology, and must have knowledge of a wide variety of scholarly and public information sources. |
