Marcus dependence of the fluorescence quenching constant of zinc tetraphenylporphin in isopropanol on the reduction potential of the oxidant
Authors:E I Kapinus
Abstract:The quenching of the fluorescence of zinc tetraphenylporphin (ZnTPP) by oxidizing agents (quinones and nitro-compounds) in isopropanol) is based on a dynamic as well as on a static mechanism. Static quenching is caused by the formation of outer-sphere molecular complexes, in which the donor and the acceptor are joined by alcohol molecules. The dependence of the constant of static fluorescence quenching on the reduction potential of the oxidant is represented by a bell-shaped curve according to the classical theory of electron transfer.L.
