Based on the analysis of the development state of renewable energy, the author believes that great progress has been made in renewable energy in the last two decades. Some of the new technologies are maturate, which can play more and more role in living energy. The preliminary analysis of the renewable energy resources in Chongming Island indicates that there are plenty of renewable energy resources, and Chongming Island is the ideal area to exploit renewable energy. Based on the rational development planning, Chongming Island is likely to be a typical base of new renewable energy.
