Abstract:Objective To study the effect of different gender and age on bone metabolic indexes, serum osteoprotegerin, and bone mineral density in primary osteoporosis. Methods A total of 92 patients with primary osteoporosis were selected. According to gender, 92 patients were divided into male group (36 cases) and female group (56 cases). According to age, 92 patients were divided into 40-50-year-old group (38 cases), 50-60-year-old group (27 cases), 60-70-year-old group (17 cases), and over 70-year-old group (10 cases). Bone metabolic index (BGP and ALP), serum osteoprotegerin (OPG), and bone mineral density (BMD) were detected in patients of the different gender and age groups Statistical analysis was performed on the change trend of every index. Results The levels of BGP, ALP, and OPG were lower in male patients than those in females (P<0.05), but the average BMD of the lumbar spine and the right femoral neck was higher than that in females (P<0.05). With the increase of age, levels of BGP, ALP, and OPG increased (P<0.05), but BMD of the lumbar spine and the right femoral neck decreased (P<0.05). Conclusion Gender and age are important factors to affect bone metabolic index, serum osteoprotegerin, and BMD in patients with primary osteoporosis. By analysis of the impact factors we can provide the reference for the prevention and control of the disease.
