| Abstract: | Recent advances in ring closing metathesis (RCM) reaction and its catalysts, including ene yne metathesis reaction are reviewed. The functional compatibilities of some well defined metathesis catalysts, in particular the Schorck molybdenum based catalysts and the Grubbs' ruthenium based catalyst are summarized. The application of the RCM reaction in the synthesis of some heterocycles and nature products are also highlighted. |
