| Abstract: | Inheriting his predecessors' language development viewpoints, Fang Yi-zhi established the initial theory of historical linguistics. He attached great importance to the research into the synchronic differences between dialects and the diachronic analysis of pronunciation changes. He also ushered a new era of phonetics in China's linguistic history. |
