Abstract: | Multiply connected network of river channels and lakes is the main feature of the Middle Yangtze River. The simulation of flood detention of the system is a subject of intensive research. This paper presents a numerical model based on a combination of hydrodynamic and hydrological methods, which is suitable for complex river channel network simulation, and is validated using hydrologic and topographic data from the river channel network of Dongting Lake region in the Middle Yangtze River Area Coordinated flood detention operation in the river channel network of Dongting Lake region has been simulated and the result shows that the model produces accurate predictions of the variation in water stage and discharge when flood diversion operation is carried out in enclosed low lands. |
