| Abstract: | In recent years, the building progressive collapse events happen repeatedly. Several buildings design code which include progressive collapse provisions were issued in European and American engineering communities. In China,there is no such a design code. In this paper, a design approach to resist progressive collapse for reinforced concrete structure is introduced. By means of arranging ties in structure, the building is mechanically tied together, enhancing continuity and ductility, and the capacity of structure to resist progressive collapse is enhanced. |
