| Abstract: | Blends of polyoxymethylene with acrylic rubber, polystyrene with butadiene-styrenevinylpyridine rubber and polypropylene with acrylic rubber in the presence of polymethacrylic acid with polymethyl methacrylate grafts, polymethacrylic acid with polystyrene grafts and maleated polypropylene as compatibilizers respectively were studied.Mechanical properties of the blends were improved in the presence of about 2% compatibilizer. The impact strength of the plastics was raised by blending with rubber.Some blends showed synergistic effect with respect to tensile strength. SEM of the broken section of The blends indicated that the disperse phase of the blend became finer and more uniform in the presence of the compatibilizer. |
