| Abstract: | In this review, the prospect of the exploitation of sterol resources as potentially useful starting material for the synthesis of steroid drugs is discussed and various synthetic methods for conversion of the steroidal 17-oxo group into the corticoid side chain develo- ped in recent years are summerized. |
