APOPTOSIS OF LENSEPITHELIAL CELL INDUCED BY ULTRAVIOLET
Abstract:Objective:To investigate the apoptosis of lens epithelial cell induced by ultraviolet.Methods:Vistar rats received 100mw/m2 ultraviolet irradition(UVR)(λ 280nm-315nm) for 15 minutes.At h1,6,24 after irradition the lens capsules were dissected and the percentage of apoptotic cells were evaluted by the TdT-dUTP terminal nick-end labeling(TUNEL) technique.The morphological changes were observed by transmission electron microscope.Results:TUNEL-positive nuclei were found at only 24 hours after UVR exposure and the percentage is 14.3%.Cell chromatin condensation was observed by transmission electron microscope.Conclusions:Our results showed that UVR can induce the rapid apoptotic death of the lens epithelial cells.
