| Abstract: | The paper studied a class initial boun dary problem for a nonlinear wave equation with damping term. We define stable and unstable sets for the initial data. We prove the weak solution exist if initial data enter into stable sets and we are able to estimat e the decay rate of the energy. If the intial data enter into unstable sets the solutions blows up in finite time. |
