Abstract:The influence of sulfurized olefin on the tribological performanceof Al_2O_3 and Si_3N_4 has been investigated by using a pin-on-disc machine. Underboundary lubrication, serious wear happened with the Al_2O_3/Al_2O_3 pair andsome material transformation from steel to Al_2O_3 can be observed in theAl_2O_3-steel couple, and the chemical analysis showed that steel dissolved in thelubricant sample due to the corrosion of Fe by sulfur. Due to the high inertne-ss of Si_3N_4, it can not be lubricated by sulfurized olefin.
