Abstract:In this paper, we report the experimental treatment of CCl4 induced hepatic fibrosis of rats with hepatocyte stimulating substance (HSS), as well as their hydroxyproline trend. The results revealed that the hepatic hydroxyproline contents of the HSS-treated and HSS-prevented animals were significantly less than those of the control group (P<0.01). The serum albumin levels of HSS prevented animals exceeded other groups (P<0.05). Hepatocyte degeneration and fibrous tissue hyperplasia in HSS-treated and HSS-prevented group were significantly less than control (P<0.05). Blood ALT levels showed no statistically valid diference among three groups. This suggested that HSS inhibited hepatic fibrosis and improved hepatic systhesis function. This effect might be due to the stimulating action of HSS particu-lary on damaged liver cells, promoting regeneration, and selectively increased the resolution of collagen.
