Abstract:Blood samples were randomly selected from genomic DNA of 98 South Devon hybrid progeny to construct DNA pool, and sequence variations and polymorphism of growth differentiation factor 10 (GDF10) gene were analyzed by high resolution melting curve (HRM) analysis techniques and direct sequencing.SHEsis and PHASE were used to screen the SNPs in GDF10 gene by the wave height of sequencing map.The association between genotypes and body measurement was evaluated by SPSS 17.0.The results showed that three SNPs 1113 (G/A), 9569 (G/A) and 9628 (G/A) of GDF10 gene were identified in the population.Analysis of association of polymorphism with body measurement traits at all mutation loci showed that there were significant effects on body height, body length, chest circumference and cannon bone girth (P<0.05).There were 8 haplotype combinations in the cattle populations, in them AAA and GGA had significant effects on body height, body length, chest circumference and cannon bone girth (P<0.05).The results suggested that three SNPs and two haplotype combinations might have potential effects on production traits in the above mentioned cattle populations and could be used for marker-assisted selection.
